I graduated from Oliverian in 2010 and am so grateful to have stayed connected to my Oli community and family since then, including at a recent reunion on campus. The love and support I felt from staff while I was a student at the school, was like nothing I had ever experienced in other environments. They prepared me for life in ways I didn't know I needed. Thanks to Oliverian's college guidance office, I got into college and excelled in my college and graduate school classes. Oli is an incredibly special place that is continually growing alongside its students, putting immense energy into providing a welcoming and supportive community with a focus on academic and personal growth. I'm currently living my dream job as a federal park ranger, which wouldn't have been possible without my years at Oliverian.

My daughter had severe social anxiety and dropped out of school in 10th grade. After trying online schooling and other interventions with no real success, she did some research and found Oliverian and went to summer session as a trial run. From the first day I could see what a very different type of school it was. The staff were so caring and compassionate, and the sustained effort to help her was clear. There were many days when she couldn't make it to all her classes but would gravitate towards the staff. They ensured that she stayed involved in the ways that she found possible. She had a bumpy ride but felt safe and accepted. No one could work at a school like this and not give their best. There is no one size fits all here. It's also not a school for all kids but if it fits your child, it’s a place for them to get help in finding acceptance of who they are, what they want, and to start working on their place in the world.

was just what our daughter required for her last two years of High School. we dont live in the USA so was great to know she would be both safe and also helped to overcome her challenges and achieve her goal of graduation and follow on to college. She achieved both and graduated with first class honours from a university in Europe in due course. without Oliverian this would not have been possible.

Oliverian was the "place" that helped our son discover his "place" both in educational terms and on a personal level. Oliverian provided a safe, nurturing, harmonious, caring, authentic environment for our son to re-discover goals and self-interests like pursuing a college education, that had been on-hold to deal with Depression/Anxiety/OCD. Our son graduated Oliverian in 2020 and is now a USC freshman. The loving staff and teachers helped our son to learn coping skills, manage his mental well-being and regain confidence to pursue his academic goals and many life interests, even whilst navigating during his senior year at Oliverian in 2020, during the pandemic. Our son had fun times and many new adventures at Oliverian. Our son was able to find his authentic and genuine "place" within himself, discovering inner peace; a true sense of comfort with who he is. Our son (and family) made special friendships and important connections and we consider ourselves lucky to be part of the Oli Family.

My son attended Oliverian for 6 weeks this fall, and they provided no academic rigor and no therapeutic support. In a school full of kids with mental health and academic challenges, classes had zero assignments or academic challenge and zero homework (their new policy, they said). Half the kids didn't even show up to class, with zero consequences, and kids were totally left to their own devices (literally - they claim that they turn wifi off but all the kids know the code and can use it all night long). Their counseling program has no clinical supervision and sees itself as simply helping kids address day to day problems - but if your child doesn't proactively seek them out, they are basically ignored. Drug use and truancy was rampant. There were no personalized education or therapeutic plans, and no indication of any future attention to individual needs. Other than (usually) attending class, my son spent all day every day playing video games, and after a few weeks of learning nothing and seeing most other kids skip class, told us that he was "demoralized" and wasn't going to bother going to class anymore. He told us that all the kids said that the school leaders didn't care about anything except money, and this seemed plausible to us as our pleas for more support and structure were ignored. After pulling him out, the school has refused to refund any of our tuition, and after we noted that we would write reviews to inform other parents, they pretended they had just been about to implement an "education and wellness strategy," despite never mentioning anything about this in all the time we asked how they would be meeting our son's needs. To showcase their success, they offered a story of a kid who attended no classes and did no work for 3 years, and then in his senior year, he started doing well - that seems a very clear indicator of the school's philosophy - they will happily take $86K a year for 4 years with the hopes that, by the end, your kid will be motivated to engage.

Truly a place to find your place. A wonderfully supportive school with some of the kindest staff I have ever met. Engaging and fun curriculum with teachers ready to work with students to overcome academic challenges and prepare for next steps. I graduated ready to keep moving forward, having accomplished huge personal growth in all aspects of my life.

Alternative HIgh School that works miracles. My daughter attended the summer program and it was a miracle how it turned her attitude around towards everything. Everyone who knew her before and after says the same thing. The counselors and teachers there were very caring for her and for us. The summer school has a ratio of almost one to one in terms of adults to students. We dropped off a sad, defiant, rude 15 year old child and were greeted with hugs, heart felt apologies and a new outlook on everything, well beyond our expectations. I picked this school because I could not stomach a more strict kind of institution for her. Their approach is with firmness and kindness. We literally arrived on drop off day knowing nothing about the school, except what we gleened from emails to its founder, taking a huge leap of faith, and we were so very very happy we did.

a private high school for students who have bombed in more typical schools for a variety of reasons- learning differences, bullying, recovering from substance abuse- While we haven't had our student there long yet, we are seeing slow and steady improvement and are hopeful for the future. Much good going on, sincere caring. I have heard stories from parents whose kids have been there longer about their turn-around, both academic and personal.
