I will never stop singing this school's praises until the day I die. I came to ALC on the verge of dropping out of high school altogether with a 0.5 GPA. The school was my HAil Mary to see if I could actually accomplish my goals of graduating. When I did in 2016, I did so with a 4.0 GPA. The teachers and every single staff member genuinely care about these students and will go the extra mile to see their students succeed. If you're looking at this school for your student, know that they can and will succeed here, but expect your student to do their part. Achieving goals is never easy. But the tools to succeed are in this little school. A message Dr. Canady would say was "everyone deserves a second chance", so I urge any parent to take that second chance here. Get that diploma, because it is possible.

Fantastic experience. Small classes, great teachers and faculty, we focus on success and encouragement for the future, be at college, trade school, Armed Forces, etc.

ALC was the third high school my daughter attended and the first one in which she thrived! The 1/2 day, small class environment suited her so well. Each teacher worked with her individually to find a learning program that worked for her. She loved her classes and loved her teachers and developed a love for learning and education that was wonderful to see. She is graduating in May and so excited to begin college in the Fall. It is a wonderful school!

If I could give Accelerated Learning Center (ALC) a galaxy of stars, I would. Our student needed a change from the traditional public school environment. The long school days and heavy homework demands were not compatible with the way she learns and processes information. After a turbulent freshman year at a large high school in our district, we made the decision to send her to ALC her sophomore year. Her experience at ALC resulted in her achieving the best academic success in her entire school career up to that point. After attending ALC for about a year and a half, she made the decision to finish high school online, where she continues to thrive academically. Because ALC offers a learning environment that is much more manageable, she saw that she was able to succeed and was empowered to continue to do well.ALC is a small, clean campus located in North Phoenix and has a student body of just under 200 students. It offers an intimate environment that is a welcome change from the very large public schools. Because of its small size, students are afforded one-on-one attention as needed from instructors. School days at ALC are four hours long and students may attend either a morning or an afternoon session. No homework is assigned. The curriculum is designed so that students can accomplish all of their work in the space of the four-hour school day.ALC has a fairly strict code of conduct and any disciplinary infractions are dealt with swiftly and fairly. That said, the principal and teachers are welcoming and compassionate towards all students and every student is treated with dignity and respect.ALC is an optimal environment for at-risk students. However, it is also a great alternative for any student who, for a variety of reasons, may welcome a shorter school day, would like to work at their own pace with the opportunity to graduate early, or who would benefit from a smaller, more intimate campus culture and setting.Education is not a one-size-fits-all proposition. We are fortunate that there are so many educational alternatives available to our students that differ from the traditional high school environment. For this reason, I would encourage any parent to consider ALC if their student, for whatever reason, would benefit from a change. Thank you, ALC, for making a difference in our student’s life. We are forever grateful.

ALC has been a godsend! My son was in two schools before this one, neither of which were a good fit. This school has been just what he needed -- small class sizes, attentive teachers and staff, half-day schedule. He is even going to graduate on time, even though he came in 6 months behind. They helped him catch up. I'm so grateful for this school.

Excellent!!!! We have recommended this school to a friend of our student and they will start their senior year at ALC. It has been life changing for our student. He was struggling in SUSD and lost interest in school - nearly failing. He finished up his Sophomore year with A's and B's at ALC and is looking forward to his Junior year.

My son who just graduated agrees that he should have enrolled as a freshman and completed 4 years at ALC. I SUPPORTED MY SON'S ATTENDANCE AT ALC AS OPPOSED TO OUR DISTRICT HIGH SCHOOL BECAUSE WE DID HAVE A BRIEF EXPERIENCE THERE AND IT WAS VERY DIFFICULT TO ACHIEVE SUCCESS DUE TO CLASS SIZE AND UNREALISTIC WORK EXPECTATIONS. THE ADVERSE AFFECT OF EXCESSIVE HOMEWORK, PROJECTS AND TESTING WAS, MY SON DID NOT LEARN AS MUCH IN THE TOP-RATED PUBLIC HIGH SCHOOL. AT ALC HE LEARNED EVERYTHING THAT WAS PRESENTED TO HIM WHICH WAS EXPONENTIALLY MORE DESPITE THE WORK WAS LESS VOLUME. MY SON ACHIEVED SUCCESS IN HIGH SCHOOL WHICH I COULD NOT HAVE LIKELY SAID HAD HE FINISHED HIS FOUR YEARS AT ANY OTHER HIGH SCHOOL, PRIVATE OR PUBLIC. We are very grateful to ALC for an amazing HS experience.

