I am extremely disappointed with Laureate Elementary School this year. My child’s 4th-grade experience has been nothing short of chaotic. After just two months, the 4th-grade teacher was promoted to another role, leaving the class completely unsettled. On the very same day, she removed all the classroom decorations, creating an atmosphere that felt cold and unwelcoming for the students. It was incredibly disheartening for my child and their classmates.Since then, the class has been shuffled between various substitute teachers, and there has been no consistency in their learning. It feels like the students have been forgotten, with no permanent teacher in place even now. This lack of stability and foresight on the school’s part has negatively impacted the children, both academically and emotionally. Laureate Elementary needs to prioritize the well-being and education of its students instead of making abrupt decisions that leave young learners in such a difficult position.

This school is all over the place. Don’t let the 9/10 rating fool you because those parents who have rated it high, haven’t had the need to contact administration. The policies in place with OCPS, especially as it pertains to bullying, aggressive behavior and unwanted physical harm, are laughable. If your child has been seen playing with or knows the offender, there’s nothing they can or will do. Always push for an investigation to protect your child. My other issues with the school are the lack of consistency in following the curriculum and the teacher’s role in just teaching enough so students pass the state exams, which apparently parents shouldn’t worry about. Each teacher in every grade thus far has taught, graded and disciplined completely different from year to year and teacher to teacher. Some classes have an hour+ of homework per night but others none. Some teachers help kids during the exams, others don’t. Special need students, which are increasing every year, are matriculated into a standard classroom without much support. Teachers are often overwhelmed by this and it shows. Totally unfair to everyone in the classroom. I think LPE could really improve in this area but the retort is always, that’s what the county mandates. They group Advanced and Gifted Children but those that are in need of ESL or have IEPs barely get help. This school hides behind “that’s what the county wants us to do” but has no checks and balances internally. After four frustrating years, we plan on pulling our child next year to go to private school, what we should have done after kindergarten.

Laureate Park Elementary values the connection between families, the community, and academic success.

I recently moved from out of state and I am so impressed with how advanced the school is in terms of what they are learning. Recently having moved from Fairfax county VA, I initially thought that FL schools were not as academically strong but I was completely wrong. Due to Covid, a lot of kids in other states fell behind unfortunately and it appears that due to the policies of keeping FL schools open they have far surpassed the academics of other states that remained in distanced learning. I am honestly so impressed with the staff, curriculum, and the customer service of the front office. Highly recommend!
