No School is perfect, Every school has its ups and downs. Positives and negatives. Moving from CA to Texas was alot to worry about and J.H Florence has been great to us. The teachers and staff try their best to work with students and parents. I am forever greatfull I found this School.

I was a student here a few years back, and well I'm sad to say that the one year I attended this school was the worst year of my life. I had just moved from a small town and was excited to make new friends and continue in my education. (Yes, I am a goodie two shoes and a honors student.) A month into the school year my dad was in a car accident and tragically died. The school sent a flower arrangement to the funeral, and when I got back the teachers treated me with sympathy. This was a difficult time in my life and the teachers helped me get through it. Unfortunately my fellow classmates worsened my pain, and I don't just mean psychologically. I mean physically too. By the time the spring semester began I was beaten and bruised inside and out. The teachers did nothing to stop it but only because I never told them... That is until the end of the year. Once they found out what was happening they walked straight up to me and offered to transfer me into a different middle school for the next year. The teachers try their hardest to do their best but sadly they can not keep the students under control.

My kids attend this school and have had a great experience in each class. The administration supports their staff and students. The atmosphere is positive. I just wish the building was a updated...

My daughter has been attending Florence since the 3rd grade. Her teacher this year in 4th grade is awesome. She loves Art and Music and is learning so much more than her previous school. The homework assignments corresponds with whay is being taught in the classroom and she communicates very well with her students parents. However, as one of the other parents below noted, the office staff is not that great. II have had more than one issue myself with them and their attitudes. Every time I have walked into that office I also get an attitude or feeling as if I am not welcomed. On another note, the principal is the best. She is quick at solving issues and really good about returning phone calls and answering emails. She has an open door policy that makes it really great to not have to deal with the two women that sit in that office.

ATTENTION!!! ATTENTION !!! Im very unhappy with the two ladies in the front office. They are very very rude and never smile. I have been in that office 3 times and each time it is the same attitude. It is very obvious that these two ladies bring their personal problems to work. Which in my eyes it is very unexeptable. Especially when they work with children. I will be calling someone above them to get this resolved asap. However on the positive note my daughters teacher is very nice and looks like she is on top of her game.
