Our family has been at MCS for 9 yrs now and it has seriously declined in that timeframe. It was rated the top school in the area in 2000 and now is ranked one of the lowest. Due to unqualified, inexperienced and unskilled administration test scores are continuing to decrease, staffing turnover continues to increase and student enrollment is declining to a financially dangerous level. Currently the administration team lacks the necessary credentials as well as the teaching staff. There is poor communication currently with families and a lack of involvement in community support. It is a shame to see the decline of this once great school in the past few years and I would not recommend enrolling your student while the current administration is still in place.

From what I can tell, MSC is very different from what it was in the past. It seems to be transforming in many ways that are not positive. Do not send your child here if you are looking for a progressive and/or challenging curriculum. Also, consider other schools if you want you child to learn personal accountability. Advanced learners languish here while those with behavioral issues are enabled. Place-based learning model seems to be limited to taking walks through the neighborhood on occasion.

My son is in kindergarten at MCS and we are very happy with the school. We particularly love their Place-Based Learning model.

Mosier schools teachers do a great job of identifying the strengths of each child and adjusting what is taught to meet the needs of each student.

I'm a proud parent of three children that go to this school. The teachers are genuinely concerned when my children have struggling moments. They all want to do their best in this school, that's what matters to me. I have never had a time where a teacher or any other staff member has turned me away when I just "pop" in for a question. They have excellent after school programs that also help my children succeed in school, which, if your child looks forward to homework club, I think you have a great school. It's a charter school, so us as parents and community work together to keep the funds coming, this money would help us in this endeavor tremendously.

We love MCS!! We have had our kids attend Mosier schools for the last 5 years. We feel that this is the BEST choice we have made in our kids education. The teachers are patient and kind. My children are getting an amazing education and are ahead of other kids in their grades at area schools. There are many parent volunteers and on a daily basis I see many helping out the school! My only complaint is that I wish Mosier had a high school!

I've been a parent of a family in Mosier Community School for many years. Our kids have enjoyed the school immensely over these years having had numerous exemplary teachers, enjoyed a wide-range of extracurricular activities, and have participated in the best school plays in the history of theater. Unfortunately, teachers at MCS do not stay for an extended period of their career because they have personally left. I have a feeling that this is due to the poor interpersonal communication skills of the executive director and new principal, which I've observed through their communications with families. It's sad to see good teachers go, and it really breaks the hearts of my children to see good people leave. Hopefully, authentic positive change is in the future.

This is the best school in both Hood River and Wasco County. My children are doing very well in this environment. You should consider yourself fortunate to get your children in this program.

Classroom size is almost perfect. First and second grade classes have 18 students, third and fourth have 22 (ideally it wouldn't go over 20) and fifth and sixth grade classes 20. Teacher's have more time to focus on each child, therefore ensuring that no one falls thru the cracks on either side of the spectrum, kid's who need more assistance as well as students who need more of a challenge get the attention they need. Most teachers at Mosier really try and teach to the students instead of to the class. Those teachers make our school extra special.

Mosier Community School provides a wonderful experience for my children, and a terrific education that they wouldn't receive at any other school. The blended classrooms work well and it's terrific that the older kids in the school are mentors to the younger kids at school. They all get along so well, and it teaches them terrific social skills.

I love the plays! (my daughter made me write that) But honestly, the twice a year plays are some of the best free Made In Mosier Entertainment! Mrs Harmon writes the script and encorporates fun songs...not your typical Winter and Spring performances.

Mosier is the best school because the parents care about their kids and about making the most of rural life in a modern way.
