This… is… MY FAVORITE SCHOOL!!! I highly recommend it and all of the teachers are amazing. It has a good, safe environment and they keep the school clean. And it is also built on a hill, so you get an amazing view of the transverse mountains (they look better every winter with snow on them). They also give perk cards at the end of every trimester. If you get good grades, they give bronze, silver, and gold cards depending on your GPA. The perk cards include front of the line pass, change seat in class, excuse a tardy, and double run day pass (amount of perks depend on which card you get). Overall, this is a great school and I highly recommend it.

This school is adequate in some areas. The best I can say is that it offers Spanish, Band/Strings, Art, ASB, Theatre, and Multimedia. But in general the curriculum isn’t well taught, many of the teachers and staff don’t care, they’ve managed to remove any honors classes or room for improvement, and the math classes are beyond terrible. This school has a math informational night that convinces parents that (1) their kids aren’t smart enough for honors class. (2) They insist that math isn’t necessary and causes unwarranted stress which then leads to children committing su*c*de. (3) The honors classes do THE EXACT SAME WORK as the non-honors classes. This school is not fantastic in any way and I would highly recommend that if you have the option to go/send your child somewhere else you take it. This is school is not for the brilliant, the hard-workers, the people who care and want to advance, or quite blatantly anyone else that wants more than a half decent education. I was set behind by this school and I’m warning you to let yourself/your child suffer the same fate.

It always surprises, when this website grades any of the Moorpark schools less than 9/10. So let me clarify it for families who consider moving to Moorpark and sending their kids to MUSD.First of all, Moorpark has its own school district and as residents we support many of its technology, music, sports and science programs that you will not find in other districts. Mesa Verde for example provides 2 electives for each student in 8th grade, as well as a variety of sport choices. All schools have a fantastic IEP programs with SELPA counseling which will be the greatest support you can find for students with special needs. The schools are clean and well maintained, and if you experienced any of the LAUSD schools, your kids will “feel” the difference once you dropped them off at school.Mesa Verde teachers and administration support their students in so many ways. As a parent, you will be heard and your child will get the support they need. As far as grades, many kids do really well, and that is surprising since the level taught in the school is above the normal curriculum. The teachers teach many abstract concepts, making kids work on their thought process, while translating it into well constructed Essays. The teachers are kind and want their students to succeed.I guess what I am trying to communicate is that Mesa Verde Middle School provides quality education that exceeds any private education you might consider for your kids. Therefore, I don’t believe that this website is doing it justice. I would rate it 10/10 because it is a beautiful well maintained facility with jaw dropping Mountain View’s, high level curriculum and consistent support for students who need it.

My daughter started 6th grade this year at MVMS. She loves all her teachers and seems to be learning a lot so far this year. She especially loves completing her homework online. The front office staff and the teachers have been very nice and helpful.

The school is changing quickly from a good school, to a less desirable school. All honors classes have been eliminated, the staff are not responsive, and funding problems cause under investments. The Superintendent is the root of the problems with a philosophy of teaching to the bottom.

My daughter's first year at MVMS is going good. She is in honors classes. ACE program is great! Teachers are caring and they encourage the kids to join clubs. They have homework help after school. Principal Mr. Rouch is a great leader.
