Rutland Elementary School is a predominantly Caucasian school you have maybe a handful of African American students. My issue is with Rutland unfairness in treatment of the African students. The bullying and aggravation that’s being ignored from the Caucasian students. I’ve spoken with administrators and the incidents are being ignored and swept away. The issue is when the African students are reporting incidents it’s not being addressed until days later, and they are being disciplined for their behavior and actions from being bullied and harassed by their Caucasian peers. I am deciding to remove my student due to the lack of unfairness. I don’t feel that it’s appropriate that my student is having to serve in school detention and out of school suspension for being bullied. I feel that a case is being put in place against my student to make like their is a behavioral issue. When he is being simply being bullied, provoked, hit, pushed, pushed down. My family moved here from a different county. The school district that was attended my child didn’t have any of these types of issues. My student attended this school from head start until third grade. I made a mistake when I changed districts. My child has been having this issue since he started Rutland elementary. My child has been marked absent due him being signed up for bus transportation from the bus transportation system not providing proper transportation to the students. My student’s come home daily with complaints about how he/she is being treated from staff also students. The bullying here in Wilson County schools are going unnoticed and swept under the carpet. I feel like carrying these allegations to the public eyes by my children and myself as an adult.

My child is new to this school but having come from another good school to this one I can say that the family engagement is night and day better at this school. Our family has only been here for a month and already attended two after school events where as in a whole year at her prior school we would have attended the same number. Also, my child's grades are up since starting here. I like that Rutland has an auto email that is sent out each week to inform parents if a score falls under a certain percentage in order for it to be addressed and likewise, lets the parent know when a great score has been entered to celebrate! It's wonderful to have these tools in order to be proactive and supportive. Go Rockets!

This school's healthcare facility is without doubt the worst I've ever dealt with, in fact because my daughter has been treated so poorly over her illnesses and told to deal with it or that shes fine and go back to class even though her illnesses are chronic migraines which is extremely painful for children, it causes severe sickness in the stomach and dizziness plus all the chronic sharp stabbing pains, but because all of that my daughter is now undergoing a therapist and is now on medication for anxiety and fear due to the fact that no matter how much pain she was in they would pretty much tell her it was in her head and go back to class, They even told me that!!! She was suffering in pain everyday and all they did was tell me oh she seems fine. well come to find out shes not fine and now she suffers from anxiety on top of everything else. Thank u RUTLAND prep

Why wasn’t 911 mentioned in school today as is a part of our history. Why was there no moment of silence for those that passed. This is a part of our history! I am appalled that children don’t know about 911. D Calistri

Rutland Elementary School's teachers and principal, go above and beyond to make sure students have the best possible learning experience - plus, they make sure it's fun! Both schools are bright and welcoming. We are very happy with the education and guidance they are receiving there!

It is an ever-changing school for the better! Times are constantly changing around us in today's society - from academic standards to city growth to safety! They transition only for what is best for the students and do it in a way that will be mindful and comfortable for them. (not only always so much for the parents - but we can take care of ourselves). They have a way to be compassionate and challenging at the same time and to me they are teaching confidence to these kids in a world that is hard to find! Very family friendly which makes for great parent involvement/volunteers, means less extra work for teachers and teachers get to do more with their students!!! I love it!!! And I have loved it for 5 years!! and I have 5 more to go!! I'll let you know if I change my mind but I doubt it!

We came from a low-performing school in another county in Tennessee. This school is one of the top reasons we moved to Mount Juliet, and we were blown away from day one. The parent/teacher contact is fantastic, parent involvement is obviously high, and best of all... My child is thriving and happy to be there every day.

We were new to the area and my son who was not so fond of school LOVED Rutland he's never done so well in school. The teachers go above and beyond. I think it's a great school no complaints from me.

As a parent and teacher at Rutland, I would say, hands down, this school is top notch! I have taught in other schools and districts and this school far exceeds any i have been a part of! The staff at Rutland doesn't just come to school to work. Rutland is a part of us! We are a family and share a common goal and that is to ensure success for every child. I can not think of a better place for my own child to grow and learn! Some people are never happy and judge harshly without truly knowing the truth. You cannot find a more competent, hard working, and dedicated group of people! Each child is treated as an individual and loved no matter what their background, religion, race, economics, or academic ability. The staff at Rutland has a passion for children and learning! We are constantly seeking better ways to serve the Mt. Juliet community. There is NO CHILD LEFT BEHIND at Rutland Elementary! Submitted by a teacher

Rutland Elementary Is a very Right wing Religious facility. We are asked on more than one occasion if we were Christians and we treated badly when we stated we are Buddhist. We are not from the south and was alarmed that all the english teachers have very thick southern accents and do not speak correct english or even comprehend how the rest of the world works. It is a very closed minded and religious and republican based school. If you are a free thinker or have have above average intelligence do not let your child go here...they do not set a good example for the children. If you want a child with a Low I.Q and taught to have no thought of his own and have religion forced down their throat then pick this school. I thought there was such a thing as separation between Church and State...Apparently Tennessee is too busy misinterpreting the Bible to have heard about that Law.
