I have loved our experience at this school. It has a diverse population and a community that feels like family. The teachers here are so special and my child has loved every teacher he has had!

We had a great experience with our older kids. They have only fond memories of their school and teachers. Most of their teachers are still in contact with them even after so long.

This is our first full year at Jefferson. And while there has been a principle change, Mrs. Atkinson is very involved. She is at every assembly, event out on by the school, and at the drop off/pick up line. The staff is wonderful and caring, the student population is very diverse, which was important to us, and my kids have adjusted very well. My 2nd grader is being challenged by being offered 3rd grade math and spelling. The teachers want the kids to succeed and give them the tools to be successful and challenged at the same time. The parent involvement has been nice to see; especially the dads that step up to be a part of a special program called watchdogs. Having male figures around(when some kids may not have that at home) brings a positive atmosphere for all to learn from. So glad to be a Jefferson Dragon!

This school is a diamond in the rough! It's location allows many different socioeconomic groups to fill its hallways. In the past, one principal was in charge for nearly two decades. And while they have had some changes in that position over the last two years, the new principal, is leading the way for staff, students and parents to have the most amazing experience while they are in attendance. As in life, communication is key, and that is no different here. Staying in touch with teachers, administrators and other parents, will give you the best chance at an enjoyable experience. If you have a problem with someone, don't let it go and then blame the teacher or someone else. Your child's education is first and foremost your responsibility. You can't allow your children to neglect their homework or not pay attention in class and turn around and blame the teacher. They do not go home with your children, but they do amazing things during the 8 hours they have them. The negative comments on this page are most certainly from the parents who expect the school and it's staff to fix all the problems with their child without every stepping up to the plate themselves.

This is the worst school to send your child to, my family is being harrassed by my nephew teachers and the principal. We have had Dhs called on us twice, because he had bruises on him which sometimes he comes home with them, he is a very active boy this is ridiculous,Dhs never found anything wrong the first 2 times, so than the school called the cops, and my nephew has a speech problem to this is clearly harrassment. If anyone who has a tough boy that likes to jump and play don't send them to this school.

My daughter is in her second year at Jefferson. She went for Pre K and is now in Kindergarten. Her teacher last year was fantastic. This year her teacher is just as awesome. The only issues we have had are with other students, the front office lady, and the PE teacher. The front office lady has been downright hateful to my five year old multiple times. So much so that I felt it necessary to contact the principal. The PE teacher is just not really a kid person. She's not so friendly to adults either, actually. The problems we have had with the other students have definitely caused some stress. There are several boys in my daughter's kindergarten class who bully her and other girls. They call names, kick, etc. I'm aware that kids don't always make the best choices but I feel like it happens a lot. We have also had issues with boys kissing her and other inappropriate things. The schoolThe school has a fairly wide range of income levels, races, and social classes. Some children don't speak english well. There is a new principal this year who seems to be very "no nonsense". She is doing great so far. Overall we like the school. But they definitely have some areas that need improvement.

We have only experience good teachers. The principal is amazing. My daughter has learned so much and the structure has helped her behavior too. Teachers have open communication and seem to actually LOVE their jobs. I wouldn't want my daughter anywhere else!

We love this school so much! The principal is wonderful. Teacher turnover rate is low, parent involvement is high and the programs offered are great!
