I have a student in kinder and could not be happier with the school. His teacher is amazing and really encourages students to try hard. The school community is very inviting and hosts many, well-attended events. All of the staff support their students and support each other, and I feel very connected to what's happening as a parent. I am more than happy that my child attends Theuerkauf!

My child is currently in 1st grade. He joined Theuerkauf for Kindergarten. He absolutely loves going to school. Both in K and now 1st grade, his teachers have been fantastic. He gets the attention he needs and seems to be doing very well both academically and socially. There is a real sense of community at Theuerkauf. The principal, the PTA and other parents are all engaged genuinely work towards enabling the kids to be comfortable, engaged and learning in school. The after school programs are very convenient for working parents. Our child goes to RAS and likes it there too. All his class-mates are well mannered and there is a sense of camaraderie even at this early age which is very positive to see. When we were looking at the school district and school scores, we were a little apprehensive with Theuerkauf. But, having been there for almost 2 years now, it is clear that those scores really do not tell a complete or even accurate picture of how good the school and staff are. We are very happy with our school and our second child will be starting there in a year, which we are looking forward to.

I have 2 students currently enrolled at Theuerkauf Elementary. There is a large population of students that are socio-economically disadvantaged. The school is under new leadership and so many new programs are being initiated to help students that are at risk of falling through the gaps, get the support they need. It feels like a renaissance of sorts. The PTA is small but active and I feel that it has helped build a good sense of community among the families and especially the students. My kids have friends and playmates from all grade levels. There is a cultural that strives to create a safe, inclusive environment for learning and growing. Programs like Project Cornerstone and Expect Respect teach students about kindness, valuing one another and themselves. I think that there are many ways in which the school can improve but they are on a good course. If there was more parental involvement I think that Theuerkauf could be the best school in the MVWSD.

My children attend Theuerkauf and it's a wonderful school. The teachers and support staff care about all students and the teachers differentiate instruction to meet my child's needs. My daughter's kinder teacher provides daily book bags and small group instruction. I am impressed by how fast my daughter is growing academically and emotionally. My son's 3rd grade teacher is also amazing! She provides targeted instruction for my son and also makes learning fun!

Theuerkauf is a wonderful community, made up of teachers that care deeply for their students, kids that are creative and kind, parents that are supportive and invested, and a principal that leads with way with enthusiasm and character. It is a truly wonderful place for a child to learn and grow.

Overall, I am disappointed that the presentation of the curriculum is so half hearted and uncreative. The use of you tube in the classroom is dismaying, as well as the pile of worksheets instead of actual creative teacher engagement (kindergarten). I feel oversight of the large number of students during recess is poor, and I don't feel my son is being kept safe. When issues have been brought to the teacher's attention, she is often unaware of when or how the issues have happened. I have had to escalate to they principal, but the measures feel tardy and inconsistent. I will be pulling my son out of this school and into a better district. It's unbelievable, given the high cost of living of the area.

The principal is very accessible, listens to parents and is working very hard to improve the school.Teachers work very hard to meet the needs of students both advanced and requiring extra supports. My child has never felt unsafe at the school, she has a group of friends she spends time at recess with. There are quite a few afterschool enrichment opportunities, most of them free (chorus, drama, music). There are free summer camps and schools, too. Overall it is a nice small neighborhood school, which we are happy with.

I have two children at Theuerkauf, and our experience has been positive, three years in a row. My kids love their friends and their teachers, and when they walk through the halls, people greet them by name, and offer high fives or friendly words. Both my kids are achieving above their grade level, and I appreciate the care that is taken in the classroom to celebrate each child's own learning level. The library is fantastic, and we appreciate all the extra curricular activities offered (chess club, coding, etc.) Kindness and respect are celebrated, and the kids treat each other well. It's a great neighborhood school.

Theuerkauf Elementary School has been a great place for my son. The teachers are hard working and encouraging. The principal is alway accessible and the office staff is amazing. They are truly a neighborhood school and we have been nothing but pleased. There are over 20 languages spoken at TES, and we love this diverse culture for our son. He has friends from all sorts of backgrounds. It's been amazing to meet people from all over the world. I think test scores don't necessarily reflect the school as a whole. Yes, they are improving, but these scores don't always seen to be a true representation of all the good work going into teaching our students. To get a good look at the scores you need to break it down into sub groups and look over them yourself. Don't just accept: "It's not a good school! Low scores!" Make an appointment, visit the campus, talk with the principal, it's an awesome school.

This is a very nice school! My daughter is learning a lot, including the true joy of reading! She reads every night for 30 minutes and takes an Accelerated Reader quiz after finishing each book, which lets me know her reading level! She is happy with her teacher, the staff and her friends!

I loved my son's kindergarten teacher and how much she made learning fun for her students: making applesauce pancakes, finding the gingerbread man all over campus, Dr. Seuss month, putting on plays with guidance from middle school students, and so much more! Each week my son came home with projects that blew me away. I loved how she also challenged my son as well and took in some of my ideas for the class too, like starting a garden. The parents who are involved in PTA and this school are so dedicated to these kids as well: Read-A-Thon, Monster Mash Dance for Halloween, Winter Holiday concert, Earth Week (a fantastic assembly on cooling the earth), Just this past spring, one of our teachers was named Teacher of the Year. ESL students AND their parents come an hour before school starts to learn English in the computer lab; they are so dedicated to their kids. The principal is very inviting as well (unlike others I've heard about in the district); If those neighborhood parents who can afford private school chose to come to Theuerkauf instead, this school can have high gov't scores like Huff and Bubb. Theuerkauf is truly an awesome neighborhood school to send your children.

This school reflects our community which is something that we really value for our kids. They have made friends with kids from all sorts of different backgrounds which, to us, is also an important part of learning. The teachers that our daughters have had so far have been dedicated, creative and caring. The principal is also very involved and accessible. Over the past three years, the school has continued on its upward trajectory, improving not only its test scores for the majority of the kids but also adding a state of the art computer room among many other things.

I admit when my kids first started here I was very nervous and pictured all sorts of horrible things due to the test scores, but all it took was one visit & I knew that I had nothing to worry about. The teachers are excellent and pay attention not only to your child, but also to your concerns. The School, Teachers and PTA welcome parent participation. The Principal is always available if you need to speak with her. Chances are you will find her outside talking to the kids & not just sitting in her office. Yesterday I was speaking with a friend of mine & she said that last year she was having problems with bullying & when she asked to speak to the Principal @ her School in Sunnyvale, she was asked to fill out a request to see the principal. My friend had to fill out a request three times before the principal even bothered to call her back. I was shocked as every time I have needed to speak to our Principal she has been ready & willing to talk or meet with me. Don t let the scores keep you from seeing the bigger picture, meet with the teachers, talk to other parents & most importantly volunteer, participate & make the changes you want to see happen.
