We have had nothing but a great experience. We came in from out of state and the school was a breath of fresh air. Our kids were miserable at the school they attended. They love to go to school and they are excelling with the help of the staff at the school.

This school needs an extensive rehaul. I don't think this new principal completely understands what she got herself into. There are some extremely toxic teachers at this school who ruin it for the good ones. Families are moving left and right. Children of blue valley staff/faculty are used to bully students. Substitutes have been used to do the same as they are hired by their toxic teacher friends. Basic/typical student interactions are managed by counselors, social workers, speech therapists and psychologists. Its ridiculous. The PTO groups are always fighting with one another most likely because they are involved for themselves and not for students/teachers/education. Parents also feel the need to be overly involved for the safety of their children at the school. The previous review about a child of a bv teacher bullying is spot on. This is what they do...rally their kids to harass families they don't approve of being in their schools so they are not held accountable. I don't recommend. Move elsewhere.

With a non-responsive outgoing principal we were hopeful that the new principal would be more active and responsive in dealing with a bullying aggressive student unfortunately that hasn't been the case. She has left emails regarding this bullying kid unanswered for two weeks and the behavior continues. This bully also has a Blue Valley teacher as a parent. so I wouldn't be surprised if this factors in to the lack of leadership regarding this issue. Other than that the gifted teacher is great and in general it is a pretty good school.

I would not recommend this school. The school is ran by catty moms (pto) and teachers.

This school has amazing programs. Children learn about artists in art class, learn to play lots of instruments in music class. There are programs for ESL students, gifted students, and all types of extra help for children with special needs. The teachers work very hard and the staff is exceptional. They genuinely care about every person who walks thru the doors. My children are learning at an exceptional rate, both in reading and math. The PTO tries to help the school with programs and funding. My family is all very happy with SRE!!!!!

Sunset Ridge Elementary is a good school. Parents are very involved and there are many extra activities to take part in and opportunities to volunteer. Unfortunately, there is a Full Day Kindergarten teacher that came to the school on acedemic probation from another school in the district who is unfit to teach. Many parents enroll there kids in another school for K to avoid this teacher and then transfer back to Sunset Ridge for 1st grade. The principal of this school, although relatively new, has done absolutely nothing to remedy the situation.
