Love the Ren program at this school. The 3rd grade Ren teacher is amazing.

Arranging meetings with teachers has been unusually challenging for me. It's not just one teacher; it's several. Moreover, last year, when we tried to schedule a meeting with the principal, who then referred it to the district, our request was disregarded until the final day of school, and the issue was left unresolved. I highly recommend exploring alternative schooling options.

I was a current student here but now a online high school student, I am going to be sharing my experience as a ex student here at Canyon Springs STEM Academy in which Experience - two of my years was pretty bad experience here I have gotten publicly humiliated by one of teachers because I couldn’t do a thing correctly.Community - my “friends” were all backstabbers so I had no friends. Classroom - majority of the teachers here aren’t that nice and don’t really care. Kids here constantly get in trouble and in the classroom they treat the teachers like they are just there babysitters.Learning - With the all of the distractions it is very had to learn in my perspective.Teaching - For all of the hard work of becoming a teacher they don’t pay you as well especially paras (look it up).Social-emotional support - my mental health was really bad I was crying a lot and didn’t want to eat and felt like everyone was against me.Special Education - Bullies are also in the special education classes because they were acting out in class and didn’t want to do any work.Safety - There are these mini “fights” at recess where they have to go to the principals office in which they just keep them there.Family engagement - Not a lot of parents are on top of there kids learning and behavior so they just let them distract the class and bully others.Overall - On top of that they have a renaissance program and make this school a “STEM academy” just so they can look good. I can go on and on about my overall nightmare experience but this is enough to know about this school.

I write this review as a student, not a parent/guardian, though I do wish you hear me out on my opinions on this school.I am or was apart of the Renaissance program and through my experience I have been able to say this: this school has little to no clue how gifted students work and their needs, and in this incompetence, they hire teachers with little to no clue how to teach kids, let alone gifted ones. My major gripe with the school comes from recently, though I could point out other occasions from earlier in program, and my gripes also come from a specific teacher who manipulated, yelled, and hurt her students. This teacher would put in little effort into her job, normally texting or just sitting around, and when students would ask her for help, she would either “help” you by helping you by giving you the answer to a question, and expecting you to know how to do everything else, or if you needed help again, she would degrade and yell at you, and she couldn’t even do her own specialty, getting equations wrong and misleading students. This alone is bad for a gifted teacher, but it gets so much worse.I had a friend, let’s call him Pal, he was very sweet, and clearly wanted to learn, though sadly his parents weren’t very supportive to him, and he would fall behind in math, and so when we would do Khan (a website that allows teachers to assign work digitally) he would always need help, but this teacher was getting fed up of helping Pal, so she would “help” but if he made any mistake he would be yelled at and generally be mistreated, this got to points where he would break down and cry, which at that point the teacher would isolate him, giving punishments to anybody trying to talk or help him, this became normal, and even his parents would criticize him. I always tried to help out Pal, but clearly he would think less of himself every time it would happen.Other than this abusive behavior, the teacher would bully other students similarly, causing us to have little respect for her, and this lead to the call. To explain the call I need to make clear that I was the class clown, normally causing teachers to get a little annoyed with my presence, but with this teacher it was no little annoyance, with he screaming and yelling at me so often that one day, in the car, I had a conversation with my mom about me wanting to leave the school due to the horrible treatment, and so instead she scheduled a call with her, and she manipulated and gaslit everybody there.

My children love their school. Everyone is so friendly from the crossing guards to the lunch staff to the teachers all they way up to the VP and Principal. The office ladies are very helpful and always smiling. This is not my children's home school, but I happily bring then to Canyon Springs every day because of the amazing education I feel they are getting. Not only do they offer sports, band and chorus but they also offer STEM. I love the fact that my children are learning Spanish as well as art and music. They are excited to go to school every day and that makes me one happy mamma! One of my children has graduated from Canyon Springs and is now in all advanced classes at Boulder Creek. If you are looking for a great school, with teachers who truly care about your kids, I highly recommend Canyon Springs!

My own children have attended CS since its 2006 opening. I have been a teacher here since 2007. I could not be happier on every level. We are now an accredited STEM Academy and offer Deer Valley's Renaissance program as well. Our administrator's are top notch! Every year brings new and exciting learning opportunities and positive growth! I highly recommend our school!

If all you know is an Arizona education, this school would be great. However, we moved to Anthem last summer from another state. Our child , an eighth grader, was in all advanced classes in Texas and I was reassured that she would be just as challenged there. Only one teacher challenged her and would give her additional work and quizzes. The overall curriculum was too slow and easy. During group work, she would be the one to do all the work and she hated this, but her grade depended on it. The curriculum was so bad we decided to move back over Christmas break. This was the sole reason we moved back! She was in math and science tutoring from January to May just to catch up with her peers here. Once back in Texas, in her first week of school, she was assigned 6 major individual projects and since she was in advanced science, it was mandatory for her to participate in the science fair. However, she absolutely loved her language arts teacher, Mrs. Warner, and considers her, her favorite teacher of ALL time. Mrs. Grimm was also a good teacher she said. Overall, the lack of respect and apathy from the students along with a subpar curriculum gave us no choice but to move back to Texas. The good school rating is not the same equilavent to other states, at least not Texas. Families from other states need to do their due diligence to keep from making a costly move, in more ways than one.

