Hello, im in 8th grade about to go to high school and i got my review for this school. for now there isn't any problem with the teaching/learning and school support. but, the students are the problem. specifically the hispanics. i've seen hispanics pushing, bullying, kicking, fighting and property damage in a daily basis. the security is low, i feel that a school shooting can occur every day by the low security. i was bullied in the school bus and it took the school 8 months to fix with only a week of suspencion in my 7th grade year. there are 0 metal detectors, backpacks aren't checked in the morings. and the only thing that i know is that the school has only 1 policy about avoiding school shootings. "if you see something say something" im sorry but if someone brings a gun no one will find out until the person uses it. and there has been criticism in the past about racism and sexual abuse

I feel like a school shooting might happen each second. it's so easy to enter with a gun (I haven't brought a firearm or any weapon) but the lack of security is so low. they don't check the backpacks until at least 10 people report for a gun.

This school disgusts me, it’s an utter disgrace of a school. I don’t even know where to start. First, the hallways are so crowded to the point where kids step on top of each other. You can’t even walk in the halls without somebody behind you holding onto your backpack and pushing you forward. The classes are a joke. And the teachers are even worse. Many students have to correct teachers from their own lack of education. I cannot recall a single thing i learned for attending the school for 2 years. It was the worst mistake of my life. One teacher was watching netflix and had her airpods in while students were doing an assignment. If you have questions, this school is the worst place to ask them! If you’re an english speaker, you will get no attention because the teachers try to “help” the 20 kids in the class that don’t even speak english. The teachers are always yelling and i don’t blame them because the kids make this school a living hell to work at!! The kids are extremely rude and disrespectful to teachers and students. I was bullied by multiple people here because they are so uncivilized. Don’t get me started on the fights that go on at this school. I witnessed so many violent fights and if you try to record them the principal will scream at you and take your phone because if you show your parents the video it will look bad on the school, but i believe parents should see the fights because it shows the true colors of the disgusting school. My first year at the school I walked into the bathroom to see kids stealing toilet paper and kids vaping. The stalls were so gross I wanted to vomit. There was dirt and grime on the floors and the toilets were never flushed and the doors never locked. The cafeteria horrified me because it was huge and if you didn’t sit with a certain group of popular people they will take pictures of you and laugh with their friends even if nothing is wrong with you and you look normal. I didn’t order food because it looked and smelled awful like dog food. No wonder some kids ate it. The school is so huge with 1,200+ students that you will never be able to focus in class because of the 20 kids in your class playing spanish music and dancing to tiktoks and playing catch while the teachers play on their phones and give students candy. There is so much more i wanted to say about this terrible disgrace of a school but I can’t fit it in this review. DO NOT SEND YOUR KIDS HERE!!!!

This school has taught me things in ways I actually remember them, teachers are very kind and respectful. SPED kids and kids with accommodations actually get the ones they need.

My child has attended all 3 years at Renner and I have no complaints, he has learned how to be responsible for his schoolwork with the help of the staff. They communicate very well through email especially when they need assistance getting your child back on track. My second son will be attending this year so I'm excited to see his growth as well.

Heading into year three of this school and couldn't be more impressed with teachers who have a genuine and vested interest in my child, a principal who sees the big picture and students who dig in for healthy challenges.

The environment at this school is extremely negative - DO NOT SEND YOUR CHILD HERE! Starting at the top, the Principal screams at the kids all the time, in the hallways, on the MEAGPHONE in the lunch room and at pep rallies. All negative, no encouraging or uplifting remarks. An atmosphere of fear and intimidation are the methods of control here. Even some of the teachers have admitted that they are afraid of her as well. A great example are the ridiculous one-way hallways. The teachers and the Principal watch like hawks to make sure no one steps a centimeter over the line, stops or goes back two steps to get something from their locker. Retaliation is instant if your child breaks the traffic rules. The lunch periods have been condensed into 3 from 4. Now the kids are crammed into an overcrowded lunch room filled with yelling, chaos and the Principal or the PE coach screaming at them over the MEGAPHONE throughout the entire lunch period. All this just creates an extremely negative and anxiety filled atmosphere. The teachers with a few exceptions are lazy and unprofessional. The athletic coach for example, arrives every day with a giant bag of Whataburger and a huge 44oz drink. He then has to ride around on an ATV while the kids run. Not a first class example of fitness, health and proper diet. The band teacher is incredibly sarcastic and continually yells at the students. She gives very little praise and actually mentioned to the students that this is the way to motivate them! The students were told at one point that she did not want any email from parents. Once again the environment of intimidation and fear rather than offering praise, being encouraging and positive when it is due is the norm. The students play well, but there are much more effective ways to get there. Isn't band supposed to be fun? A science teacher decided not to teach one day and just stared at the class until there were 5 minutes left. She then yelled at them about how they were misbehaving, held them 3 minutes over so they were late to their next class. Not fair to the good students WHO ARE PUNISHED FOR THINGS THEY DIDN'T DO! It is interesting that the school displays all kinds of Renner Strong posters with behaviors listed on them, but they DO NOT INSTILL THESE VALUES on a daily basis or live it out. Just empty words.

