Superb, unique, diverse community that is incredibly warm and welcoming. Academics are challenging, teachers are supportive. There is really nothing like it anywhere.

Thacher is a very stressful school, and I worry about the kids I know that go there because they get so stressed. I think its a great oppurtunity to get to go, but there is hardly any diversity. Families that I've met there all dress matching and color coded with sweater's hanging from their shoulders. Those aren't the kind of people that I want my kids to be surrounded with.

Now a Junior, our daughter looks back on the freshman year western horseback riding program and realizes that it bonded her class together more strongly and positively than she could have imagined. Thacher's commitment to, and support of, a healthy residential life program is reflected in the presence of a class with fewer than 5% local day students and compelling on-campus weekend social activities, including a weekly all--school "open house" party hosted by the beloved Headmaster and his English teacher wife at their beautiful on-campus residence. As parents, this puts us in the enviable position of being high school parents who know EXACTLY where, and with whom, our child is on Saturday nights. School-wide, incidents involving alcohol or drugs have been none to speak of. Admitting only 12% of applicants, Thacher is the most selective boarding school in the nation. The school combines superb academics, a talented and caring long-standing and diverse faculty with an admirable school culture that genuinely embraces an all encompassing Honor Code. The resulting character and academic development are stunning to watch, both in our daughter and her classmates. She is nurtured and challenged and the school, faculty, and administration have exceeded our wildest expectations. Kudos to visionary Headmaster Michael Mulligan who is the living embodiment of Thacher's uniquely western ethos. Its location on several hundred beautiful acres with a beautiful view of the Ojai Valley doesn't hurt either!

if ever there was a model as to how and what the high school experience should be, Thacher is it. my daughter will graduate on Saturday, and is headed in the fall to Williams College. The academics are second to none and during her Harvard interview they told her the course load at Harvard would be easier:) The educators and the staff are committed to the kids and their well being...ideal. is the only word to describe.

I used to visit this school the year before last year. The family like, small community really got me. I love that everyone could tell any other student's name, and have chance to know them at many circumstances.

what they do here at this school is nothing short of a miracle. The teachers, the faculty, all have one goal, to make your child the best they can be, not only academically but socially as well. the head of schools should teach others how to lead by example. My daughter was always a great student, she got into Exeter, and Andover, but Thacher was always our first choice and it was the right one. She is thriving, the way she has grown in two years is amazing. The kids are taught how to be responsible, ethical citizens of the world AND are given an education second to none..If every child had an opportunity to attend a place like Thacher, the world would be a much different place.
