I have never seen a school be more concerned about them keeping the “grade A” school status they somehow hold, but they don’t care about the kids or the parents of the kids. No communication from the teacher whatsoever. The principal seems ill-fit for a job he seems too overwhelmed by, and the therapists for students who are on IEP’s don’t have enough help from the teacher whatsoever. The teachers are there to teach children who are there to learn, be on there best behavior, never act out (similar to a compound) - but heaven forbid we let our children under the ages of 6 be kids. Let’s hold them to the highest standards possible, which turns out is an impossible standard for the student and gives the parent more work. I can’t want to leave this school because certain people crossed the wrong family in the most foul way I can conceive.

This school prides themselves on being the best, but I see no help given to the children that need extra attention, any support. My spouse and I were turned down when we asked for an IEP in the beginning of the year. Instead of being proactive about the situation we got push back, basically saying our child was not failing enough to be recommended for it. It took us stating we were going to talk to the teacher’s boss (the principal) on this matter and finally we were taken seriously by second semester. Furthermore, the front office administrators are nothing but rude every time I need to call the school in regard to my child. My child has had numerous nosebleeds and a couple weeks ago they came home with full blown pink eye with no phone calls to us or any of their emergency contacts on file to come pick them up early for bloodshot and almost swollen shut eyes. I called the next day asking why we weren't called they simply said they're not doctors and can't diagnose. I understand the front desk administrators are not doctors and therefore cannot diagnose but if anyone that has a career involving young children, a parent would have appreciated a heads up to take them out of school instead of suffering the entire school day. Lastly, the only reason I know if my child has a bloody nose that day is because at pickup their shirt is covered in old blood. I know teaching right now is difficult with everything going on in the public school system, but this is unacceptable, and something needs be done about it.

This school is does not provide any support to students that are not on their learning curve. Does not send adequate homework from lessons learned in class. Teacher’s are not listening to students/parents concerns. I will be pulling my child from this school.

Have only been at this school for one year with two children in two different grades and overall I am not impressed. I have sent numerous emails to the principal and she does not respond. At one point she forwarded my concern to the school counselor. I have never seen a principal take such a hands off approach with parents. Homework from the teachers is very lazy, they only assign homework that is from a computer program. Nothing individualized. My kids have struggled in a couple areas and I have asked numerous times on what to work on at home and received nothing.

Just waiting to be done. Kids have friends here. Experience would be better if we were PTA board members, big donors $ or supported teachers with Starbucks beverages. Sadly we are not so our experience is less than average.

Not good. Right now my son is terrifying to go to school because the teacher makes him feel like he is not good enough. He is only 6, and gets home thinking he is not good. I believe no parent wants their kids to come home feeling this way.

Awful. If you do not spend 40+ hours a week volunteering don't expect your kid to be in any sort of club or be included in anything. The staff and volunteer moms are worse than the girls in High School.

We are blessed to have an amazing school with strong parent involvement. The kids have a lot of extra opportunities to grow thru STEM, SEM and the Arts. The teachers and admin truly care.

Terrible experience at this school. The teachers behave more like catty teaenagers than adults. They chat amongst themselves about the children and parents. if you don't donate or volunteer you can forget about your child getting into special programs. The teachers do nothing to promote unity amongst the students. If your child isn't the "model" student do NOT send yours to this school. The teachers do nothing to help kids compensate for weaknesses. They are more concerned about the next thirty one party, leggings party, or happy hour. Brooker creek is much more nurturing and down to earth.

If you are not a very active member of the PTA or generous donor ....your child will not get placed in the STEM program (which cwe claims is a lottery, it's not! ). Additionally, it's the students of these PTA parents that get chosen for all the pictures in the yearbooks, all the best SEM groups, and the best spots in the Enterprise Village field trip. This school needs to mix it up. Why continue to group all these kids together year after year??? Lots of bullying at this school without follow through by teachers or administration. And...the young teachers are too busy posting selfies and concentrating on their planned workouts to email parents. This school needs a major make over. Its parent Oriented , not student oriented. Don't waste your time , move on.

What an amazing experience both my sons had at this school. From Kindy, there was nothing but excellence all the way. In a couple weeks, my youngest son will be promoted to middle school and I have had a stellar experience with all teachers and staff at CWE. My family was blessed to have the personal connection of a private school education at a public school price at CW ! Thank you, thank you, thank you to great teachers, wonderful staff, and the best PTA for working together to provide a great educational foundation for my sons. As an involved mom, it was a great 7 years. We will miss you CWE but will always be Eagles!

This is a great school! They have good parental involvement and support, which translates to having resources that other area schools don't provide. It's a nice, safe neighborhood and is a good learning environment.

To reiterate about the last comment. We had a Great principal last year for 3 years or so and she was so great that the school board moved her to some troubled schools. Also, we have the most parent participation of all Pinellas Co!!!!! Low income families? I'm not sure where you are talking about because it cost a lot even just to rent around here...just because of how great the schools are :)

We had a great year at Cypress after moving here from up north--great teachers, nice parens. Then we experienced a disorganized, biased, down right mean teacher who has since left Cypress. Another teacher had complete inability to control the class. Two Principals in two years, not a good sign. There are many stellar educators here, but there are a group of bad apples. Be careful. Also, the school draws from a low income area, so some of the families did not share our values/language/behavior guidelines. Both my children were bullied. We ultimately switched schools.

The majority of the educators at Cypress are committed, loving and nurturing of their students. My kids have thrived at Cypress Woods but I am also heavily involved in their education and know that it is important to be involved and be an advocate for your child. The Florida education budget means that our teachers have too many kids in a classroom and are underfunded. It's up to parents to bridge the gap... be involved and support your school, your kid's will only benefit. Thank you CWE community!

I would have to agree with the post that was submitted on June 9th. This school is very tight knit. My son began kindergarten here and is now going into second grade; both years he had less than stellar teachers, to put it nicely. Neither of them communicated lessons or classroom assignments very well. I would get messages such as... "oops, sorry i forgot to send out the homework, you can send me a note if you want your child to do it".... what? Also, my son was kept on the same reading level for months until I wrote the teacher a message asking if she had noticed an improvement,(we read had been reading nightly together and he was doing great) she then moved him up 4 levels. I am looking for a new school!
