A good experience for sure. I feel at a larger school we may have experienced more difficulties and we are thankful our child had this intimate environment to grow and explore while stationed here in Petaluma. This school also has a level of mental health support that you would be hard pressed to find at other elementary schools.

Administration is the worst I have ever experienced.

No complaints. More after school extracurricular activitie this year, especially for the older students. My daughter really likes the art teacher and wishes she had that class more often! A language would be nice.

My daughter loved this school. The staff was very kind and helpful towards the children. It was a great experience for my child to ride her bike to and from school each day safely. I think her core education was very good. I was very disappointed that art, foriegn language and gifted and talented were not offered. Fundraising money was a concern for me, specifically is it being used in the most beneficial way for the students? Overall, I would choose for my child to go to this school again.

Finding it odd that there are no recent reviews on this school. My child is zoned to attend this school, but due to negative feedback from other parents with students attending Two Rock I chose to obtain a district transfer and have my child attend Tomales Elementary which is only a ten minute drive from Two Rock School, but is in Marin County instead of Sonoma County. Tomales is a small community school and after having my child attended this school for three years I can say without a doubt that this was the best choice. The teachers are awesome and caring and my child has flourished there. In addition my child has been offered opportunities like attending free summer camp at the school. Something not offered by Two Rock. If you are moving to the area and are zoned for Two Rock, I would suggest looking into Tomales Elementary instead. You just need to get a district transfer form from Two Rock and fill it out and submit it to Shoreline District. There is no guarantee that you will get the transfer as it depends on how many spots are open, but it is well worth the effort.

I'd like to add to my comment that this was a few years ago. The Sunday School teacher is no longer there but the point is, the principal at that time seemed unconcerned that this was going on. I'd like to again stress that the academics were not just good but very good and some of the "background" staff were actually very concerned and focused on each child doing well but the sad part is that some of the teachers ruin it for the rest of the staff. The liberal teacher I mentioned above is still there and seems to be at first harmless, very motivated and encouraging but unfortunately she has her own agenda and I overheard a few times her saying some things she should have kept to herself. Beware. (I'm not allowed to say her name but my words of advice: stay involved as much as possible!)

We are Coast Guard living off base but still chose Two Rock School. Mr Simpson is a wonderful principal who knows each and every child and parent. All teachers know all the kids even if they're never had them - about 190 kids this year I think overall K-6. The population is about 60% Coast Guard kids and 40% ranch families so it's a good mix. It's a small school but they do so much with what they have. My older child has an IEP and we are so happy with Susan Kelly, Resource Manager. For 4-6 graders with IEPs she is responsible for their core math and language curriculum and pulls them into small groups of 4 for this. My child thrived this year with the small group setting and is now showing more independence and we predict he won't need an aide next year at all. Great teacheres with a lot of years behind them, and a few new faces. Very, very happy.
