I can't express enough how grateful I am for the incredible experience my daughter has had at Oak Grove School. From the moment she first stepped onto the campus, it felt like we had found a second home for her education journey. One of the standout features of Oak Grove is the nurturing environment they've created. It's not just a school; it's a community that genuinely cares about the well-being and growth of each child. The teachers and staff go above and beyond to foster a sense of belonging, making every student feel seen and heard. We feel so blessed to be at Oak Grove School!

Wonderfully RARE! The things that drew me to Oak Grove when I decided to enroll my son were the small class sizes, which really allows teachers to get to know students and their distinct learning styles and needs. I also love how Oak Grove believes that every child should experience the world beyond the classroom as an essential part of learning and personal development, so outdoor learning is a part of their curriculum. Finally, the since of community among the parents, students and staff is very refreshing and I am truly delighted to be a small part of it!

This is a haven for children and teachers who value childhood.

My daughter attended Oak Grove from kindergarten through graduation. She had the option to change schools at any point but always chose to return to Oak Grove. She loved the teachers, the natural beauty of the campus, the wildlife that could be spotted, the trips she went on, and the care she felt while a student there. As parents, we appreciated the focus not just on academics but also on turning out young adults who can think critically, speak eloquently, question authority (and their own thoughts!), and demonstrate compassion. We also appreciated the numerous opportunities for her to step outside of her comfort zone and be stretched and challenged, including hiking Angel's Landing, traveling to India and many occasions for public speaking.

Excellent. Our kids are finishing up. We will see how they do, and where they go next! I love love love that all kids have Spanish every year they are at Oak Grove. The school also creates a rich feeling of community which means a lot to me because I work long hours and have a long commute. My time on campus really makes me feel like Im part of something great.

Year after year, I keep falling in love with the school. Recently I dropped my kids off and went into the beautiful main house for a quick coffee and a nibble from the kitchen and there was a student newspaper, the front page story headline was "Who is God?" which reminded me that this is a school that's not afraid to go for the big questions. (not to mention the article was very interesting and well written by a high school student). When my kid enthusiastically wants to discuss the meaning of "fear," and read something to us during dinner from class he found fascinating; or when my wife and I found him meditating in the back yard under a tree (I sh*t you not)...I fall in love with the school. My kids are being challenged academically for sure, and more importantly (to me) they are growing up to be really interesting, confident, and interested people. We only have experience with a few other schools but how my wife and I feel about Oak Grove is just beyond grateful. We have bonded with other parents and teachers and it's been really fun getting to know the community. Our kids love their school, their friends, their teachers and are very happy enthusiastic learners. What more could we ask for?!

Oak Grove has such a beautiful campus and the staff are so kind, that it’s easy to forget that Oak Grove is not all things to all people. To find out if it’s a good fit for your child, consider asking these questions – the same questions we wish someone had told us to ask before we decided to send our daughter there:1.) What is the school policy regarding homework? And is it consistent from year to year?2.) What kind of institutional support is available for students who need either more challenging math or supplemental instruction? 3.) Why is the Learning Lighthouse tutoring center so full of Oak Grove cars?4.) Oak Grove has lovely camping trips. But how are these trips integrated into what is happening in the classroom? 5.) Where is the library?6.) Why is high school enrollment so much smaller than preschool enrollment? Is there an attrition problem? 7.) Where did last year's grads go to school? What percent went on to four-year colleges and universities and not community colleges, two-year art schools, and gap years? 8.) What A.P. courses are offered on campus (beyond what can be done online)?9.) Kirshnamurti said that students should learn to ask good questions and observe deeply but how does that actually translate into a day to day curriculum? What did he say about what a school should be and where, specifically, can one find those writings? 10.) Why did Jim Bailey, the award winning and very popular science teacher, quit to start his own school? Why did he feel he could not exercise his creative ambitions at Oak Grove? 11.) Does Oak Grove have a policy against hiring family members of existing staff? 12.) Does the art teacher have a formal background in either art or education?13.) Is there a conflict resolution program that builds from year to year? Or does each teacher handle it differently?14.) What after-school enrichment activities are offered at Oak Grove?15.) There are two tennis courts. Is there a tennis program?17.) What, if anything, are the consequences for high school students who skip class? All in all, we are happy our daughter attends Oak Grove - again, they are kind people there - but we have to supplement her education a great deal out of school and that takes time, money, and energy. So just ask a lot of questions and don’t let yourself be blindsided by the extraordinarily beautiful campus.

For the past 8 years, my children have blossomed at Oak Grove. I am beyond satisfied with the quality education as well as the kindness of the teachers and staff. This year, I wasn't surprised to learn that Oak Grove School had TWO alums featured in Forbes 2014 30 Under 30." Thank you Oak Grove!

My son has attended Oak Grove School for the last six years. The learning environment is very supportive of the individual needs of each student while balancing the overall needs of the group. I have watched my son's love of learning grow as his education progresses. I am happy to be a part of the Oak Grove community.
