We love Gavilan Peak! My son is in the Mandarin Immersion program, and it’s been amazing to see how much he is learning. I have been impressed with all his teacher, they are hard-working, and have been providing my son with differentiated instruction so that he can progress at a high level!

Our four children have had great experiences at Gavilan Peak School! We came because of the well-established Mandarin Chinese immersion program, and we have been impressed with the dedication and excellence of the Mandarin teachers. We benefit greatly from other aspects of the school as well, including the many highly-experienced teachers, the gifted program, and family feel. We love that it is K-8 so our kids get to stay there longer and spend middle school with fewer students and with familiar staff and peers. I often volunteer and I see people helping people behind the scenes all the time. GP is a great school!

We have been so blessed to have found Gavilan Peak and the Mandarin Immersion program for all 4 of our children. I’ve watched bright and exceptional kids come out of this program for over a decade now. Learning Mandarin has been incredible for my children. It has opened their minds and helped them all to really excel in everything they have pursued. Their ability to memorize and pick things up quickly I attribute to learning in this environment. The teachers are really passionate and loving to the kids there. We have had great relationships with the teachers, office staff, and leadership throughout the years and have appreciated the parent engagement as well. We also love the arts opportunities. The music teacher puts on one of a kind musical productions. The kids in the program and activities all become like family and grow up together which is pretty cool. Mr Segersten was the principal for many years and had a life lasting impact on my older children. The olders have continued throughout HighSchool at Boulder Creek, which has a system to support their continual learning of the language; and then college as well. My daughter just completed her Chinese minor. My son worked at In and Out Burger during HighSchool and would translate for the Taiwanese customers from TSMC that didn’t speak English. They use Mandarin out in the community and are unique and special for being able to speak such a difficult global language. Highly recommend this school!

My daughter has LOVED school at GP! Shes in the mandarin program and the gifted program. It’s mind blowing how quickly and easily her little brain has learned a second language! The class sizes are small and the teachers are all veterans! It’s a warm and friendly environment where she gets the attention she needs to grow right where she’s at academically! When she hops in the car at the end of the day she is on cloud nine! So happy we have such a wonderful school!

This is a great school, but what makes it extra special is the mandarin immersion program. My daughter is thriving, it's so awesome for her to be able to learn another language and be immersed in culture

Great school with seasoned staff. My two older kids (my youngest is in pre k there) are in the Mandarin Immersion program and highly recommend it! It allows for improved cognitive skills such as problem solving and critical thinking. The teachers are great and really care about the children. The teachers also seem really close knit as well

Love love love the Chinese immersion program! Love the Sage (gifted program). Love the step up program. I love that this school caters to all learners. If your child needs more of a challenge they offer challenges for every learner. The instill a strong set of values that allow kids ti make mistakes but also know there are consequences for their actions. Highly recommend!

Love this school. We moved over from cave creek after our program was cancelled and we couldn’t be happier. Caring teachers and amazing culture and kids! I am soooo glad we made the switch.

From day one, every person I have encountered was friendly, professional and helpful. The teachers are genuine, competent and invested in my child's overall growth and well being. I feel the teachers are great at communicating my child's progress and open to offering any additional help and support we may require. I also feel the school's spirit is nurturing diversity, respect and friendship. I cannot say enough about how great the teachers and the administration were in response to the pandemic. Our transition to and from online learning was seamless, we felt supported in every way possible, which took a lot of the pressure of us as parents, as well as from our child.

Horrible, we had live in 4 different states and my kids had gone at least to 9 different schools , Gavilan peak was the worse. Very rude mean people.

Gavilan Peak has been so helpful and supportive from day one. We moved from Texas and the transition was seamless. Courtney was the administrator who helped us get everything set up over email before we even arrived. She and the rest of the front office staff give an extremely warm friendly welcome. The teachers at this school advocate for the children and really care about their mission. We’ve had a disagreement with one teacher which was dealt with and worked through, making for a peaceful and pleasant experience after the fact. When it was all said and done the teacher expressed how much she does care for each student and it was genuine. My son showed signs of needing extra help with things and I was very impressed that the school came to me and offered an IEP, something many parents have to work hard to get for there children. These teachers and staff have an eye out for each kid and treat them all like family. They are also very inclusive to parents and family members. I’ve seen more family involvement here than any school we’ve been to. When we let the teachers know we were moving across the country my son’s teachers threw a party and my daughters teacher sent a heartfelt post card. I highly recommend Gavilan Peak for anyone moving to Anthem.

We LOVE Gavilan Peak. It is smaller than other elementary schools in Anthem which makes it feel like a home. The teachers are always smiling and happy while continuously doing an incredibly difficult job.

If you want a school that is kind, friendly or even remotely understands the basics of communication then DO NOT bring your kids to this school. Their office staff is very friendly during enrollment but expect any day after that to deal with rude, unfriendly, impatient and disrespectful people. If you have an in issue or concern don't even bother emailing the principal. They will NEVER even respond. Oh, but if someone is parked for pick up in a spot they don't want you. Well, the principle is all over that and loves to communicate "in person". If she especially doesn't like you then she will make sure to target you daily no matter where you park. No-one here has their priorities straight. You know what they say... you can tell a leader or in this case "leaders" by the People working beneath them.