If I could give this school zero stars, I would. The Principal is completely unprofessional. My child was bullied by another student and that student laid hands on her. Because my child stood up for herself, she was placed in in-school suspension. The school NEVER NOTIFIED ME OF THE INCIDENT. Not even to tell me they would be placed in in-school suspension. I only found out because my child told me. After repeated phone calls and voice mail messages to the principal, to this day I have not heard one word from anyone in administration about what happened.

Renner is an awesome school. Our kids had a wonderful time here. Renner provides a top notch educational standard, great extracurriculars and an environment to thrive. We can't praise it enough. Yes, it's not perfect and can improve but we were very satisfied with services provided there.

It served our kids well. We weren't only happy with their academic progress but overall development in social, athletic and extracurricular areas as well. What we like best is the environment as most kids come from educated and well to do families of diffrent backgrounds but all want the best for their children, it creates an atmosphere of of mutual effort to raise the bar for the school.

Renner is a good school with potential to be great. The 2013 school year began with a large amount of new staff after the previous principal and assistant principal left. In order to try to establish control, the staff went overboard with rules, constant warnings for students not to be tardy, one way direction for hallways, etc. Things seems to have leveled out a year later. The new principal is very responsive and personable. However, communication needs improvement. Websites are not up to date with the latest schedules and the parent portal is only as relevant as each teacher chooses. Administration needs to focus on weeding out the teachers with bad attitudes before they do lasting damage to students' academic futures and outlook on learning. There also needs to be a greater emphasis on letting students have a little fun. Finally, the athletics program has all new coaches and they are pretty disorganized. They really could use an Athletics Coordinator/administrative assistant of their own to help them coordinate all the details and correspondence that running those programs require.

Renner Middle School is the best thing that happened to me. The principal, Mrs. Sonja Pegram is the best principal I could ever ask for!! The track coach, Coach Francis is the BEST track coach I could ever ask for!! If coming to Renner its so much better when your involved in the school!!! I've been at Renner for 2 years and I'm in the eight grade, parents there will be things that you will not like but always ( I can't stress this enough) LET THE KIDS WORK IT OUT THEMSELVES! Mrs. Pegram is the best principal ever! She comes in the hallways and has conversations with us while walking with us! VERY-FRIENDLY AMAZING LOCATION VERY PROTECTED

Don't send your child to this school. Lazy, unresponsive teachers. Some teacher expect students to know everything...

Our children had many wonderful teachers, well oiled system and good education. They thrived and made wonderful memories. Teachers and students manage things independently and parents don't feel any pressure, great experience.

Unresponsive staff. I have emailed several times to counselor and administration with slow to zero responses back concerning incorrect class schedule and incorrect information uploaded into the parent portal. Also, the school doesn't communicate with parents for new coming students or 6th grade on class times or bell changes so we can better prepare and organize for our 6th graders. It's like they feel you suppose to know certain things. How can a parent help their child have a smooth year without admin informing them of basic information. I received handouts to initial that read certain items and never received the handouts/rules to do so. I had high hopes coming into this school, but that has passed. If it doesn't get better, I do not plan on having my daughter at this middle school for 7-8 grade. Oh and this back to school bash they had to meet parents was a joke! Several parents stopped and asked me where are the teachers for the students to meet, but that didn't happen. I had a couple of teachers approach me and point out one person to just say hi". No teachers were in the room. This school will get a low score until they implement some improvements.
