Don't listen to the other review about bullying as you can easily tell that was a staff member. Bullies are not handled well at the elementary level. Kids who are being bullied and harassed get told that they have to be friends with bullies. Bullies never get suspended, it doesn't matter if they physically harm someone or continuously destroy another child's property they just get a pat on the back while the children being mistreated have to deal with it. Art teachers will speak down on other student's artwork in front of the whole class and cause multiple kids to cry all the time yet he was never removed. This just tells you a lot about this place and also this problem isn't just at one school. Parents, if your child says they are being bullied stop being soft and speak up for them or these people will make them hang around kids that will harm them physically and use and believe the excuse that they just want a friend. How grown adults can believe a child who is always harming people saying they just want to be friends with the people they are hurting is beyond crazy. "Hurting someone doesn't mean someone wants to be friends." You are crazy.

The administrators and staff at Valley View provide a safe and positive learning environment for our children. Our daughter's test scores continue to climb and she loves going to school!

Our son is half way through his 3rd year at Valley View (in 2nd grade). His experience, and ours as a family, has been disappointing. 2 of the 3 teachers he has had have seemed to lack control over their classrooms and have seemed to struggle with communicating with parents. Our son is performing extremely well, and was even placed in the advanced group in math in 1st grade. However, his teachers have disagreed on his academic placement -- for example, this fall the reading specialist placed him at a higher reading level than his regular teacher. His regular teacher did not take the reading specialists recommendation and told our son he could not read "chapter books" during reading time because he was "not ready" -- this is something he had been doing at home the entire summer beforehand. Our best experience was 1st grade -- that year we had a new teacher to the district....her fresh perspective really seemed to challenge our son in a positive manner -- we REALLY felt like we were seeing him do leaps and bounds in his learning. Unfortunately, the other two years have been challenges and the teachers have not communicated well with us parents -- no newsletters, no emails, etc

This is our first year at Valley View Elementary and my son absolutely loves it! I believe a great school needs strong leadership from a visionary in education and I feel the principal fits that description. She seems to have great concern for the academic and social successes of all the students. My son speaks of how she has come into his classroom to check on what the students are doing and to see how things are going, as well as to give them words of encouragement. The inviting, pleasant atmosphere at Valley View begins from the time you enter the building and are greeted by the effervescent personality of the school secretary. The teachers on staff are warm, helpful and show a genuine concern for the students in the building. My son's teacher has gone the extra mile in making him feel accepted in his new classroom, as well as making sure his learning goals are on target. He has made many new friends and the transition to a new school could not have gone smoother. I am very pleased and appreciative of the efforts of the Valley View faculty and staff and the challenging academic program that is provided.
