My granddaughter goes there and the other granddaughter did too . Walker Elementary is by far the best school in Tuscaloosa County. My husband and I are both retired teachers and we are very impressed with this school. All the staff and teachers are very involved with the students and make everyone feel welcomed and loved. We love Walker!!! Go Rams!!!

My daughter attended this school and has now moved on to Middle. They are far above most of the other county schools. Matter of fact, one of her friends from a different school was not even close to be on the same level. As far as reading, I taught my child at home to start reading in kindergarten and it has followed her through, she is top reader in her class every year. It takes team work both PARENTS and TEACHERS and all those TEACHERS go above and BEYOND! I have never had an issue with the school system period. Northside Middle is the same way. I love the school and the teachers.

I took my child out of this school because they have a terrible habit of dishing out punishment before getting to the bottom of the problem. Pretty backwards approach for educators. I have also witnessed staff talking out of both sides of the mouth. My child has always loved going to school until the encounters he experienced at this school.

To the parent who said the teachers at Walker Elementary don't teach spelling, I can tell you my child is taught new words every week and then tested on them every week; furthermore, I saw many misspelled words in YOUR comment. Maybe you should have used spell check or better yet a dictionary. With that said I do sometimes feel this school is a bit behind on some areas. My child is in the first grade so we have a ways to go in her education, but if I feel she is getting the short end of the stick in her education at any point I will look at other options. I have great confidence in Walker Elementary and my child has become even more of a shinning bright star since she has been there. We as parents have to do our part in teaching our kids new things too and preparing them for the future.

I can only suggest this school if average is fine with you. An A in this school will only get you low b or a c in other schools. Education is very poor. Kids love it because they are limited on how much they will learn if they are not in the Gate program. So they have a lot of free time.

look the fact is that they don't believe in teaching a child to spell because we as a society use spell check and all they need to no is how to identify a word. we have met with all 5 teachers I personally feel that only 2 of them are qualified to teach kindergarten much less 5 th grade. The administration is new and they (teachers) were quick to point fingers and put blame on the new assistant principal and new principal. I cam not recommend this school to anyone. I can only hope that the new administration can turn it around.

Walker is a fantastic school. the faculty and staff really care for the kids and model the behavior and attitudes that they teach.
