The school programs and teachers are very engaged with their students and families. The curriculum encourages growth at all times, and the after-school programs and clubs are wonderful.

I am extremely proud of my kids school. It feels like a second family /home to us! From the minute they walk into school, I feel confident they are being well taken care of and taught beyond their potential. I rave about this school to everyone I know. We love all the teacher they have had and we love Ms. Alvarez! Thank you for the best 7 years!

do not trust this school for your disable children. they are just do their show to parents how they care about your children but they only care about bright kids to show everyone they are number one school in the area.

I'm speaking more from the perspective of a parent of a special needs child, but basically, my experience at this school has been extremely unpleasant. At the beginning of the summer, I took a tour of this school and some of the points that they emphasized is that as a public school, they can provide your children all kinds of services and assistance from Miami-Dade County Public Schools. They discussed the ESE teacher that can assist students in their classes. For my daughter's first IEP meeting, I brought a knowledgeable advocate with me that was able to see that the school did not fill out the IEP paperwork correctly. Not just one or two pages, numerous pages of what needed to be completed were left incomplete. The formal process is that they must collect data about my daughter to support suggestions for her educational placement. The paperwork itself must reflect this. The school's staff did not show up with the data to support this. They left all these parts blank on my IEP and acted like "they forgot." It was alarming and gave me the impression that they didn't know how to fill out the paperwork correctly. The administration is not knowledgeable about handling special needs kids with behavioral concerns. It is past their area of expertise. They would benefit by admitting this to parents instead of giving the impression that they are willing to put in extra time or work for special needs children. Personally, I think they should make it a point to be honest with parents upfront. I would have avoided an enormous headache and believe the receptionist misguided me. The school counselor kept postponing seeing me during the first week of school when I tried to establish a meeting to see if this school was going to be a good fit for my daughter. She postponed accepting my daughter's diagnosis at the beginning of the school year too because she said that she was still working on paperwork left over from the summer. She was expecting me to understand that she's busy when it's the school's job to handle my daughter's education and inform parents whether the school itself is going to be a good fit for their children. Here is another idea if you're having a challenging time processing the IEP paperwork: Hire or train staff to be knowledgeable about how to fill out the IEP forms correctly.

My children have all attended Kendale and I couldn’t be prouder! The educational foundation has been solid. Their teachers throughout the years have pushed them to their potential and they have exceeded in all they do. Everyone in this school truly cares about the children. This school gives a family feel which is what I always wanted and so happy received.

The principal at this school has to be the most unprofessional, antisocial human being. The other day it was raining, and she was at building 800. Instead of helping kids get off their parent's car, she was under the roof, with the umbrella open on her cell phone laughing away. Most of the teachers send homework that the kids don't know how to do. It then leaves the parents acting in as teachers and trying to figure it out with the students. Can't wait for my child to graduate this year!

This is school has a Always been amazing! My oldest just left and went to middle s hook an d my youngest is going to 1st grade. The teachers are amazing and really care. Students are challenged to do there very best and prepare them for middle school. The only negative thing I could say is that the school is closed down and you don’t have the same face to face to walk students to class and talk to the teacher. I really do miss that but I understand that it is safer for staff and students to have a closed school. There gifted program is great! I would recommend this school to any parents in the area!

It's disappointing to see how much this school has gone downhill. It used to have an excellent program for gifted students, both with and without 504/IEPs, but that is no longer the case. My child with a 504 plan did not receive any help or skills to learn effectively. Another child struggled socially and emotionally and the teacher *never noticed nor tried to help integrate my child into the class*.Due to the principal combining mutiple grades into one class, there's little time for anything more than a cursory overview of the subject, with no time for in-depth learning, and no focus on individual achievement. Additionally, students had the same teachers for successive years, which is neither the norm nor ideal. As the teacher's attention was split between grades the level of teaching declined; my children were bored. There is almost no parental involvement allowed, and it was difficult to communicate with the student's homeroom teachers. The principal is not open to parental concerns, and the entire feel of the school has changed. Once the school was warm and welcoming and the teachers seemed happy. This year every time I talked to the teachers, they gave an impression of being stressed ans anxious. Overall, this year was a terrible experience for my children.

Kendale’s administration and their Principal does not know how to deal with student’s that have a special need. They deal with problems by isolating the student with prolong punishments like no recess or lunch with the class for the remaining of the school year. This happens to students that are diagnosed with something that require a 504 plan or IDP. Horrible experience with the school’s principal and school counselor. If your child is perfectly behaved and academically advanced this is the right school. If there is minimum effort to accommodate any needs your child will suffer and will be subject to bullying. They are not open to parents that want to be involved. Only the few PTA parents are allowed to participate in activities at the school.Good teachers, bad administration.

The 6 years my child was at this school were for the most part great. The teachers are caring and dedicated. Its unfortunate the New Principal has brought them down. She is not fit to be a Principal. A principal should inspire her staff and students. Disappointed how it ended in this school, but glad that we are done.

A better school does not exist. The fantastic office staff, teachers, students and the parents are all family. My three children attended Kendale and I can assure you that if a parent had a problem with Kendale, they will have a problem wherever they go. The administration and teachers work hard to maintain an excellent elementary school.

I have been at Kendale Elementary for 9 years. My oldest daughter was in the gifted program since Kindergarten and the program and teachers are excellent. My youngest daughter is general education and also attends the resource program. She has had wonderful and caring teachers so far. The school has a lot of parent involvement. And the office staff is amazing. If you're looking for a small school with excellent academics and support for your child, look no further!

This school is a little gem. The teachers are amazing and knowledgable. They make learning fun. The administration and office staff are attentive to the children's needs, and respectful to me. My children have been at this school for 4 years now and we have not had a problem. The community of parents is also very nice with many activities and parental involvement. Great communication also between parents and teachers. So blessed and proud to be able to send my sons to Kendale elementary.
