I have two students at West Elementary this year. We moved from California last summer and the difference in education is amazing. The staff at the school are top notch and I am so glad we go here. With a kindergartener I am very glad he will have his full elementary time here compared to my other son’s first two years in California. Dr. Plummer is amazing and we are so glad to have such a wonderful principal. The school does so many wonderful projects, special days, and always celebrates the kids and their achievements! Parents are always welcome when Covid rules allow and make everyone feel included. I work in special Ed for the county and I love the program they have for those kids at West as well.

This school is ok , definitely not the best it's overcrowded and you can feel the fake by some of the front office lady's . You'll get your concerns blown off by the principal . But there are some great teachers and counselers that seem to care . I feel the 8 outa 10 is definitely misleading . The school is small and definitely needs upgrades the car pickup line and system is dangerous and ineffective. I mean they are trying thier best with what they are working with the location and age of the school . But this is not a top notch school I used to believe these ratings but now I think it's just pta or staff writing them.. it's a bummer we moved to this area based on the school grades so it's very disappointing.

Such an amazing school with the best staff! The time and effort that goes into the kids future is nothing less than incredible. They are always on top of things and really involve their kids and parents in activities. They truly care about the kids futures.

Our child has been at West from pre-k til now 5th grade. West has a wonderful Principal and great teachers. They work very hard to help our kids succeed not just academically but in all areas of growth and development.

This is my daughter‘s first year at West. And though it is so much larger with many more children than her previous school she has excelled so much more this year and all of the staff and students have been so great to her. They are awesome with communicating And even still through this pandemic they have tried to make life as normal as possible for the children and for that I am so grateful. Definitely recommend the school!!

This is the worst school my children have ever gone to. They care more about fund raisers than teaching the kids. Maybe if the kids didn’t have to go to do many fund raiser demonstrations, they would not come home with so much homework. If you are low- to middle class, keep looking else where. Your child will never be successful here. This school literally lowers kids self esteem for low-middle class families.

2020 wasn't the best year to start kindergarten but I have to say West is the BEST! I have had great responses from the staff and Dr. Plummer! He is amazing! He has gone out of his way to answer my questions. He responds so quickly and is always so friendly.

Teachers are responsive to parent questions and requests. Class apps are often used to communicate with parents. Administration is also responsive to questions and requests via phone/email. Weekly/monthly newsletters via email help parents stay informed. FB is used for some PTO updates as well, if you find social media more convenient, but I do not. Unless information is sent home with my children or emailed, I will not know about fundraisers or school events. The school has many safety policies that I appreciate and make me feel comfortable for my children's safety. I wish there were more sports or extracurricular offerings to enrich their academics. I wish there were more enrichment programs to supplement the core curriculum but we are grateful for STEM, PE, Art and Music. West has an involved and supportive PTO. There is very little if any homework assigned. Teachers suggest optional extra work to do at home.

With a 4th and 5th grader who have been at West starting in kindergarten, I have been so impressed with everyone. Personally, I feel like it starts at the top and I couldn't ask for a better more involved principal then Dr. Plummer. My kids have had amazing teachers that you know truly care about your child. I can't say enough about how much we love this school... it is true #WestISBest

This year with Covid has been tough! Lots of decisions to be made about our kids education but enrolling him at West was the absolute best decision we could have made! My son begs to go back to school on the weekends now and has learned so much just in the few weeks he’s been there. The staff is so personable, keeps us updated and involved every step of the way and they seem like they have a blast there. You can tell the teachers are really proud of the school too. They’ve got this whole Covid thing down auto a science as well- zero worries or scares having my son there. West is best!

I have a second grader and two kindergarteners and so far I'm pleased with this school. The building is old, but very well kept. Mrs. Pam is a great teacher and my boys love her and respect her. My second grader love Mrs. Hobbs also. As a parent I feel welcomed and respected when I go to the school.

As a new family to the Wilson County area, we have been pleased on all levels with West Elementary. Our son, and our family felt welcomed from the moment we stepped in the doors. He is definitely being challenged more academically- and is thriving! Highly recommend this school!!