Not only is the principal incredibly involved in a humble way, leading by example, the entire staff is amazing. There is no other way to say it: we left Diamond Canyon because of the incredibly bad environment it was. The principal stifles teachers, and the staff don't ever smile. Canyon springs is absolutely amazing. I have children in the Renaissance academy there and one in regular class, and hands down they receive the best education in the best environment in Anthem. Don't go just on ratings....this school is an A plus school, both on the books and to many of its students and their parents.

I really wish I had something good to say about this school. We really wanted to like it. We recently moved from another state and a highly rated school district within that state. Moving back to Phoenix, we knew that we would probably not get the same quality of school as where we moved from, but we were never prepared for a school like this. One of the reasons we chose our home in Anthem was because it was within walking distance to Canyon Springs, and that was a huge bonus for us. We were not impressed from day 1. Orientation was a nightmare. The school is poorly laid out. The teachers at orientation seemed flustered, overwhelmed and confused. Nobody could answer my questions. I tried to give them the benefit of the doubt and let it go. As we left orientation I tried to ask the VICE PRINCIPAL where my 1st grader could meet his siblings to walk home and he had NO idea. The teacher didn't know...nobody knew. Um, not good. On the first day the teacher left my 1st grader in his classroom by himself at the end of the day and finally his siblings figured out where to go get him. From there things went from bad to worse. The 6th graders are literally out of control. They cuss, they yell, they bully each other, they throw things. It go so bad in the lunchroom that all 6th graders now have assigned seating. The left hand has no idea what the right hand is doing. The teachers are beyond irritated with all the kids and I really can't blame them. My 4th grader has been tackled and jumped by an 8th grader more than once while walking into school. Just yesterday a fellow classmate told him he was going to beat him up at recess. My 6th grader has been repeatedly bullied. He has been called horrible names and at one point pushed into another teacher at lunch who did NOTHING. I emailed the school about it and never even got a reply. My 1st grader had an accident on picture day, before pictures were taken, and nobody even called me. He never has accidents and when I asked him why, he said he gets in trouble if he asks to use the restroom at the beginning of class. I am done...pulling all my kids out this week and enrolling elsewhere. Nothing could be worse than this school....

My kids are challenged, loved, and taught to be problem solvers, hard workers, and to never stop learning. I love Canyon Springs and the amazing opportunities they provide. My girls are in Science Club and Environmental Club. They love helping make the school a better place and working with the turtles!

This is my first year teaching at Canyon Springs, and it is the best experience I have had so far. The Admin and other teachers are friendly and supportive. All of our staff works together great and creates an engaging and challenging environment for all of our students. There are many systems in place that keep the campus organized and running efficiently. I couldn't ask for a better work environment.

We had several schools to choose from in the Anthem area, but Canyon Springs is the school for my children. The students and parents are very nice and down to Earth. The teachers and staff are very dedicated to education. The ladies in the front office are so very sweet and helpful. Even though this is a STEM school, I love the fact that they still offer students the opportunity to participate in fine arts. My children and I very much enjoyed the school's very first musical! Canyon Springs may not be our home school, but my children truly feel like they are home.

I've been going to this school for 8 years now, this year being my last, and I can say this hasn't been a great school. I haven't been to any others so I can't really compare. The only plus I can say is that the teachers are for the most part really nice, as long as you're not causing trouble. Everything else is a negative. The admins are terrible, the food is revolting, and countless of other things. I've also been bullied every year after 4th grade, and it's not just the kids. Once when I was eating my home made lunch, the monitors commented saying, "Don't you think that's a bit too much" and forced me to throw it away. So if you care for your children's well being, choose a different school.

I love this school! They offer many gifted services as well as services for special needs kids. The principle is wonderful. She has proven to be an excellent leader and the teachers are great as well. I have the option and access to several top rated charter schools in the area and would choose Canyon Springs over any of them!

Having taught at other schools in Deer Valley, I have found Canyon Springs to be much more supportive of teachers, staff, students, as well as the community it serves, than many other schools. Our focus is STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math), which is truly what our students need to be successful in the future. However, I also like the fact that the Arts and Humanities have not been left behind. This will ensure that our students are more prepared for the future. The Canyon Springs students, families, and community are wonderful to work with, and I think this school is on track to becoming one of the best schools in the region.

I have worked at this school for a few years now, and all I can say is that it keeps improving. The new principal truly puts our students' needs first. She has worked with the teachers to make sure they are differentiating and flexible ability grouping to meet all of our students' needs, no mater what level they are working at. In the last two years the school has also earned great academic growth scores, even better than the neighboring charter schools...
