Providence Heights Alpha school is incredible! We have loved our time as a family with two children currently enrolled here. The class sizes are "just right", the teachers are phenomenal (they have the test scores to prove it! much higher than all the Diocesan schools), and the curriculum is amazing (Spanish, Swimming, Stem, Computer, Music, and more!). The tuition is very reasonable. The extracurriculars are wonderful as well (tennis, ballroom dancing, dance, theater, chess, Mad Science, piano, to name a few). The parents are actively involved in the school and have become some of our closest friends. It's like having an entire village involved in raising your children. We couldn't be happier to have found this hidden gem in the north hills. Highly recommend Alpha!! Five stars across the board!

Three kids who go here; the swimming, CCD and speech therapy they offer really frees up my time so I can enjoy doing more stuff as a family as they learn needed skills beyond the educational curriculum at school. Help the kids with their homework and it is age appropriate and they really do want to show what they learned at school due to teacher motivation throughout the day.

Could not be more proud to enroll my son at my alma mater. It is truly a special place. Dropping him off in the morning is then est part of my day.

Fantastic support from teachers, administrators and staff. Outstanding student to teacher ratio and personalized attention. Challenging academics that engage advanced learners. Wide selection of after school activities and sports for all students, even the youngest. Active, kind, and welcoming families. Outperforms highly rated public school in all areas.

I have 2 children at Alpha School. The school has excellent engaging academics plus an incredibly nurturing environment where my kids are gaining confidence, curiosity and a sense of responsibility to others. They LOVE going to school. They have PE 2x a week including weekly swim lessons, Robotics, computers, Spanish, Art and Music in addition to great innovative curriculum for other subjects.

I am a mom of two current students in Alpha. One child in the 1st grade and one child in kindergarten. We toured almost every Catholic school in the area before we made our choice. Alpha was low on our list because we thought it might be a stretch for our family to afford. We took a leap of faith and I am overjoyed at our decision! My children have dramatically different personalities and learning paces. Both of them have excelled academically but I am most impressed with the development of character. The one on one attention they have received has allowed them to blossom as individuals. My son who is a slow learner and a sensitive soul has gone from not knowing his alphabet to reading and writing sentences in just a few months. He comes home happy and full of conversation about what he is learning. They move at their own paces. No more disappointment that someone else is doing better than him. My daughter is excelling in all avenues. I feel they are safe and loved there. I love the staff and the principal. I can't say enough about this amazing school!! We have never looked back! WORTH EVERY PENNY!

My child is entering the 7th grade this year. We have been parents in this school for 8 years overall. An outstanding environment that still manages to provide a catholic platform with an academy feel for academics. 15:1 student teacher ratios, differentiation for math and reading, consistently strong terra nova scores, and successful integration of technology into the environment. All students, pre-K through 8th attend specials classes and science is handled as an individual subject from the very beginning. A pool for swim class, a private chapel for weekly mass, 2 robotics rooms, a computer room, a music program, a regulation sized gym, and this year they launch an accelerated reader program with a designated teacher. This school is value for money every time. My son is the very best version of himself in this environment. I don't have to check his planner, prompt or push him to get work done, or set expectations. He is already preparing for PJAS and school hasn't even started yet! His Terra Nova scores and independent assessments place him ahead in all areas. I encourage you to weigh the adult posts on this site against the student posts on this site and check the school out.

Alpha is truly a gem. We have been thrilled with the education and love of learning our daughter has received from the dedicated faculty and staff, and the friendships that she has developed. It is a small school with a warm, caring, friendly atmosphere. Our daughter tells us that her school is like a family. The small class size enables personalized attention. However, it has all the benefits of a big school - and more. Spanish, Robotics and Swimming begin in kindergarten. Beginning in first grade, students are put in flexible ability groupings for language arts and math, and go to a special Science class with a dedicated Science teacher. The science and technology curriculum is top notch - as is the art and music. The after school program is incredibly convenient. We don't need it for regular childcare, but have taken advantage of some of the programs, such as golf, piano, tae kwon do and book club, and have used it for child care on an as needed basis. Finally, the Catholic character of the school environment emphasizes development of young women and men who are positive, helpful and purposeful. It is a wonderfully diverse school that can be a happy place for children of any faith to grow and develop.

Prepares children to excel. I am a 17-year-old alumni of this school, and my friends who also graduated from Alpha and I have some of the top 10 GPAs of my grade at my current high school. The Spanish and science programs were especially excellent

We have been delighted with our experience at Providence Heights Alpha School over the past 7 years. The school offers a rigorous and innovative curriculum. Small class sizes (12-15) mean that all students are active participants in their learning environment. The faculty truly care for each child. Spanish, Chinese, robotics, swimming, dedicated science teachers (even in Kindergarten!), an incredible arts program, musicals, athletics for all abilities. Mass celebreated every Friday in the beautiful chapel, children of all faiths are welcomed. Current leadership is strong and respected.

The decision to send our daughter to Alpha was one of the best decisions we have ever made. She loves the school and so do we. Not only is the education excellent but the care our children receive as a result of the small class sizes and the dedicated teachers and staff is more than one could ask for. I see my daughter growing not only academically but also as a caring and responsible individual. The teachings do not stop in the classroom as they offer a variety of after school and extra curricular activities that complete the learning experience for the children. Soon our second daughter will be attending and we can't wait to see her become part of the wonderful Alpha family.

I can honestly say that Providence Heights Alpha School was the best investment we made in our daughter's education. The excellent academic environment, along with the safe and beautiful campus, began a foundation for academic success. She went on to graduate with highest honors from Oakland Catholic High School and received a full academic scholarship in chemistry from Duquesne University. She credits Alpha School with instilling in her that love of science. You cannot go wrong with an Alpha Education!

I have watched my children thrive in the environment that Alpha fosters. Set in a beautiful, historic building, Alpha has exceeded all my expectations with dedicated teachers and accelerated academics. While so many schools are abandoning arts and enrichment programs, Alpha has embraced them. Not only in the school day, but a great line up of after school programs. My kids have enjoyed chess, robotics, math club, forensics and play multiple sports. The spring musical has also been a great experience for my kids to be involved in. Alpha is so much more than just a school, it is a loving and caring community of great kids, parents and teachers. Our experience at Alpha has been nothing short of amazing.

The building is chock full of asbestos . That's bad ! Whats way more troubling is ,when workman actually drill or break thru walls, floors and ceiling. Zero safety precautions are in place. Staff children and anyone else in the building are exposed . Very good anti-bulling program . Most teachers go above and beyond the call of duty very inspired to teach.

Providence Heights Alpha is a non-denominational K-8 private school owned by the Sister of Divine Providence. The schools strengths are small class size (<20) and creating a culture of high standards for the children - both inside and outside the classroom. Curriculum strengths are language arts, science, and math. The teachers truly care about the children and their education. It is a structured environment that provides the children with a platform to learn and grow in a respectful and nurturing environment. A new principal will take over for the 2012/2013 school year and both the parents and faculty are looking forward to the new leadership.
