Unfortunately, the 2nd grade teacher was inept, inexperienced, and ultimately dropped out of her role. What was worse, the administration denied all parent concerns - and all parents were concerned. It turns out the 2nd grade class has had this issue for several years now. Due to the lack of accountability, I removed my son from the school. Rather than being a haven, we found New Horzion to be hostile, and sadly, petty environment (think: bitter auntie vibes). However, I must say his Arabic language teacher was truly excellent. We are not Muslim per se, though we respect the religion and cultures under the umbrella of Islam very much. I appreciate what the school offers on the LA landscape, but it was not an open minded environment for learning. For example, the Islamic Studies teacher for the lower grades constantly targeted my son because he was open minded about religions. It was a true disappointment, and a time consuming experience. We were not the only parents to pull their children out of the class.

This school is very nice, there aren't many bullies and it isn't terrible. Although, there is some type of racism for many cultures such as African-Americans and Asians. As well, the children are quite homophobic, which is sad, considering this is the new generation. I personally did not expect this from a private religious school. Lastly, there is a barrier between the girls and boys that, in ways, is quite sexist. Besides that, the teachers are very nice and the teaching is very thorough.

We love this school like family, and feel so happy to be able to put our children here. We moved to Pasadena to enroll our children here because we feel that giving children a strong religious and moral background from a young age is important. It builds the foundation for leading an honest and upright life with God at the center. We trust that the teachers and staff care for our children and will do anything to support them. The music, art, garden and PE help to give creative and physical outlets to the children. The Arabic program is second to none--the teachers and staff have developed the wonderful methodology to teach the kids and they go around the country to teach other schools how to teach Arabic. They start the young ones with a lot of verbal exposure through stories and then progress to writing as the years go on. In just a few short years the children are able to read and write very well. The academics are also very strong, and I believe our children will move on from this school capable of being at the level or higher than their age-related peers, as many alum have done in the past. We are so grateful to have this school in our lives.

This school has everything a parent can wish for! Incredibly dedicated teachers that are well educated and understanding to each students needs. A devoted principal who has put her heart into this school, and her devotion shows through her motivated team of incredible teachers and staff. A PTO that will put hard work into helping the schools fundraising projects, baking sales and yearly events. It's truly warming to see so many parents take part of the schools regular activities. We feel that we are all part of a big family, the school has opened up its arms to us and welcomed us to be part of its amazing and nourishing environment. We feel blessed to have our children attend this school and we look forward to seeing them graduate from here. We are part of the New Horizon School in Pasadena, a Blue Ribbon school, that will surely continue to grow and provide the high quality education it's known for. Our hearts are voting for you, even though we are truly winners already! Thank you for helping us raise our children to become the best that they can be!
