We have a kindergartener at Annunciation and have been so impressed with the school's communication, caring environment, and commitment to safety and health during a pandemic. Our child's teacher has great communication methods and really knows our child and his needs and learning style. We love the focus of the IB character traits. We are so happy at Annunciation and would recommend it!

We transferred to Annunciation because they offered in-person learning during the pandemic. We have been extremely impressed by the academic rigor and sense of community. They challenge our children with diverse perspectives and a global focus on learning. The new leadership (school and parish) have created an inviting and inclusive environment. We're so impressed by the dedication of the teachers and staff to educating our children in an extremely difficult time!

We transferred our children to this school in 2020 for middle school. We have been very impressed with communication for all levels. Teachers are fantastic and easy for my children to communicate with they have questions. My children both have told us they feel that the small class sizes (compared to their previous school) make it easier to participate and learn. We are very happy with our decision to transfer into this school. Both kids feel they blended into the school easily, despite that most kids have been going to school since Kinder. One child's academic performance has improved from her prior school. The other child really enjoys the STEM activities. Class size was our main draw and we've been very pleased with this school.*Note, in reference to other reviews on this page, a new principal and priest started in 2020. I know more than one family with same-sex parents that has been welcomed and is very happy at this school.

Amazing! The education is one that will give your child an advantage in high school and beyond. It was the best decision I’ve made for them. There are always bumps in the road, but on the whole, Annunciation was worth the investment!

Our experience has been gravely disappointing. I would not recommend enrolling in Annunciation at this time. There is a tremendous amount of turmoil btw parents and administration and families are leaving, teachers are leaving and the frustration has truckled down to the students.

Our student is happy here and has had great teachers. We look forward to their future!

Our experience here is very different than what we were told as prospective parents. Disappointing.

The school is no longer worth the cost of tuition. With so many great public options, its pricing itself out of the market. Under the current leadership it is driving Southwest Minneapolis families away.

I attended Annunciation school from kindergarten - 8th grade and it was a welcoming and inclusive environment -- as inclusive as a south Minneapolis private school can be. This, however, is no longer the case. With a change of priests, the school is no longer the same institution I attended. I can no longer recommend Annunciation for the following reasons: there has been a shift in values form inclusion and empathy to conservative Catholic dogma that, I believe, is detrimental to the development of young children; these conservative beliefs teach intolerance towards the LGBT+ community and stunt the empathy that many teachers, who have since left or been asked to leave, have tried to instill in students; and finally, the youth program that gave so much to me and my classmates has been completely undermined by the hiring of a new Youth Director who shared the same conservative world view as Fr. Park. If this attitude of hate towards other groups and homophobia shown through the Annunciation's recent actions are not blatant, I assure you that to the students, and graduates, it is obvious. If you want your children to be nurtured in a hate-free environment and grow up in the modern world, do not send them here. I apologize to all those who saw their legacy as teachers and leaders at Annunciation unraveled. You were important to me. I'm sorry Annunciation School has lost its way.

There are some great teachers, but some of the best teachers have left. Father Parks and the Principal have not made it a welcoming and affirming school. They are driving neighborhood families out of the church and out of the school. Enrollment is down for a reason.

The school doesn't understand all learners and certainly doesn't know how to handle kids with ADHD. These are kids needing support, not ridicule and alienation. We left the school and in retrospect see how bad it really was for our kids. This is a very conservatively lead school. There are less conservative families attending but they aren't on the school council or church board. The parents serving in those rolls are strongly conservative and guide the conservative nature of the social teachings, including a conservative weekly church service during the school day and catholic sacrament services throughout the year. As a non-catholic our children were told they wouldn't be able to participate in parts of the church services. Although unintentional, they were made to feel 'less-than' because they weren't catholic. There are some wonderful staff and incredibly loving teachers but the leadership... They say the right thing but do the opposite. Lots of promises and not a lot of follow thru. If you are a conservative catholic family with kids who have no learning challenges, this might be a good fit for you - otherwise consider other options. The families we got to know were wonderful which made it difficult to pull our children. We didn't feel comfortable having our kids taught that our family's beliefs were considered wrong, immoral and sinful in the eye of the catholic church.

