George Gervin Prep Academy has shown great interest in teaching children. They strive for excellence and have high standards for learning. They offer diverse experiences for the children as well as high level academics.

My children love going to GGPA, they have so many mentors that have come in and helped with building so much confidence in my children. After moving here last year I'm happy we made the right choice.

I love working here at GGPA. This school is really good about making sure each is getting the attention they need to be successful. We are even more excited to announce to everyone that we are now a B Rated School. Our Teachers and Students have worked really hard over the last 2 years to make sure no one fell behind due to covid and it really shows!!!

My child has been thriving now that he is going to GGPA. The teachers are great and working with him so now he is above average in his test schools. I highly recommend this school.

Following the recent turnover in teaching staff at GGPA, it's obvious that our community school is in for a great year of teaching and learning. The new and returning teaching professionals here are working hard to ensure that high learning standards are achieved, safety is paramount, and students get out of their cars each morning assured of a great day of learning. I was going to pull my kids out because last year was bad. This year I am so happy with the changes. The buses were bad last year and much better this year. They also have free lunches and after school program with Yoga , dance and student council and court. My kids hated school last year and now hate to leave. What a relief.

I have four children here at GGPA and last year it wasn't so great. I decided to give it another chance and it has really improved. It does need art and music and I guess they are getting them for next year. I really like the teachers my kids have, and what is important to me, is that my kids love their teachers. They do all kinds of fun activities. I didn't give it a four because I would like to see more programs. i understand it's a new school, so I am sure it will improve. I really like administration, she is doing a great job this year, good thing we got a new principal.

Not sure how you can call this a school. My child started this school and a month later I took her out. Lunch is expensive 2.75, which I don't mind paying for but my child would come home hunger. Her home room teacher seemed like a very angry man. His teaching was political and my daughter said he would talk angry over other parties. My child is in the 5th grade for heaven's sake.If I want her to talk about politics it will be is with her parents. This same teacher didn't show up to class one morning. My daughter said approx.1/2 later was moved to another classroom. Most of that day was sitting around not being taught.This school doesn't offer art, music, chorus, but they do teach P.E. 3X a week.

This is a pretty good school. It is a new school, and it just opened the doors for k-5th grade. This year there is new administration and teachers, I see the school coming together. My daughter is doing great there, I have had no bad experiences, she gets good grades, and likes her teachers. As for the comments about it being ran like a prison, from what my kids tell me is that some of the kids are bad, and think they can do whatever they want, and then administration comes down hard on them. That is how a school is ran, the things some of the kids do, they are not going to get away with it at any school. If you don't like a school, don't get hostel, just take your kids out. Schools will be much better for all the kids who like to learn, without the kids who are always causing trouble!!

Worst school. Terrible administration and policies. Run like a prison. The principal doesn't have a clue how to manage staff and the district is located in Texas and no one ever returns calls or emails at the district level. DO NOT SEND YOUR CHILDREN HERE.

I was excited when this school was coming to the Valley. After enrolling my kids and my niece there, I realized I made a mistake. This school does NOT create an "Elite" learning community at all. Administration has NO idea what they are doing. Who changes the curriculum in the middle of the school year? This happened several times within the two years my family attended this school. As the previous person stated, the only great thing about the school was the Arts. The music concerts included sold out crowds with the steel pan band and choir program, and it was quite evident that the students enjoyed being a part of the music program. My child was a student in both music classes, and enjoyed performing all over the valley. Her favorite performances was at the Botanical Garden, Ritz Carlton, and Girls Scouts of America. The math teacher cared about her students learning about Math and for the first time ever my child enjoyed doing her math homework. She was one of the only teachers that pushed my student. The other teacher was the SS teacher and with her, she kept in contact with me about my child's grades. She had heart, and was passionate about her students.My child graduated last year, and after reading these comments, it appears that nothing has changed. They are still doing changes in the middle of the school year, and talking to other parents the school is going downhill. I ran into a parent who still had a child there (Her son graduated in May) and she gave me the rundown of the school. She told me that the music teacher left to pursue other opportunities after another school sought her out to build their music program. I told her by her leaving, GGPA ended up losing the best thing there........She agreed!

My child attended GGPA the first year that it opened, and we left before the school year ended. The administration had no clue what they were doing. I can't believe they made major changes in the middle of the school year. The most devastating change was when my daughter came home to tell me they were no longer in grade level classes, but the classes were based on knowledge level. So you had 6th graders in the same classes as 8th graders. Who's dumb idea was that? The Kids were smart enough to know if they were in the dumb class. The teachers were frustrated, kids were frustrated, and although I wanted to stick it out for the rest of the school year, I could not allow my daughter's education to suffer because of the dumb ideas that administrators had during the time. There were a few good teachers, and it was quite evident which teachers cared about the students, and which teachers were there to collect a paycheck. All my daughter talked about was the music and art program, (Ms. Love and Mr. White) and just think this was suppose to be a STEM school. I was so disappointed. If you are thinking about bringing your child here, do yourself a favor.....Don't!

This school is the worst school ever! I cant' believe they call it a prep academy oppose to calling it a reform school. That's what it feels like. I can't WAIT to pull my son out of this God-Awful school. The administration has no clue on what they are doing, and the special ed teacher does absolutely NOTHING. Like why is she even there???? She seems lazy, and from what I gather from my child, she does nothing ALL DAY. She is far from any special ed teacher that I have ever experience. There are only a few teachers that are fairly decent, but the rest of them must have gotten their training from a diploma mill school. Counting down the days when I can finally remove my child from this school. BEWARE, do NOT send your kid here unless you don't care about your child's education!

To begin, the administration is awful. It seems like the rules change daily and the punishments for students are never adhered to consistently. The teachers seem obviously unhappy every time I have met with them. There is only one science teacher for seventh and eighth grade and I have heard nothing but complaints and pleas from my child to transfer. When your kid is afraid of their teacher, you know you have an issue. There was a high teacher turnover rate the past few years, but not anymore. Do not let this console you, the teachers that are here (with an exception or two) probably wouldn't be hired at a self-respecting education facility and that is the only reason they stay at George Gervin. There is no counselor or psychologist available even though one would be so highly beneficial. The students are very "cliquey" and many of them do not get along. This is particularly true between different ethnic groups, but nothing is done to address this issue. This is NOT a prep academy regardless of the name. This school is preparing children for prison, not for college.
