There is truly no other school that measures up to Oneida High School!

I graduated from Oneida High School in 1998 and it was integral in me graduating from one of the hardest colleges in Tennessee with a BA in Education. My Junior English class was harder than most of the classes I took in college and I was very well prepared for anything that college thru at me. Most of the negative reviews are clearly from disgruntled ex-students trying to give this amazing school system a bad name. OHS has its issues, but 90% of those problems are the mindless, lazy, entitled punks that complain about everything and probably aren't working right now. Just mho.

I am going to be a senior next year at OHS, and I have been there for the 1st 3 years. I can say that a very small percentage of the staff knows what they're doing. As someone previously stated, the biology teacher, the teacher for core math (algebra, geometry, etc.), and a few other misc. teachers actually try to teach you and prep you for college like schools in better areas would be able to (mostly because they aren't from around here). However, most of the teachers neglect teaching anything. They expect you to know or figure out everything on your own. You can easily pass any class, but for those ambitious enough to attempt straight A's, you're more or less teaching yourself everything, especially in advanced courses. Only one teacher is certified to teach advanced English, she can hardly remember what year it is, the only certified AP math teacher knows her stuff, but she barely teaches you any of it and then sets you loose to figure the rest out on your own while she talks about her family, as is the case with most math teachers here. All in all, you'll get a high school diploma, but don't expect to be the smartest man/woman entering any college. Staff review + change needed.
