Great! I believe they stand out with integrity in the field of education where others succumb to societal pressure to not have students be expected to do hard things or families be held accountable. There is a difference!

TECS has a high standard for teachers and students with a resulting high outcome.

I’ve always felt it my responsibility to educate my child. Education does not stop when the school bell rings. We transferred to this school and haven’t ever regretted it. It challenges my children. They are focused on learning instead of fads, and I have gladly supported the projects and/or homework. There is not a fight about the work, we just do it & carry on with our evening. My main concern was whether or not my children would be able to succeed in high school & college. The K-8 years are so foundational for their preparation to succeed. I have been pleased to see my children succeed in their upper level education because of the study skills they learned and well-rounded education. It was the best choice for my six kids!

My experience at this school started out alright, but then quickly spiraled into disappointment, burnt out children and parents, and it became a fight everyday for my kids to want to go to school. I felt like I had to fight to be heard and taken setiously at times, and they constantly remind you that there are "so many kids waiting on a list to get into this school..." anytime we would get any sort of dress code warning, or too many tardies. The bottom line is, we just felt like a number, and if we didn't meet their high standards, or spoke up too much, they wanted us out. That was my feeling anyway. I will say this though, their librarian is AMAZING! Such a sweet lady, does fun things in the library for the children, and my kids loved her! And many of the teachers are so kind, but some need some improvement.

We've loved Thomas Edison Charter School. I love the curriculum, it's been great for my daughter. I love the teachers and the administration, they are kind and helpful. I love that the principal works on knowing every single kids name, it makes thwm feel special.

My daughter has attended TECS for two years. I am very pleased with the level of caring and genuine concern the teachers and staff have over each student. The teaching styles across the board are really good. I like that teachers can help each student to a degree and that if a child excels in an area they won't hold them back for the rest of the class to catch up.They present the information in an easy to understand way and then give homework out that backs up what they learned in the class room. I was surprised at how much homework is issued for Kindergarten and first grade. 1 spelling sheet, 1 math sheet, and 10 minutes of reading (students choice of material) Monday through Thursday. It takes my daughter about half an hour to do the homework. If your child struggles with reading the homework can be hard, but if you take the time as a parent to help them out the homework is very beneficial. There are two things this school can improve on, one is to be better with conflict resolution between the students. My daughter is very social and makes friends easy, but she doesn't deal with confrontation well or when others are mean or annoying on purpose because they know it bothers her. Teachers tend to separate kids that get on each others nerves which is good, but that always seems to be the end of the issue. I understand they don't have a lot of time, but they should really make time to talk with the students to try and resolve the issues. The other thing they could improve on is their school library. It is rather small and for kids that excel with reading this can be an issue. Also kids can only take 1 book home per their grade. So 1st can take 1, second can take 2 and so on and so forth. I understand it as a way to protect their books and that levels of responsibility are different for each age but when you have a responsible child it can make things difficult. I had to create an account at the school library and personally go in and check out books for her. Doable... but slightly annoying, especially when your child goes through 3 to 5 books in a day.