This is a truly magical place and I can not tell you how pleased we are send our children to this school. With the number of high quality schools in Minneapolis we did a very complete search and fell in love with what this school stands for and what it delivers in young adults ready for excellence in high school college and beyond. So what makes it special. 1. There is a place for every child here to be everything they can be. This starts with of course excellent teachers administration and staff who actually know each child and their uniqueness. It is no secret that Annunciation is a proven developer of leaders in academics and community. This is achieved through each childs opportunity to participate in the annunciation and broader community as a life long IB learner.2. Did I say Annunciation builds leaders? I am always so impressed by the citizenship of the students, the student buddy process that helps students care for one another and for the dynamic and acclaimed Creative Arts Program that develops speaking ability, interpersonal relationships and most importantly confidence in our youth.3. The Community. No matter where you come from you can find a home here in our community. This is the most welcoming group of people my wife and I have ever met and the community delivers for one another time and again. This place is magic. Proof? Just check out the CBS evening news clip from last year on our beloved Mary Strickland and the magic she shows each of these children they posses.

We have had a great 10 years at Annunciation. The teachers are wonderful and do an awesome job caring for their students and preparing them for high school and life beyond. Since 2003 we have also had relatives at Annunciation and have had as many as 9 cousins there at a time. The ones that have graduated were very well prepared academically and each commits time to serve in the greater community. The school continues to look for ways to better educate children and has been working through the process to become an International Baccalaureate (IB) school.

Annunciation has a wonderfully supportive, involved community of educators, parents, and support staff. The children are challenged academically in an environment that fosters curiosity, personal growth, and involvement. Most importantly, our son enjoys going to school!

The middle school is amazing and my children are getting a top notch education through Annunciation's International Baccalaureate program. There is no other private school in the area like it and we couldn't be more pleased with the welcoming community and amazing teachers and staff. Would recommend to anyone & everyone.

Annunciation Catholic School has been a wonderful school for our daughter. We could not have asked for a better school academically, spiritually and financially. The teachers and staff at Annunciation are hands down the best around. They truly care about each and every student and want them to succeed. The overall community is vibrant and welcoming. We have loved our years at Annunciation and we can't say enough about this amazing school.

Our family LOVES Annunciation! From the teachers to the staff to the broader community our kids and family are cared for, nurtured and supported. The academics are great and there are all kinds of leadership opportunities for the kids. We can't say enough about how much we have loved our experience at Annunciation.

We knew when we started our daughter at Annunciation that it was a good choice for her but it has really been a great choice for our family. The community, teachers, activities, etc. are so wonderful. We are very happy with our choice and continue to be pleased with the education, especially the small class sizes, and the well rounded person that our daughter (and soon our son too) is becoming.

We have a great experience at this school and love being part of the Annunciation community. Our 2 high schoolers were well prepared for the challenges of high school and advanced academic classes, like AP and IB. I would highly recommend this school.

Our four children have attend (or still attend) Annunciation. We have an 8th grader, a high school sophomore, and two in college (they both attend a top 20 university). Each of our children were challenged academically at Annunciation regardless of their "level". The teachers are outstanding. Our high schoolers were well prepared for high school and they tested into all honors courses offered freshman year. Each year, Annunciation graduates are among the top 10 graduates of many area high schools. Not only are the teachers great instructors, but they truly care about the students as persons. In addition to providing excellent academics, Annunciation also prepares students to be leaders at high school and in their communities, and our graduates are articulate and can confidently speak in front of large groups thanks in large part to our Creative Arts program. The high schools our graduates attend (Catholic, private and public) consistently remark that Annunciation students "participate" at higher percentages than kids from other schools, both in the classroom and in extracurricular activities. They are not afraid to speak up in class. Each year, Annunciation graduates are leaders in student government (President, Vice President), Captains of sport teams, debate teams and robotics teams, leads in plays and musicals, and recipients of service awards. Annunciation has been a true gift to our children and our family.
