Portfolio gets two big thumbs up from us. We have been extremely happy with the school mostly because our son is happy at school. Portfolio is a safe space where our son is learning and thriving. For the first time in a long time, he loves going to school (as it should be at 6 years old). He is exciting about the subject matter, feels a sense of ownership and has increased in confidence. He is learning because he wants to, not because he has to and the fun part is he is taking the whole family with him. He is getting us all excited to learn and to make connections each day.

Absolutely fantastic experience. Our child is truly excited about going to school every morning, which is almost shocking, as we never saw that at another otherwise perfectly good school previously. There is a constant feel of energy at Portfolio School and the teachers are always coming up with something new. While the school focuses on project based learning, they put great emphasis on making sure that students learn the same hard skills that more traditional schools teach. From K onward, kids learn life skills like presenting their projects confidently to an audience. Kids are learning for life, not for standardized tests, applying their creativity and passion while also staying on track to learn everything they should be learning. Portfolio School seems to have really cracked the code to making that happen. We are thoroughly impressed.

The Portfolio School is committed to encouraging a child's natural curiosity while empowering students to persuing their own interests-it's a place where students feel a sense of belonging. We transferred our child from a traditional private school last year to Portfolio which was undoubtedly, the best decision we had ever made! Our child loves going to School everyday -he's inspired by the school's curriculum and most importantly, happy. Our child is encouraged to use his imagination and challenged to solve intellectual, social, emotional, and practical problems. The school has a real sense of community and the teachers are truly incredible-we believe that project based education is best suited to prepare our child for a life long love of learning and feel blessed to be apart of this amazing school!

Our five year old son is thriving at Portfolio School and we're thankful we've found such a nurturing and inspiring environment for him to start his education. His natural desire to create projects, collaborate with others and be a leader are enabled here on a daily basis. The families are warm and there's a great sense of community across families, teachers, administrators and students. It's a special place and a joyful learning environment for children.

We are so thrilled with our decision to put our kids at Portfolio School. The school is flipping the traditional model on its head to unleash creativity and make learning fun. They do it in several key ways. 1 - There are no grade levels so that a 6 year old is often working beside 9 and 10 year olds. For literacy and math work, they are grouped by skill level, but otherwise, they form organic groups around their interests. This takes the arbitrary barriers between grades away and exposes younger kids to learning that is far above their grade level. 2 - It's a project-based learning school that integrates subjects like literacy, math, science, the humanities, the arts together instead of separating these subjects out. 3 - Kids are engaged in the development of their curriculum; their interests guide the projects they work on. This is critically important. When kids are empowered to choose what they learn about, they are emotionally invested in it. My kids often want to continue researching their project topics at home. 4 - There are no grades in the traditional sense. Children must present and publish there work at the end of the project, which means they have skin in the game. They have to produce, but it's not to 'please the teacher' or get a good grade. It's because they are intrinsically motivated to share what they've learned.My older son came from a public school where he was atrophying creatively and just generally bored and uninspired. He has changed so much in the few months we have been at the school. It's a revelation! And having his younger brother there hasn't resulted in conflict or competition as I feared. It's brought them even closer. I encourage any family who is looking for something radically different to give Portfolio School a look.

We are very grateful for Portfolio School. The team is focused on keeping the children actively engaged in learning. Our child loves going to school each day. She is learning the basics of elementary education in a way that is unprecedented. All schools teach reading, writing and math. Portfolio adds innovation, team and personal projects and research-proven techniques. She is gaining confidence and building wonderful relationships with students and administrators. We are very happy with our choice to join the Portfolio Team.
