This school has caring, loving teachers who are excellent at what they do. The small class sizes makes for more effective learning and the project based learning makes being in school more enjoyable.

As a current anonymous student, I can say that this school is not the worst I've ever been to, HOWEVER, it is leaving me to rot in my depression.

Horrible. I would have been better dropping out than going to this school. This place was founded by con artists and made too many poor decisions over the years. The school has horrible test scores and horrible location. The teachers are either under qualified, unprepared, or have already been fired. The students are disrespectful and uncontrollable. This school should not be run anymore. Think of the students.

The worst disorganized mess I've ever seen

Enrolled my son in 2015, because I felt he would benefit from the smaller class sizes. He never had an interview as their website states. I was assured repeatedly that there would be a bus picking him up and dropping him off as every school in my experience has done. This was a complete nightmare from the first day of school. After waiting two hrs for the bus, my son called me because the closest bus pick up location was over a mile away, and across an extremely busy intersection. Vehicles routinely fly through the red lights here. I also had to drive 40mins to pick up his friend as the bus picked up some students, said there wasn't anymore space and would return. The driver never returned. This child lived ten miles from the pick up location, his mom couldn't leave work, and he didn't have money to catch the bus. Needless to say, I was terminated from my employment because was consistently late, or had to ask to leave because the bus rarely showed up. Spoke to the principal almost everyday, and was told that we're still working the kinks out, bear with us. My concern was of the safety of these children being stranded miles from home almost everyday! I was told the uniform code, and abided by the information given to me. If it wasn't the bus situation, it was my son calling saying he was sent to the office because he wasn't dressed properly. He would text me saying the teacher still hasn't showed up for his class. It was a complete nightmare. I decided to pull him out, and enroll him in the local high school.. Two years later I'm STILL trying to sign my son out of this school! The schools here you have to sign your child out, and then take their records to enroll in the other school. They don't request the records like most schools and states that I've lived in normally do. They don't have him enrolled in any classes, we've not received a schedule for last year and this year. There's been no direct communication. I've tried multiple times over and over to speak to the principal about why won't his staff allow me to withdraw my son. The kicker? They have reported him for truancy twice. Apparently I'm not the only parent having this issue, as the court employees and judge didn't seem surprised. They also couldn't offer me any recommendations on how to get him withdrawn another way. My son was a fairly good student. He knows the information, he just has some testing issues, which I thought a smaller classroom with more one on one time would help with. The only thing I can think of is having a police present to assist me to withdraw him. I have four children, and I've never ever had anyone refuse to let me withdraw them.

I am a former student and this school drove me out my senior year. The environment was toxic and I 10/10 don’t recommend going there

Delaware Design Lab continues to be a better alternative to Delaware's regular public schools. Great teacher support. Safe learning environment with 'zero' tolerance for bullying. They have high expectations of students, which we feel is a great thing. Also, all students are required to complete 20 hours of community service each year, which is great for overall student development. Absolutely great school.

My experience with DDLHS thus far is excellent. The Administration, Teachers, and Staff are truly invested in the students. DDLHS competed with thousands of High Schools across the country and is now 1 of 10 High Schools to earn a 10 million dollar grant as well as earning the much deserved title of being a -'XQ Super School'- in the U.S. We're so glad we chose DDLHS over Voc Tech. Truly the best decision. By the way, our child came home with homework 'every' night including some weekends.
