Memorial Middle School is a good school to go to. As a current student at Memorial, and 8th grader, I would say my time here has been wonderful with understanding teachers and a well-placed staff. I would like to give a huge shout out to Mrs. Sarah Rivellini, 7th grade English, Ms. Emma Wojcicki, 8th grade Science, Mrs. Kerri Grieder, 6 & 8th grade Science, and Mrs. Barbara Nanassy, 7th grade Mathematics for having the cheeriest attitudes and the most understanding nature. The principal, Mrs. Jennifer Murphy, is very appreciated with her work keeping the school up where it is, and the vice principal, Mrs. Jennifer Bourque, is one of the strictest, but funniest people you will ever meet. Our test scores have gone down since last year, when I tried to write a review, but it was declined, but we are getting there. We have more people going into tutoring and many students have complained of the hard NWEA tests that we have to take (especially the reading). I, myself, am an avid reader, but I still had a hard time with the NWEA test. (I did much better on the Math Standardized Test). Our social lives, as 6-8th graders is not large, but at school, we have a lot of time to make friends and change our ways. I have a large friend group because I like building myself a wall to protect me; there are still those couple of kids that get me riled up and I wish they weren't here, but that happens to everyone. I redeemed myself once I started making people presents. In my opinion, sometimes buying love is the way you get it. There are 138 people in my grade, and I am making a christmas present for each of them.I highly recommend attending Memorial!

Terrible. Everything at this school goes bad, the teachers are miserable and so are the kids. The bullying is so out of hand and no punishments are given to kids with bad actions. The principals here are awful!! Rude, Nasty and want no part of their job.

it tries to help kids but they don't really try super hard to prevent bullies, very common and they almost run the grade in each grade. safety is bad, at least once a year something bad has happened that affects lots of people. The learning is very average, some teachers are good, others kinda suck at their job. overall it isn't horrible but it is

I believe that Memorial Middle School is an exceptional school and deserves more than it gets credit for. The teachers are spectacular and their patience towards students is incredible.

Middle School is never easy. We are in tough times with social media, pressures of growing up and families trying to do their best. This school offers well rounded clubs, classes and teachers that do their best. Principals are involved and care about the kids. School counselors are wonderful and caring. They do their best in these trying times.

Safe to say this school has lost its way. The administration has lost control. The Superintendent won’t step in. The bullying has become so bad that the moral is at an all time low. The bully’s and mean kids run the school because administration is afraid to hold them accountable. Superintendent is at fault too. He knows all about the issues. Those kids will be heading to Pomperaug to do more harm in the future. Most teachers are nice. The hardcore liberal teachers are bully’s themselves.

Region 15 is an award winning school district and this is no exception. My daughter and her friends thrived at this school

lack of care and rigor and not challenging at all. The children need to be self learners.

There is a lot of improvement that needs to be made at this school especially in the areas of leadership and teachers who should no longer be teaching. There is too much emphasis on preparing for standardized testing.

I have had children at MMS for the last 6 years. My older son experienced bullying, which is going to happen in middle school no matter where you go. I approached his guidance counselor who documented the situation and worked to resolve the conflict. The situation improved somewhat, but when other incidents occurred the vice principal got involved and it stopped completely. We should have gone to the guidance counselor sooner. They need documentation so that they can step in. For the most part, I I found the faculty to be caring and attentive. Great office staff!