ALC provided an excellent alternative to SUSD. Our son began at ALC in his sophomore year. The experience was a positive one for him and allowed him to progress at his own pace. The teachers have a genuine understanding of kids who don't fit into the mold of a large public high school. I would definitely recommend ALC to any family with a student who is struggling at a traditional high school.

The accelerated Learning Center in Phoenix has been a life saver for my daughter. The school uses a well thought out and intelligent teaching format along with having a wonderful and dedicated staff that treat each teenager as family and an individual of worth that can succeed. Rather than overload kids with hours of homework, every principle and lesson is learned in class and must be passed successfully in order to move ahead to the next lesson. This allows one on one teaching when necessary and prevents failing a course for kids that need extra help or encouragement. The teachers here actually teach! My daughter now comes home and tells me of interesting and useful things she has learned, rather than telling me it is the same old boring stuff. The classes are small, around 15 students each. The entire school is small, well maintained, and is not lacking in equipment or teaching aids. Even paper and pencils are supplied, the student is not required to carry a backpack of heavy items. This is the first school that I know who the principal and vice principal are. It is amazing to see the vice principal stand at the gate and greet every student as they enter, and the principal in the parking lot every day after class to be sure those that drive are safely leaving the property. On several occasions I have walked into the office unannounced and instead of brushing me off or giving me an appointment for later, time was made to talk to me.This school is appropriate for those kids who should have been doing well but have been failed by the public school system for any number of reasons, possibly because they need more guidance or one on one help to understand a lesson. Because it is a 4 hour school day it is also for those who might need to work a job to support a family or have outside interests that require many hours outside of school. It is not for those that need the large number of competitive sports or on campus activities that a large school provides, and it is not for those that are serious discipline problems. This is a school for the student that wants to graduate, and wants to know that something is possible after the diploma, whether it be college or career. I am so grateful to have found this for my daughter and my only regret is that more towns do not offer this type of program. One size does not fit all when it comes to education.

My son was a student at both Horizon and Chaparral High School for his freshman and sophomore years, respectively. His experiences at both schools were disappointing to say the least while remaining respectful. He tried to explain to us in middle school that he found the larger public schools unsatisfying and asked to attend ALC his sophomore year. Unfortunately, we didn't listen clearly to what he needed at the time. He started to hate school and learning as well. He did have a few great teachers at both HHS and CHS. However, the other negative, overly authoritative teachers and administrative staff made his experience traumatic overall. We are so glad we took a second look and thoroughly checked out ALC. He feels respected by the staff at ALC and behaves respectfully in return. His grades have soared, reflecting the return of his self confidence and renewed joy of learning. He is now exploring the possibilities of higher education after graduation next year. We are so grateful for the administration and staff at ALC!! Kudos to all of you!

Everyone at ALC is committed to seeing the students succeed. Because the school is smaller, they really get to know all of the students and their needs. Teachers are very encouraging and helpful. My son was in Pinnacle High School and hated it and was falling behind on his credits. We switched to ALC and son really enjoyed his experience ALC and graduated on time with an outstanding academic achievement award!

We had such a wonderful experience at ALC. Dr. Canady, Mrs. Curran and all of the staff are amazing. They truly care about each and every student and do anything they can to ensure that the students are successful! We could not be happier with our son's high school experience at ALC.

I just want to say THANK YOU to Dr. Canady, Mr. Kabler, Mr Strnad and the entire staff at Accelerated Learning Center High School. My son graduated last night, it was very well done. I truly believe that if he continued at a regular high school he would not have made it through. This school was a perfect fit for my son. The staff was a critical part of his success, their patience and understanding was overwhelming. Thank you for believing in our children and giving them the chance to succeed!!!

I attended Accelerated Learning Center the second semester of my sophomore year. I had attended Horizon my freshman year and hated it. Being extremely behind on my credits, I was told I wouldn't graduate on time. I enrolled at ALC and not only did I graduate on time, I graduated EARLY. I would recommend this school to absolutely anyone and cannot express my gratitude enough to the staff of ALC. Class of '13!
