This is a great school. Our son is starting 3rd grade and we’ve loved all of his teachers from Kindergarten on. The school’s environment is welcoming, positive, supportive & puts emphasis on kindness and doing your best. The Principal along with teachers are friendly, easy to communicate with, responsive and show kindness and care towards students. Academics and attendance are taken seriously as evident in Almond Grove’s top rating in Oakley.

I just love our school. It’s been such a warm and welcoming experience since we started here in kindergarten with my oldest.

The school is clean. They followed health guidelines strictly which is very good. However, me and my child has a terrible experience in this school particularly on Transitional Kindergarten program. My child has been saying things about his classmates doesn't like him, he was always pushed and kicked. But since my child have speech disability, I honestly cannot confirmed what he was saying. Although he was always begging me that he doesn't want to go to school anymore which I can certainly understand. Friday afternoon when I was walking to pick up my son, I found him on the curb, lost and looking around for me. His teacher has no idea how my child end up there until a parent told her. She was freaking out. Yelling and blaming my son in front of other parents and students counting the total school days has past saying "it's 72 days of school already" and yelled at me, "you know what, your son doesn't know how to follow rules" As a parent, I wanted my son to have fun in his first school experience, but I regret that I signed up my son for this and he experience the cruelty of other people. I was crying driving home and I felt very sorry for my son that he had to experience this. I felt so embarrassed in front of other parents. I understand the teacher's emotion. But as an educator, she should not forget her ethics in any given situation. Unfortunately, the district did not do anything about this and just told me to talk to the principal. The principal just talk to the teacher and sent me apology.

Wow. I am so pleased with this school! My daughter is finishing her second year here and I wouldn't move her for the world. What I see are passionate, dedicated, fun teachers who can be fun AND discipline the kids appropriately, not an easy balance to strike. I see a principal who is a real go-getter with strong leadership characteristics. The office staff have hearts of gold and just really seem to love working there, and know what they are doing. The librarian is a classic book-loving lady who is passionate about REAL books in an age where screen time is replacing them. (She is also into the new technology, which is good I realize.) And I see very decent and involved parents, which makes me feel so good and at-home at this school. (I also notice a lot of dad involvement, which is kind of rare, I think.)I feel very lucky and blessed to have my precious little girl at this school. (Oh, and so far I have not experienced her coming out of school late.)

I have been completely happy with this school. We are in our 3rd year.. The staff and teachers are excellent. They work on building character and treating others with respect! I do agree with another review sometimes the students are out late but also understand these teachers are trying to cram every second of learning in for our kids and I appreciate that!

My kid is in their second year at Almond Grove and I am very pleased with the school and all of the staff. Every teacher I have met has been friendly and cares about the students, the principal is very involved and surprises me with how many kids she knows personally, the office staff is helpful, the campus is clean and well kept, the school and homework seem appropriate for age level and the PTA makes every effort to involve the families with special events throughout the year. The only criticism I have ever had is I wish the school was more current in the way they communicate and "do business". The teacher uses Class Dojo (an app you can download on phone) to keep you up to date with classroom but the school is very dated still using a bunch of flyers and old fundraising methods. It would be nice if they could send out updates via email and have more web-based options for school fundraisers.Regarding the previous review regarding the school's timeliness, I agree to a certain extent. It's not uncommon for them to be up to 5 minutes late coming out, but being that the teacher is trying to get 25+ elementary age students lined up and out the door I don't think that's unreasonable.

this school has no concept of being on time, sometimes your kids may get out on time but 90% of the time they will not. You never know sometimes its 12 mins late, or 5 mins late. But rarely do they let them out on time, they don't care what the parents have going on. If you need to make appointments or get to work on time, or pick up your other child from another school. be prepared to be late.
