Lowell elementary is a great school for children overall this school is helpful with some resources that they get for us families they do a lot of volunteers and that's good they always keep up on announcements so we know what's going on!

The school has changed a lot and not for the better. The school has had huge staff turn overs at the end 2022 half the staff left. In 2022/23 at least 4+ essential certified staff members quit before the end of the school year. The teachers that are at the school work very hard, but it seems appeance is valued over respect and listening to staff. I highly doubt the 2022 & 2023 parent reviews.

I just pulled my child out of this school after 2+ years of incessant bullying that the principal ignored or swept under the rug. I watched my child's mental health deteriorate and their school performance withered while the administration denied the bullying was taking place at all. They refused my suggestions to try to help the situation, including offering at my own expense to meet up with the bullying students (one at a time) and their parent(s) after school for a fun activity, in hopes that would help our children make a peaceful connection. The principal refused to extend my offer to the other parents or even entertain the idea. I tried very hard to be patient and willing to compromise over this time span because I wanted it to work, but it was to no avail. The only thing I ever did that lit a fire under the Lowell administration was to contact the district superintendent and let them know what was going on. Even that was temporary since it was at the end of the school year. The teachers my child encountered were great, with the exception of one 3mo-extended sub who wouldn't even answer messages. The students academic performances are low, there isn't much parental involvement, and as a low-income area, these kids have to deal with struggles at home that go along with these socioeconomic factors. Combine these conditions with absent/overworked parents and admins more concerned about their image than doing something to make a positive difference in these childrens' lives, and you get an unsafe situation that doesn't benefit anyone, and actively hinders many. I did give them 1 star because the teachers DO care about their students, but there's only so much that they can do.

Principal Genisha Wright is an amazing leader. Her vision and drive to make Lowell a great place to learn is unparalleled. The family atmosphere at Lowell is supportive and caring. Everyone wants the children to do well and achieve at the highest level and the staff works together to make that happen.

My kids love coming to the school, they wear uniforms which I do like. Teachers are very nice and communicate with parents, they really care about their students. Many new programs/activities are starting to become available in the school, also upgrades to the school buildings.

Lowell has a lot of potential. They have some very dedicated and loyal staff who strive to have our children become successful and contributing members of society, however there is only so much they can do. There needs to be a behavioral counselor installed to promote appropriate actions for students with destructive, inappropriate and distracting behavior. There is very little parental/community involvement. There seems to be no recourse for the staff to correct the blatant disrespect for basic rules. I think it boils down to being in a poor community and these kids have a lot more going on in their lives that seems to be more important than rising above their circumstances. The fault lies with the parents/guardians, not the school itself, but there should be a behavioral coach or counselor to give students the tools to cope with their outside distractions and allow them to focus on bettering themselves and improving their environment.

Sadly this school suffers from poor leadership from the principal Doreen Herrick. She is inexperienced, rude and unprofessional to not only parents, but students, teachers and staff. The school has a large Hispanic population yet Doreen speaks no Spanish. Let's hope MPS wakes up and gets someone in the principal position who puts the students first and treats parents, students, teachers and staff with respect.

This school is including teachers and students are a sorry excuse for an educational institute. My step daughter has been in this school for two years. She is in the 4th grade and continues to struggle. Her teacher this year was pregnant and took maternity leave for three months in that timetable step daughter has had over five sub teachers. She is having a very difficult time with the transitions. Also bullying is a major issue, my daughter is have white and half Hispanic and 90% of the kids in her class are Hispanic and she is constantly teased cuz she doesn't speak Spanish. Bullying is verbal and physical and every time it is brought up nothing is done about it. Please if you have an option don't put your child in this school.

I just put my kids in Lowell and its only been 3 mths and ever since my kids started it has been bad news every time i turn around and need to talk to there teacher she is always out your if something happens they don't no anything they say well the kids saw this happen so there is no supervision with the kids they leave it up the the kids to watch each another. I NEVER seen such poor supervision and '' teacher helpers'' in my life my kids used to like going to school now they don't even like going how sad.......
