SME has always been a great school for my children. The teachers really care about their students and their success. The staff is always easy to speak to and work with in my experience. The principals have always been fair and very understanding.

We LOVE SME! All the teachers are amazing. They work so hard to meet each student where they are at and encourage and motivate them to be more. Students thrive at SME. It is a family environment, once you’ve been to SME you are family forever. The leadership is amazing. Under Mrs. Duran’s leadership the school has been an A rated school 2 years in a row by the NMPED!

SME is a fantastic school and community, we could not be happier with the experience our children have had there. It is clear the teachers and staff make the students their first priority.

The principal is very good with each and every student. The teachers are very qualified and the children get a wonderful education. Their test scores have been above average. This is our second generation of students in South Mountain Elementary.

SME is the best elementary school in the east mountains! My kids have been attending this school for the past 6 years, and we have always had a such a positive experience here. The principle is so caring, and genuine. His open door policy appreciated, while his dedication to the children and the school goes above and beyond. His involvement with the PTO and his leadership skills are evident throughout the school. The majority of the teachers are determined to make the school a place where kids love to come to learn, and form a solid team of educations amongst themselves. SME is a beautiful community where parental evolvement is highly encouraged and appreciated. Out of school activities sponsored by the PTO are always fun, and help complete the circle of community that SME strives for. I highly recommend this school. I feel blessed that we live near such a great school, where I know where our kids come first.

We've had our kids at this elementary for 3 years now and they have all done excellent academically. The teacher to student ratio is good. We used to live in the city Las Vegas, NM and decided to move to a small town community for a safer environment for our kids. We're glad we did. South Mountain is a great school. I would rate it a 5 star if they had a better play ground for the kids and a better food program.
