My son graduated from Chaminade in 2024. He was in the grade hit hardest by covid-19. The school set an example in steadfast determination that will forever be remembered by the class of 2024 as the supreme example of the school motto, Fortes in Unitate. My son's bittersweet statement on the way home from graduation: "I don't know if I'll ever have something like that in my life again"If you're thinking about this school as a possibility for your son, but you're not sure if it's right for whatever reasons... And maybe you're looking for a sign or for some inspiration... This is your sign.

My son has flourished at Chaminade - they have provide him the tools to succeed academically and in life. Even the sports programs are opportunities to teach these young men more than the sport itself. He is happier at Chaminade than he ever was at public school .

Excellent education. Opportunities for everyone academically and socially. My two sons are alumni as is my grandson most recently.

If you have a kid who stands out, don't send them to Chaminade. They don't encourage individuality AT ALL. It is seen as a negative. There is no interest in helping children excel, but use the children to further their main objective. Just another brick in the wall. Donations and furthering their reputation and bragging are ALL they care about. They want children who can fall in line and they can manipulate easily into adhering to their Tony Robbins philosophies. Faith is used as a tool, not as a paradigm. Also, they are NOT affiliated with the catholic diocese at all. Make not mistake it is a private school. They own a good majority of the surrounding buildings and several properties in the best areas of New York and will not allow anyone to come between them and their money. Because most of the staff are alum themselves, children of alum are often favored and even those near expulsion will have their demerits removed easily. While those children who struggle will get left by the wayside. Sad given the fact that a great majority of the children come from hardworking families striving to give their kids the best. Save your money for college. Most of the kids graduating from Chaminade get accepted to the same colleges as those in Long Island public school districts.

My son graduated from this school a few years ago. I've never met such prejudiced and hate-filled people in my life, not just the teachers but most of the students that go there. The staff drills into your head that if you don't conform to what they believe to be "righteous" then you will go straight to hell, which is pretty interesting considering that one of their previous principals had charges brought up against him for being a pedophile. My son was constantly bullied for being different. My son had friends there that got their heads so screwed up that they now have emotional problems and drug addictions. I thought we were doing a good thing by sending him there but it was a big mistake.

Values based education. Fostering respect for authority. Rigorous academic structure. Never skipped a beat when COVID-19 hit, leaving the pubic schools in their dust. Great school, worth every single penny! My son went in a boy and is leaving a man.

The cream of the crop go here. Character building caring Catholic families. My son went in a young and came out a man that we are extremely proud of. Best four years of our life as parents! Amazing support from sports staff and teachers. Can't say enough about it. Wish we could do it all over again. If people put negative comments it is because their son did not make it in!

Awful. Absolutely awful. Community is horrible. Not diverse at all. 90% of kids are white from rich families. Bullying is a big problem. Half the time my son goes into the bathroom there is someone being bullied. Achademics are deteriorating. Very old fashioned teaching and don’t offer any honor classes. Sports is also weakening. Don’t send your son here.

A family recently asked for my opinion of CHS so I am posting my review as well. I was challenged for the most part throughout my four years and made some great friends along the way. I am now studying at an out of state elite college and feel prepared. However, many of my college friends attended public schools including Oceanside HS, Massapequa HS and Farmingdale HS and their academic experience was just as rigorous as mine, no question. I can confidently say they are just as prepared as me to succeed. It's up to the student to excel or make things happen. If I had the choice again, I would have 100% attended my town "Public" HS and avoided the unnecessary longer commute and extra cost.

Excellent character building institution. Promotes good study habits for college. A deal for the cost.

Chaminade High school was one of the most influential parts of my life and continues to be to this very day. The dedication of the Marianist community and faculty is second to none. They are a faith based community that is focused on spiritual, academic, and physical development. Chaminade gave me the confidence/integrity I needed during my formative years that has guided me throughout college and life. The school has made vast improvements in academic (ex: Bloomberg Terminal center, New S.T.E.M. building being constructed, offering of Mandarin Chinese) and Athletics (all facilities updated to state of the art in past 2 years). If you are looking to send your son to a school that demands integrity, fosters a team first mindset, and prepares them for the "real" real world--then Chaminade is for you. My mother sums it up best: My son entered Chaminade a boy and came out a man.

Chaminade gave me the best preparation for college but more importantly for the challenges of life.

My son is starting this semester. I have been to the school a few times and I have to say that's how all schools should be. Life isn't easy and this is what makes people stronger. Nothing wrong with reading and learning. Who ever has an issue with this should not be in any school. All of you should be pushing your kids to the next level. In today's society there is lots of stupidity going on. What's wrong with our kids being good people and letting a school mold them like that???? I'm happy and proud my son made it in Thai school..

Excellent school. The four years I attended CHS helped prepare me for, not only, college but life in general.

Miserable here, dont send your kid if you want them to enjoy their last 4 years living with you.

Chaminade only takes the cream of the crop. It's not for slackers, very competitive!!! It's like Ivy League for High School, teaching strong mural character. The mom that bashed it either was not well educated about the school or her child could not make it in and she was bitter. My son got scholarships to two other Catholic H. S. and we still chose CHS.

I am a graduate of CHS and in my humble, yet very accurate opinion, CHS is the best of the best! Admittedly, it is not for everyone. If you are opposed to a strict Catholic education, then this place is not for you. But I caution all of the readers to consider the following. The proof is in the pudding. While not every CHS graduate goes on to be wealthy or influential, the alumni is undeniably super impressive. CHS boasts graduates at every level of government, military, business, etc... The amount of graduates that become lawyers, doctors and businessmen is staggering. So for all you naysayers, here's the challenge: show me any other school, Catholic or public, (aside from Sacred Heart and Our Lady of Mercy, both CHS sister schools), that has the impressive credentials of CHS grads. Show me one. St. Anthony's may come somewhat close but CHS still has a more impressive faculty and alumni. So in closing, you may not like CHS. You may find it overly strict and "close minded." I suspect that those that find it "close minded" probably feel that way about the RCC anyway so not a big shocker there. But don't call it substandard just b/c your kid couldn't make it. Period!

BEWARE! If you are looking for a substandard catholic education based loosely on morals Chaminade may be the school for you and your child. As a parent, I found this school to be inferior to catholic schools my older children attended outside NY. They were not only chauvinistic, but also narrow-minded at Chaminade. I was very disappointed since his junior high said it had such a great reputation. Keep looking, there are better educational avenues than dealing with the insecure bullies you will find here.
