This school is 10/10. My daughter transferred here mid year due to some issues at her first middle school. I am not a Karen by any means, but I advocated for her due to some unfortunate experiences at her previous school. I was so thankful that she was transferred to Whitman!!! The school, first and foremost was CLEAN, which was a huge complaint of mine at her previous school as far as sanitation and cleanliness. The principal on her first day was AMAZINGLY welcoming to my daughter and our family. The communication at this school is wonderful, the curriculum and teaching methods were exactly the what she needed and deserved. The school is SAFE, and helped calm my nerves as her previous school definitely had BEYOND safety opportunities. I am so happy we were SO LUCKY to find this school. For parents whose children attended AAL, this school was VERY similar if you’re looking for a middle school experience for your child that has the small community and welcoming vibe of AAL. The entire faculty is kind and welcoming,And I cannot express how lucky our family was to be welcomed into Whitman!! 10/10! Highly recommend!

I go to this school, and id say its alright. I say alright because of the past two years ive had a really stressful time. the teaching bits fine, and ive had mostly great teachers, though theres been a few i had issues with. if you know, you know. the kids.. oh boy where do i even start. i personally dont like them, and have found a small group of friends for myself, which is nice. just be careful when sending your kids here.

10000% Positive! I intended to have my son at Whitman for a year whil looking into schools within Whitnall district; but concluded my expectations were being met beyond my standards at Whitman ( : no need to look elsewhere!

Horrible, my child shattered her elbow on the gym teachers watch. The secretary called us saying our dauggter feel and is crying she wants to talk to you. He arm was swollen. Very obvious that it was broken . To the point that she had to have pins put in her arms. My son had his hands covered in fiberglass while the principal was on the play ground. He said he has splinters in his hand they looked at them and said your fine. When I picked him up he was crying about his hands hurting.

The staff is extremely dedicated. The principal is devoted to making the school great! Poor behavior is not tolerated at the school! I have seen firsthand the children interact with each other and staff at the school and they have all been extremely respectful of each other. Standardized test scores are above State average and climbing! The school is also a DPI School of recognition. It is one of only 15 MPS schools that have this recognition in 2016. The school seems to have a strong sense of community. They have a wonderful music program that gets children exposed to music earlier than some other elementary schools. I can't say enough great things!

Whitman is a diamond in the rough, they are doing tremendous work with few resources. My daughter loves it there!!!

There was a time I would have given this school 5+ stars but last year they failed me and my son. He gets bullied and then gets punished because of that. I have tried to switch schools but unfortunatly I don't see it happening this year. I would research other schools before you choose whitman.
