This have to be the worst school ever in Newark !!! where do I start this school lost of my children IEP there's no proof in there system that my child was receiving speech. One of the social workers quit and when he left he stole my kids file !!! My other son was diagnosed with autism this school did nothing to help get him the proper support he needed in the classroom. The principle Dr.Gayle DENYED the school evaluations for my son to get the proper diagnosis he needed which I had to do on my own from my own medical insurance. There no support of help for kids on the spectrum . The teachers are horrible they use to leave my son in a soiled pull-up all day long . He ended up getting his head busted open in school and when you reviewed the security cameras it showed the teachers ( 3) teachers to be exact did nothing to stop my son from getting hurt . This school made my life and children life sooooooooooo hard !!!!!!!!!! I finally got my children out of this school and they refuse to update my son IEP to reflect him going to kindergarten. I reported this school to CPS, & the state , I hope they shut this school down . This is a warning to all parents who children has special needs please don't put your child in this school !!

I know that we want to the best for the kids by putting their little brains to work so that they can reach their fullest potential posible BUT, some of the curriculum set up is a bit much for 1st and 2nd graders and the homework is excessive which in some cases causes the child to fail

Me & my kids love to school, they have learned & grew so much academically. I just hate paying 135 a month for after care & my kids homework isn’t being done im just basically paying yall to babysit for an extra hour. Also this new location sucks putting a school in the middle of downtown Newark was a very bad idea!!!! The traffic is horrible by the time im home its almost 6pm & still have to do homework and other things is crazy

I recommend NECCS to parents seeking a unique learning environment for their child or children. NECCS has been through many changes throughout the years yet the students remain the top priority. I appreciate the communication from the staff and look forward to my child continuing this journey with the school. My child is extremely excited to attend school and I am pleased to hear about his day. Nice and educated teachers with kind professional staff.

My child really enjoys this school and they offer so much (dance, robotics, karate) that she comes home every day with stories.

This school should not be open. If I could give it 0 stars I would. The students are not given tools to be successful and leadership is lacking. I would not recommend this school to any parent or new teacher. Parents who have students with disabilities avoid this school at all costs. More than likely your student will not have their needs met. New teachers avoid this like the plague because you will not get any fruitful training or adequate mentorship.

This is school is a horrible example of what a charter school should be. The leadership team can learn a lot from top notch charter schools such as KIPP, Northstar, Great Oaks and Robert Treat. The special education program is bogus meetings are held for the parents just to find out months later the teacher or TAs quit. The principal is horrible and needs to be replaced. Do not send your child here it will be a waist of time especially if your child has a IEP. This school lacks a proper playground there are too many red flags.

I would rate the school a 7/10. The teachers are amazing and really try to engage with the kids. I will say that they make it hard to be involved. The school is located in downtown right across from the school. They are building an ihop right in front of that. I’m not even sure how that even got approved. The traffic is scary especially with kids coming in and out the street. My biggest concern is safety. It’s very dangerous for the kids to be in an constructing area. We don’t even know what they are breathing. My kids won’t be coming back for that reason only

This school is actually K-5 and provides a top-notched acadmic program to all of its students. An inclusive classroom setting, staffed by two qualified teachers ensures that all students receive the attention that they deserve.

This is my second year teaching at NECCS. I have seen much positive growth during my time here. Our new administration is competent, dynamic, committed and inspirational! The staff has been challenged and invigorated. We are a school of focused, hard-working students and teachers. There is a great deal of professional development for teachers here and we have seen tremendous student growth this year. Next year in our new building, I am sure we will continue to grow in a positive direction! Don't let negative comments posted during previous years sway you. Our charter has been renewed for five more years! We are working hard and accomplishing much! This is a GREAT school with a powerful mission moving in the right direction!

When I think of NECCS, I feel relieved to know that this school is providing opportunities for children to learn in an environment where they feel safe and cared for. When I visit the school, I see children smiling , happy and full of confidence. They are not afraid to express themselves and the teachers seen to encourage it. I really like that as in the past, children were expected to be seen, but not heard. I'm happy to know that NECCS values children and hold high expectation for them. I would recommend this school to anyone who believes that all children deserves to learn.

I am so impressed with the positive changes that have happened this year at NECCS! As a parent, it is refreshing to see the new administrators turn the school around. The building is certainly more settled. My kids' teachers are wonderful, and there is lots of learning going on!
