It is a shame a school can be scored less because of one review. I am a teacher in a nearby city and Milan school system is filled with truly caring people. Sometimes you have to communicate what you need.

All of the teachers and staff that I have had contact with take them time to answer questions and help when needed. I also feel like everyone knows who my son is and has his best interest.

My daughter is a 7th grader at Milan Middle. I had so much anxiety about the transition from elementary to middle school but she is so happy and well adjusted. I felt that she was very well prepared for the transition to 6th grade. Her teachers are professional and engaging. I have not had much interaction with the principal which is probably a good thing. The Middle School offers swimming as a team sport and she has made an awesome group of friends within this subset of kids. The coaches are extremely dedicated and inspiring. Between the parents we meet through the swim team and the families we have grown to know through school, we really enjoy the community and feel that this is a great place to raise our kids.

At MMS, the staff seems to be dedicated to teaching us and helping us grow and learn. We have a lot of opportunities to do fun and engaging things while learning and finding out more about ourselves.

I'm a parent with a student who has been in the middle school for 2 years! I have seen some great changes to the program implemented by the teachers and supported 100% by the new principal. Also great changes brought by the principal that encourages students to do their best but not feel the pressures that they once felt that grades were all that matter and that kids learn in other ways.

My child is now in 7th grade at MMS. All of the 6th & 7th grade teachers have done an amazing job. All the teacher my child has had have been dedicated and hard working. All of them have been very approachable and accessible. The new principal Dr. Spickard has done a wonderful job with the school. We receive email communication from her about the goings on at school and a grade level email update from the teachers on a regular basis.

I would like to note that there is a new principal at the Middle school and she has come in and done an amazing job! She listens to concerns/issues and works to resolve them. She has brought back the honor roll: A's group, A, B group, etc... She has implemented the character counts program and other things to make all students feel like they are being rewarded for good behavior not just grades. The teachers are dedicated and truly care about all of their students. It has been a complete 180 from previous negative comments that I had heard in the past and am proud that my children attend MMS.

I currently have a child attending MMS and have had three others go through there. The staff includes some of the most dedicated and caring teachers. They create opportunities to engage students, such as chess club, photography club, and fuel up for 60. The sixth grade teachers work hard so that all students have the opportunity to experience outdoor classroom learning at camp. All teachers work hard to develop themselves professionally and provide appropriate curriculum and academics, and they recently added a STEM elective course. It's a welcoming environment for students and their families.

I am going to list everything wrong with this DISTRICT:-pick 15 of the "smartest" kids in eighth grade, making everyone feel less appreciated-bugs bugs bugs!-doesn't spend any money on education, only sports and gardening tools-if one kid gets in trouble, the whole grade suffers-unintelligent teachers that only work here because they coach. -creepy parapros Besides that, the principle, Dr. Schmittou, is a horrible person. He treats everyone like dirt and thinks he is top dog. He got rid of the honor roll, then chose 15 students to be honored for their academic achievements. There are many other students that deserve it more. He hires teachers based off of looks. You will see that most of the teachers are young and pretty. When deciding where you or your child should attend middle school, I wouldn't even consider Milan Middle School.

initially my child had an issue with bullying at the school, after many meetings finally after the newest prinicpal took leadership something was done about it. I am glad to have stuck with the school system, my children are both now excelling in their classes and I as a parent am happy with how things have been handled.
