Excellent neighborhood school. Calm environment, focus on character development and being a good person in addition to solid academics. A much better environment for my shy/hesitant kid than the local public schools.

The best school in Pittsburgh. Fantastic teachers whose focus is on the well being of the child add well their education. A challenging yet exciting curriculum. Sister Geri is amazing. LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS SCHOOL!

Pluses - the families that attend St Philip school are wonderful, it is difficult to find another school where parents are so supportive of one another and each other's children -truly special. K through 2 teachers are very well structured, clear expectations of children's performance and learning issues are addressed. Negatives - after second grade it all seems to fall apart. Curriculum not well defined, copious amounts of homework are given, standardized testing is very important, subject matter is simply dished out with know concern as to whether a child absorbs the information or had trouble with it, teachers continue to power through with coursework even if most children fall behind, children not assessed for why they may be falling behind, in classes of 10-15 students this is negligence, no concern for the student as an individual with individual needs. Poor leadership from the top trickles down, most teachers do not respect administrator at school whom I'm not sure has any background in education. Overall, school seems to be falling behind the times, for classes of such small size the education could definitely be better and one would expect more individualized attention/instruction. There are other local catholic schools where you will get more bang for your buck.

The teachers and staff are excellent. My son is new to the school this year and he thoroughly enjoys the teachers and the friends he has made there. Academic excellence and respect of others are of utmost importance at Saint Philips School.

My brothers and I attended St. Philip for 8 years. At that time mostly Sisters of Charity were the teachers. Even though the Sisters no longer teach in the school, the quality of education has continued.

St. Philips is a great school. They truly care for their students and are very involved with every student there. My son goes to St. Philips and I absolutely love it. I know my son is going to receive a great education here. I would happily recommend St. Philips to anyone.

I love everything about St. Philip! The teachers are the best. The kids not only learn so much from them, but they also teach many life lessons. All of the parents work together to make the school like one big family! The school is just overall outstanding!!!

This school has a great academic curriculum and feels like family. The Principal has helped our family from tuition assistance help to supporting us all through very hard emotional times.

It is extremely important to me that both my children attend St. Philips School. The entire staff is extremely patient and kind, but more importantly to me, they all work together to ensure that my children know that in order to succeed in life there are many values to have. Grades of course are extremely important when it comes to the success of a child, but St. Philips also teaches Kindness, and that each child is responsible to show everyone about the love that Christ shows all of us.. They all work together to ensure that not only the kids get very good grades, but that they will grow into kind responsible adults as well. I love St. Philips school, and i'm very grateful to everyone there.

Great school if your child is gifted. If your child has learning difficulties, look somewhere else. Most teachers are great here. Test scores on the standardized tests are VERY important to them. In my opinion, they move through the curriculum too quickly, even if all children are not ready to move on. For us, the administration was not supportive here.
