This school has gone down since principal Starky retired. They absolutely nothing regarding bullying and fighting. How is it possible that a student that has gotten in 4 fights is still attending school. Do our children need to be unalived for the staff to do something about it. I will be taking this to the news and writing the governor, it’s unacceptable the incompetence of all the staff at Whittier.

This school uses three cueing and leveled readers in the K/1 classes. These methods have been debunked and are banned/illegal in 29 states. Our children were on their way to being dyslexic until we pulled them out of this school and took them to another school. The entire teaching staff fled this school within 4 years of the ignorant principal taking over. If your child is 3rd grade or older they will do fine at this school as of now, but if they're 2nd or younger, you will be doing them harm sending them here. I am a certified teacher and former parent of a student at this school.

My son attends this school and it is astonishing how little he learns. When we asked his teacher about homework her reply was, "We don't do homework.". I have talked to a couple different parents whose children attend different schools and districts and its very notable how much he isn't learning. There really needs to be some changes here. At this point, this school is just a daycare. It is a place for children to go while their parents are at work.

I had two kids in the school (prek 2019/2020) and MOID K, 1st and some of 2nd grade (pulled out Nov 2021). W/my preschooler she was frequently separated from peers, not given supports, IEP not followed, principal denied boundary exception or re-enrollment saying "I've never seen a child like yours successful in gen ed." My child is now in gen ed thriving at a new school because the team follows her IEP. My 2nd grader was having new issues this year and when I asked to volunteer, observe, or bring in a licensed professional to help I was told no or I'm only allowed 1 hour of admin facilitated observation. I would not recommend this school because they seem to have difficulty following IEPs & do not want parent involvement. I will say my kids' teachers were good but being limited by administration/principal did not help them.

The school has been great for my kids. Every teacher they had has been very good. The community of the school is great lots of friends. Our principal is very approachable and cares about our school and all the kids as well as the staff. The new curriculum that they implemented is amazing you can see a different in the campus and kids are happier.

I been really impressed with the staff. They have great teachers and great sence of community. The school promotes several family activities that helps us connect better with the community and with the school.

Whittier Elementary has been my school of choice for my children for the last 7 years. I transferred to this school on recommendation from 4 different people. I have enjoyed my family's relationship with Whittier teachers and staff and trust them with my children's education. They are rated an A+ school, which speaks for itself. There is also high parent involvement and many clubs and programs available for the kids. My children have been involved in Math Wizards, Chorus, Band, Orchestra, Student Council, Various After School Programs and the Robotics Team. My children like school and their teachers, which also says a lot about the teachers considering what they have to put up with in a given day:) Go Whittier Wildcats!

this school is amazing, One of the best in Mesa for sure. We have tried several different schools, at whittier you get close relationships with the teachers and staff, they are wonderful with court custody. Their education is top of the line and they are willing to go the extra mile for your child if assistance is needed. Wonderful give them a a+.
