Not a good school social wise!! WHATSOEVER. This school has generally good academics, granted, and there sports are competitive and do well. Most of the teachers are kind and helpful, but the select few that aren’t, are bad. There are teachers who will bad mouth, and will selectively bully. In both my years i had teachers who did such. Insulted me, and others, and said fairly disturbing and almost threatening things about students. The**** “popular” kids are all sports kids who peak middle school/highschool. They will go around and purposely find people to annoy and brutally bully, usually by making fun of them and posting things on social media.*** There are genuine good kids here though, please don’t rule that out!****Buses are usually hellholes like all buses, and are overcrowded, generally 3 to a seat depending on route. Classes generally have 25+, some 35-40.There are a fair amount of clubs! Track and field is open, but those who aren’t good enough for meets won’t attend. The school tests high. I wouldn’t recommend this school unless your kid is a sporty kid. Definitely a lot of bias within the school, especially with the school board president and her favorite teachers and whatnot, and a popular sporty kid who bullied me, but since his mom was a assistant superintendent for student services, he was looked over, and never noticed bullying.

I was a former student here, and I would like to say that the teachers here are very noteworthy. They all feel like their own people with very fleshed-out personalities and that greatly contributed to creating an engaging in-class experience. Each class felt like a different territory, a new world, and I had fun with all of them, from the goofballs and the comedians to the warm and nerdy...However, I can't say anything else is super great. The school is very overcrowded, bullying runs rampant and staff does nothing to address it. I was a scrawny kid who got pushed around by jocks (literally- going to class is a fight for your life) and openly insulted. Hate circles the hallways like the wind. Fights break out weekly, and the populars (mainly boys) who think they own the place make sure that everyone KNOWS that they own the place. I felt constantly unsafe in the building. The school tries its best to offer mental/emotional support, but, in my experience, they actually just make things worse. "Confidential" information gets relayed to several people.Great teachers, awful students and no attempts to correct them.

I regret to say that my experience with this school has been deeply troubling. The administration appears to be more focused on covering up staff misconduct than addressing it head-on, which is a significant concern for any parent. This lack of transparency and accountability is not only disappointing but also alarming.Furthermore, the school lacks diversity, which is a critical component of any educational environment. This absence of a diverse community is not just a matter of statistics; it translates into a culture that I fear is not safe or welcoming for people of color. Based on my observations and experiences, I am disheartened to say that I don’t foresee this changing anytime soon, at least not in my lifetime. It’s unfortunate because education should be about inclusivity and learning in a safe, nurturing environment. This school, however, falls short of providing that, particularly for students from diverse backgrounds. I hope to see significant changes in the future, but for now, I am left with a sense of disappointment and concern.

Absolutely terrible experience. Experienced extreme bullying and they were no help staff is horrible.

Fantastic school which pulls from many different surrounding communities. The administration celebrates diversity and inclusion. The special Education teachers are knowledgeable and go to great lengths to make sure students are making progress. The teachers care about the students growth and properly preparing these students for high school. Would definitely recommend for those who are looking for a quality education for their children.

Horrible just horrible. Bullying, stress, and above all the amount of work we get is frustrating.

Terrible. Absolutely terrible. My child has disabilities and this school is clearly not a safe place for them. The teachers are impatient and rude, the iep has been all but ignored every single year in this district as no teacher yet has been even remotely prepared to deal with it.

My experience at this school was horrible. I learned that the admin takes problems way too far and over exaggerate them a lot. For example, I carved something into a urinal divider and they gave me an out of school suspension. I should have got a Saturday detention or other, Not an out of school suspension. While I was talking with one of the principals they tried to get me out as fast as they could and move on. While I was talking he was opening mail and reading it not paying attention to me and nodding his head once in a while. The admin here is just terrible. The teachers at this school are also bad. I was struggling in math and asked about R.T.I. and they said no as fast as they could and just didn't want to listen. I have never been to a worse school. This is something That should not be happening in schools. I though they care about the students learning, apparently not at all.

I've had multiples children attend this school and it only gets worse as the years go by. Bullying is at an all time high and nothing is being done to fix the problem and no discipline happens when bullying happens.

My son has been struggling through this school with an IEP for two years. There is a huge emphasis on timeliness of work over quality of work. When a student has an IEP, it is quality that should be striven for. Plus, those in charge of writing the IEP are more focused on explaining your child to you, than they are of listening to what your child needs. So glad this mightmare is coming to an end.

The school is what you make it. My children went on to do great things bases on the foundation built from this school. I have nothing but good things to say.

To the previous comment. The corner of Ridge and McEvilly. Same school. Don't be so na ve and ignorant. ISAT's don't mean a thing. Just because you have a high test score doesn't mean you are educated.

I have went to this school for the past few two years and I am apart of the 2014 graduating class. I have had so amazing times at this school. Many awesome teachers which get me through the day. Though some of the teachers are not the most affective I have leared alot in this school and overall district and my grades, ISATs, and test scores definitley prove it. After reading some of the other comments I believe they must be talking about a differnt school.

Cannot wait to get out of this district. Academics are not effective. Leadership too mean. Lack of parent/upper staff communication. didn't even call me when my son was assaulted! Deplorable!
