I am the extremely proud principal of Stearns Elementary and have been since 2017. This school is small but mighty. The staff here are the most dedicated professionals I have ever worked with. They take professional learning extremely seriously and are always looking for ways to best reach their students. They collaborate on a daily basis and support each and every child, not just those in their classrooms. Each child is greeted by name as they enter the building every morning and celebrated each month during our whole school Gatherings. We celebrate differences that make us unique. We have the only co-taught model in Berkshire County where every classroom from Kindergarten through Grade 5 has a special education teacher, a general education teacher and a paraprofessional working alongside one another all day to support the learning needs of every child. We pride ourselves in small group, targeted instruction at each child's ability level. The academic as well as social emotional gains of students is truly spectacular. I have an open door policy for all caregivers and community members to share ideas to better our school community and we love sharing our success stories with those who love us. We can't wait to meet you! Welcome to the family :)

Stearns provides amazing opportunities for kids. My daughter has enjoyed afterschool clubs, music programs and art programs through this school. The teachers really seem to make it engaging and have fun with the kids which is super important. There is a focus on academics but it seems like the school is pushing for overall good people not just test scores which aligns with our values. She has had a great experience and is half way through her elementary school experience. She gets reports on how she performs on academic test with her report card from a fastbridge report, which shows her preforming well in her grade, and compared within the district and nationally which is kind of neat. They seem to have the same people sub when a teacher is out which I think is a good sign when so many schools struggle to get help. All her teachers have been really amazing and the principal knows every student’s name as well as mine and my husbands. We would recommend and have school choiced here.

The Principal for the last three years had no skill dealing with special needs children nor did he promote instrumental music. Hopefully, the new Principal will be more suited to handle these issues.
