Dr Murray is the reason my score is so low. My son attended k-5 here and he was treated extremely unfairly by her (on multiple occasions). Some teachers are great others not so much. Common were first yr teachers or long terms subs. Middle of the year teachers would be swapped for another. Neighborhood is a majority white and liberal. If you have different beliefs or question anything watch put.I'm moving for the fact I don't want my daughter attending this elementary school.

Our kids have generally enjoyed being at Howe, but I've been underwhelmed, given the general perception that this is a great school. The test scores are probably more a reflection of parental involvement and demographic advantages of the community (upper middle class, two parent households, with lots of parents who stay home and have time to volunteer) rather than anything the school specifically does. There are some very good, hard-working teachers, but turnover seems excessively high given what the district pays and its well-regarded reputation. It seems like there is a culture problem that begins at the top.

Lots of practicing Christians with poor understanding of morality. These children come from parents that are intellectually stunted.

My child is thriving at Howe. I cannot say it has been easy for him, but the mark they have expected him to step up to has been a good thing. He has made the effort, been rewarded, and continues to be motivated to strive for good things both academically and socially.

9/10. The school’s weakness — the principal and her leadership — is serious. But the surrounding community, including the parents and the kids who go to the school, and the teachers who work at the school are so amazing that they make up for that flaw.

I have put two boys through Howe Elementry School and their experiences were excellent. One of the two is quiet and the other more outgoing. Each was able to excel in academics and each was able to make lasting friendships. I can't express enough praise for the school. I would like to point out, however, that this school is in Mt. Lebanon. The district does not bus and when school is out, it is out. The school's responsibility ends at the door. This does not pose a problem for any of the parents that I know.

I am currently having a wonderful experience having a child at Howe. Every staff member I have met is wonderful. The teachers and administrators are great at keeping parents informed. I am also loving the school spirit. The school itself is beautiful and really well kept.

The parents shouldn't have to do everything. Howe is in an area with excellent families who prepare their kids really well for the teachers. It would be nice if some of the teachers did some of the work also.

I wish they would improve the dismissal period for the students and parents. Seems like the principal and teachers don't care and just want the students out of the building. A school shouldn't run that way.

In my opinion, the new principal is leading this school in the wrong direction. She's been the principal here for a few years now and since she has been here, the school appears to have gone wild. Either her teaching staff can't manage the students behavior or she can't manage the teachers' abilities to do so. Some good advice for the school is: the teachers need to focus more on their classroom management and the principal needs to focus more on her school management.
