The teachers at Cheatham are amazing and caring individuals. They work very hard to meet the needs of every student. Assignments are relevant and allow students the opportunity to grow.

I absolutely love Cheatham Elementary~ the students, staff, and community! The students are kind, compassionate, and overall amazing . The staff is one of the best that I have had the privilege to work with! Every day I walk into our building and smile because of the amazing students and staff.

So I see a lot of parents commenting about the school in general. A lot of you are saying something changed in 2015, what was it? Aside from the way the other students act(can't really towards a grain of salt) thats going to be at EVERY SCHOOL. How was the administrative communication? Were you advised of negative and positive activity? If your children were struggling with the curriculum how soon was it addressed? Was there a plan set in place and how active were you(the parents) in it?

My son attended Cheatham since kinder. He is now in 3rd grade. At the time we chose the school it was great! Awesome teachers, great staff. It stayed that way up until this year. 2015 has been the worst school year my son has ever had. He was bullied for months, verbally and physically and no one said anything to us. He finally broke down and let us know this happened all year. I took the steps. Went to the teacher & principal. Set up meetings and was assured they would take care of it. 2 months later nothing changed. My son was still coming home crying. He received no support from the school. As a parent I received no support. No reassurance my son was safe. The kids causing it were never disciplined. There parents were never notified. My son was a gifted student for the past 2 years and his grades dropped drastically because of this and yet his teacher had the nerve to tell us she didn't know why he was struggling. At 8 years old my son begged me to change him schools and we did just that. When I let the principal know this is what it came to he simply said" oh man I'm sorry" and walked away. I will never send my son back to that school and I will never recommend it again. Cheatham cannot keep teachers more then a year. Not one of my sons previous teachers is still here. Sad to see how the school has fallen apart.

Last year (2014), we loved our experience, my daughter had Ms. Life for kindergarten -best experience! The principal was very hands on Mr. Stephens was very well known, communication lacked at times but was consistent for a majority of the school year. This year 2015 has been horrific. My daughter used to love school, but now is upset going, teachers don't seem to have their heart in the right place, other students to exhibit poor behavior with no correction from staff, pick up and drop off very unorganized. My daughter doesn't know who the principal is and many other parents exclaimed they haven't seen or met him either. Picked my daughter up early no questions to confirm who I was- no ID check. That is a red flag. My daughter will not be attending this school next year.

First year my Daughter attending this school, very nice school. sobe of the 7th grade teachers are pretty brutal with the students. one older make teacher is always grumpy, when we have the patent teacher conference he is always grumpy, he takes like 2 mins. To talk to us. Than they have a female sub. Teacher that is always getting in kids faces and yelling. Miss B is an awesome teacher and takes the time to listen to her students. my Daughter had sobe of her Bday money stolen from her purse in music class, other kids have been robbed also. it is pretty sad that kids steal in plain view from other kids and teachers don't do anything about it.

This school is a mess!! My child has learned nothing since I placed them at this school. The special education program is a joke. The leadership team is worse. The asst Principal is a grumpy old lady who never supports the students just the staff. I do not support this school and suggest that you place your child at a high preforming school were they care about each and every child not just the staff.

The school is average a good school, but unfortunately some students are disrespectful with the teachers and another students but that is due family education, also too many fights between students. I thinks the school program is good but some students cause to much trouble . The school need to work Harder with the Esl program for students with English as a second language. My children are happy with the school but I am not due the bullying problems.

Cheatham Elementary seems a good school so far. My child just started in August. He has had problems with academic learning in previous schools. However, Cheatham has already taken action after they received a letter from my son's doctor. We met with the committee, and they are already taking steps to help my son with his academic success. His teacher is also very good at what she does, and seems to care about her students' success. So far, I am satisfied with this school.

Correction - the school is not performing - it's performing plus and actually had enough points to be excelling last year. The only thing that kept them from being excelling was that there weren't enough students exceeding the standards. The teachers have done a great job improving academics at this school.

This school is not a top scoring school. It is labeled "performing" by the Arizona department of Education. Which means many of the students are just barely meeting the expectations set up by AIMS. A "top scoring" school would be labeled as "excelling".

The unfortunate thing about this site is that the only people who review it are embittered parents who did't get their way or teachers who weren't allowed to skate by like they do at other schools. Cheatham was a mess several years ago, but the current principal has completely turned the school around. It is now one of the top scoring schools feeding into the Phoenix Union High School District. For doing such a great job, the princpal, Mr. Winters, was recently named one of only nine Rodel Exemplary Principals in the state! Rodel has selected him out of hundreds of principals to mentor future principals on how to do it right. I'm proud to live in Laveen. It's a great district with six great schools!

there's a lot of fighting, bullying & teachers don't seem to care or stop the bullying. There is a school uniform. But what I have noticed its not really enforced. Girls show up with short shorts, spandex pants. some students do not listen to the teachers.parents are not involved. I wish that the younger sudents would have shade during recess. Poor kids its so hot in the summer.
