Milan High School provides MANY opportunities for a small/medium size school; AP classes, vocational, early college alliance, intro to engineering, CAD, music, art, drama, foreign languages, athletics, etc. Teachers and counselors help prepare kids for future (kids may have to ask for specific assistance since minds can't be read). Class sizes are small and teachers will assist after class. Communication from school district is often and in many forms. Safety is taken very seriously. The school does not outsource transportation, meals, etc. Great supportive community as well. Many young families, groups, businesses that want to see our kids, the school, and the city thrive and grow. You will always have some negative nay-sayers in any community, but our experience has been very positive.

extremely racist school. if you are a person of color, DO NOT GO HERE. the high school football team has gotten away with screaming racial slurs at students, and nothing has been done to them. not to mention their mascot. “the indians”.

I am new to this school by 3 weeks in I've gone here. At first the school was disorganized and I still don't have my locker information given to me. I understood at first since I just hopped into school in the middle of a unit. The students are disrespectful and don't actually take you under your wing and being new you can be shy. About only a few i met that were nice. Also you practically have to beg the teachers for help and is basically like homeschooling. Some of the teachers have you work independently just so they can play on their phone. I've tried emailing so many times and never get a response back from them and that shows how unprofessional that is. I have goals and dreams and have been helping myself to make those goals and dreams, but the teachers do not really want to help. They expected me to know the programs handed to me and my logins to the laptop itself and programs. I've even been having a hard time and thought a new way to become social and start something I love and to share my experience with starting a club. I've been having a hard time finding a sponsor because non of them were actually checking their emails.

Decent school.. Wish they had more para pro's. Smaller class sizes are very much needed.

My two daughters attended Milan. They epwere consistently challenged academically which resulted in them both achieving ACT text scores of over 28, with my oldest in the 30's. My children were academicall engaged in their work, which I felt also challenged to teachers to keep pushing them. The school was welcoming to new students, and we didn't find it to be "clickish" but accepting. Milan has typicall issues and concerns as you would find in a building of teenagers doing teenager things; but the administration dealt with them swiftly and effectively. During my daughters time there, they had the opportunity to I be involved in athletics, student government, band, choir, theater and the senior wing programs.I would send my kids back to Milan in a heart beat if I was to do it over again. Those who do not typically have a good experience is because they are not engaged in their own education or their parents aren't. Both of my children, after graduation, were excepted into some of the top universities in the country. Their academic profile and the list of extracurriculars allow them to be competitive in the application process. Well done Milan!

Excellent curriculum offered, teachers communicate well with parents, principal offers coffee time with parents - a good way to connect with what is going on with the school. Highly reccomend this school.

Please as a parent stay away from this school district. Teachers don't get involved with the kids. They are basically taught by the paraprofessional. If you're child is special needs, well good luck with that, because all they care about is placing your child on a completion. In another words, they just don't want to be bothered with your child. It's really sad, because majority of these kids want to learn. The system just fails them completely. Either you make or you don't .... everything is handled by the paraprofessional

I went to Milan for almost all my life and I can honestly say that iI hated it. The teacher's and the staff play favorites and if you're on there bad side then you're pretty much out of luck. It doesn't matter when you go to a different grade the previous teacher will tell your next teacher and then you're pretty much judged from the second you walk in. The teachers aren't attentive to the students needs and if you want help you pretty much have to beg. Bullying is a huge problem at this school with students AND teacher's as the bully. The Teachers there should be more focused on helping children learn and understand then trying to get through everything as quick as possible. I would never send my child to this school personally. Also drugs is another big problem in this school almost everyone you meet there has done soon form of drugs and/or deals is. The staff is very lacking and aren't involved with the students. Overall i recommend a different school.
