What a wonderful school! My son has been in the ESE Special Needs program since Kindergarten and has recently graduated onto middle school. This is very bittersweet for me, as the memories of his experiences, caring teachers and therapists come to mind. From day one, my son has received the best education and care from all of his therapists, teachers and school nurses. My son would go to school with a smile on his face everyday because of this positive, uplifting environment that he was a part of. He was able to go on fun field trips and work on his occupational and communication skills in the classroom. This school has a great reputation for special needs education and is well-equipped for all ability levels. I will never forget the generosity, kindness and caring of Neptune Beach Elementary and the wonderful people who make it such an impactful and important school.

I have 2 kids that attend Neptune Beach Elementary. One child has an IEP, and we have had a great experience with all of his teachers. The school has been very willing to provide appropriate accommodations so that my child is successful. This school is extremely inclusive. We have never had any experiences with bullying. The other students and general atmosphere have always been extremely encouraging and kind. My other child is in the gifted program. My child goes to the Gifted and Talented Education program (GATE) one day a week. And, the specialized teachers in GATE are amazing. My child enjoys his special GATE day so much. My child has learned public speaking, to research topics, take notes, and to ask insightful questions. My child also receives differentiated work based upon his skill level. I know that we are lucky to have gifted teachers and the GATE program b/c it is not available at all public schools. There are 2 playgrounds and both are a lot of fun. The school provides free breakfast and lunch too. The teachers dress up as fun characters in the car line, and play fun music to welcome the students. The PTA works hard to support the school, and offer fun activities for the kids. I think the pickup and drop off process is extremely efficient and quick. A++ School!

Neptune Beach Elementery has been phenomenal and it’s regard to my daughters disability. She’s deaf in her left ear. Her teachers have gone above and beyond to bring her batteries for her hearing aid when we had none. We are so blessed to have such amazing staff and teachers working to help my daughter succeed!

Some of these teachers need to be replaced. A few of the teachers who have children also attending school at NBE are very cliquey and show preferential treatment to the children who are friends with their kids. They are too close socially to some of the parents for this to be a professional environment for them. They gossip to other parents about students and parents and it creates a hostile and socially uncomfortable atmosphere for the kids. Teachers should never gossip to other parents about students or even other parents. These teachers should be ashamed of themselves and the school needs to do something about it. These teachers need to be transferred out of the school and into a learning environment that forces them to be professional. They treat it like a popularity contest and it needs to be stopped.

Poor. Always had to contact principle about concerns. Many but not all of the Teachers/Admin/Para are unprofessional, rude, disrespectful to parents. They make it know they are a neighborhood school and they don't like outsiders. They are cultural insensitive. I have witnessed various racial under tones. The teachers/para think it is ok to be physical with the students I order to get them to cooperate.

Fantastic. It’s a great little community—very family-oriented. Class size has been small through two years (15-20 kids per class). The teachers are prepared and enthusiastic.

My children were enrolled the last 4 months of 2015-2016 school year. We are absolutely thrilled with both of our daughters academic, social, and emotional growth. The first thing my girls noticed was how all of the teachers, paraprofessionals, staff, even the crossing guard were smiling. The school puts out a wonderful warm vibe that makes everyone smile, which says a lot about their character! One of my daughters was finally given the psychological/ academic testing that the previous school put off! My oldest will be a safety patroller next year! They are both in classes that are welcoming and push them to not only meet nut exceed academic standards! All of the teachers and staff are very nice and willing to go the extra mile. They are fabulous with special needs and even house the CSS extended school year program. We are proud to say as small business owners that we will be sponsoring them next year. They have made such a positive impact in our children's lives that we hope to help support them as much as they have us!

My son started school this past year and we love NBE. He has learned so much from Mrs. Maury. He enjoys going to school everyday and has started reading. Age 4 and reading beyond a kindergarten level is impressive. Thanks for providing a great year NBE.

My daughter attended NBE from K-5th grade. I have not ran into anyone at that school that is less than pleasant. The atmosphere is calm and laid back. My daughter made A/B honor the entire time. At times when she was struggling, she received the help she needed. She became a patrol and loved working with everyone at the school. My younger daughter is now in 1st grade at the school and I am looking forward to spending another 5 years involved with Neptune Beach Elementary.

I am new to the area and new to the school. I have three children attending at this time and I will be transferring them out. im very disappointed in the lack of communication. I've emailed a certain teacher who fails to get back to me about issues. The staff was completely disorganized when I enrolled them. I was sent home with someone else's enrollment papers. All their personal info was on it including social security numbers. I have children who are not liking school because the other children are so disrespectful and out of control it scares them. I can walk into school and pick up my children and they fail to look at an ID to make sure the right person is picking them up. Complete disappointment. If you truly care about your childrens education take them else where.

If your child is TYPICAL or low functioning, NBE will likely meet those needs well. If your child falls somewhere in the middle with High Functioning Autism, ADHD, mild to moderate learning disabilities, or social skills deficits, they will fall into the cracks. You will probably fight NBE to get those needs acknowledged or met, all the while your child suffers trying to fit in to NBE parameters. My special needs child attended NBE from K through 5. They wait until the child falls far behind their peers, fails, or is bullied to begin to address the issues. Even then, the solutions offered are substandard and not proactive. No matter what, if your child is evaluated by NBE (or any DCPS) school for Developmental Disabilities or Learning Disabilities, insist upon an independent evaluation as well by someone who does not have money/funding at stake, as it is your right to request one. Your child's future may depend on it. My normal IQ child left NBE after 6 years reading on a 2nd grade level, and working well below grade level standards. Never did my child receive any language therapy despite my requests, but is now getting therapy in private school, and close to making B Honor Roll.

Neptune Beach Elem. has a staff of caring individuals ..... teachers and program sponsors, including scouts and patrols at the 5th grade level. I signed in as a parent but actually am a great grand mother and assist in afterschool pick up and as many fund raisers as I am able.

This school is such a disappointment. They failed to acknowledge issues my daughter had been diagnosed with and said that until she failed there was nothing they could do - even worse her 3rd grade teacher picked on her for said issues in front of her whole class!! The best decision I ever made was pulling her out of Neptune.

My daughter is starting kindergarten this year and she just loves it! The teachers here are great and make learning so fun for the kids! Even the bus drivers are awesome! I've met with most of the staff and so far there isn't anyone I don't like!

I went to neptune beach el. for 5 years and the school has great kind teachers that will give your kids a amazing experience and prepare them for each grade. It is a safe school that has many saftey patrols to whatchover the young students and a group of great staff at command. They have great teachers at each grade,in my opinion mrs.vicky kennedy is the best teacher of this schools staff and is good with all her students.
