Lausanne High School is not worthy of its reputation. The staff are unqualified and demonstrate racial and economic bias. They award bogus titles to individuals without the educational background or credentials to address student issues effectively. The school prioritizes its sports programs above all else, and the principal’s office prominently features the same three photos of students who supposedly went to Ivy League colleges. In reality, the majority of graduates attend third-tier institutions. Families pay exorbitant fees for a school that invests in superficial features rather than delivering strong academics. The result is a toxic environment with mediocre educational standards.

A previous reviewer said this school is for the "privileged" and I must agree. The privileged being those who have either been at the school forever (esp the children of staff), or whose parents are big donors are given more leniency and flexibility. I suppose this is the same across the board at every private school. But most other schools in the area aren't charging $30k/yr, and tuition continues to rise. On top of that, we're paying to be gaslit and patronized, overcharged for school-sponsored trips, teachers to our kids (because half the teachers don't do their jobs), and basically told to mind our own business when it comes to our children's education.Save your money. Do online school.

Worst possible school you can send your kids to.

As a parent of 2 high school students, the most important factors that make a high school a 5-star experience are:Supportive & knowledgable teachersAcademically challengingFriendly studentsProperly preparing students for collegeA safe learning environmentStrong leadershipLausanne has ALL of that. No school is perfect, mind you. There are some "bad apples" in terms of students (a few of them are kids of teachers/administrators), but that's everywhere and it's everywhere in life. It is a competitive school in every way (academically, athletically, artistically), but the students still support each other. It is the most diverse school, and to include only race in that statement would be doing the school a disservice. The student body represents over 50 countries, a wide range of socio-economic backgrounds, race, religions, and personalities. Which is astounding given that it's a relatively small student body. The teachers are stellar and, most importantly, extremely supportive. They make time for the students if they need help or just request feedback. They WANT their students to succeed and I feel they have fully prepared my daughters (academically, mentally, and emotionally) for college more so than any other private or public school in the area could. I also want to give a shout out to the lunch ladies and the security/gate guards because their jobs are equally appreciated! We moved to Memphis a few years ago and are so proud to call Lausanne home! As I said, no school is perfect, but Lausanne is as close as they come.

Our family has been at Lausanne for seven years, and I'm consistently impressed with the education and experience my children are receiving. We have three very different children: an artist, an academic and an athlete, and all have found a home at the school, and expanded their interests beyond their initial focus. Couldn't recommend highly enough. If you're looking at private schools, definitely include a visit to their campus to see for yourself.

My kid has been in Lausanne for 7 years since preschool. For us, the main reason of sending my child to private school is to get exceptional and challenging educational experiences. But we find Lausanne's curriculum to be relatively easy, comparing to many other public and private schools in the local area based on what I know. The math classes are especially lacking. During virtual school period in 2020, I also found for her class, there were about 2 hours of self study hours in the morning, which I think should be the prime time for teaching and learning. There is no formal advance or gift program in place in Lausanne, while many public schools have dedicated hours for kids who are ahead of others.Lausanne is a great school, but I think there is lack of focus on academics from top down, especially in school leadership/management. Sometime it feels more like a business, in stead of an educational institute.

Lausanne has been a wonderful environment for our family. Not only does the IB program provide an excellent framework for the entire school, the culture of the school is truly joyful. My daughter’s teachers have always had such a great understanding of who she is, both academically and emotionally. I’m so happy to call Lausanne home.

We have had nothing but positive experiences with our boys being students at Lausanne. The lower school teachers show a level of diligence, empathy, and compassion that is unmatched. The level of detail that is shown, across all divisions, make us incredibly excited about every grade level that we will get to experience. We are so grateful to have found this diverse community within the city of Memphis!

My son transferred from another private school to Lausanne in the 8th grade. He is currently a sophomore and excelling at Lausanne! The teachers at Lausanne truly are passionate about their work and they've taught my son how to think critically, advocate for himself and others, and how to become a better citizen. He struggled academically at first, but the teachers spent a lot of time getting him on track. The academics are very challenging, but Lausanne has so many programs in place to help the students succeed. I had no idea there were private schools that invested so much in their students learning goals and academics. They truly go the extra mile and beyond! And if you have an interest in any extra-curricular activity, Lausanne offers it! You would think they had 1000's of students because of the many different activities they offer for their students. It is a wonderful school, very diverse, and numerous class offerings to choose from. I highly recommend Lausanne.

My son has attended PK3 and JK at Lausanne. It has been one of the most rewarding experiences for him. His social, emotional and academic well-being have flourished over these past 2 years. We will continue to giving thanks for our family's path being led to Lausanne and look forward to many more years ahead.

All three of my children have had an amazing experience at the school. The eldest graduated from the school, and while the IB diploma was difficult to obtain, it made a significant difference in the college scholarships she was offered. Her younger brothers are current Lausanne students, and I've watched them grow and thrive in the environment. I'm extremely happy with our choice to send our kids to Lausanne, and couldn't recommend it more.

It was mediocre at best bc the facility we were in was amazing but the education was a little lacking on the forefront. great teachers and staff just lacking direction. Instead of giving us textbooks, they gave us individual sheets so the homework was all over the place.

I would rate my experience at Lausanne a 9/10. Many people don't realize that Lausanne's classes are structured differently than that of other schools. For instance, I may be taking a class in 9th grade that a different school had in 8th grade, but I get more application and more complex ideas in that class. In tenth grade, I'm getting questions that some of my friends are having in 12th grade. Lausanne is structured differently than other schools with classes. Lausanne has a large diverse background, even though I may have different beliefs than that of my classmates, that doesn't mean I'm not part of the Lausanne family. I understand that Lausanne can be expensive, but I think it's worth the price. The school also offers financial aid and other ways to help students who could not typically afford the school. If you are worried about the price for your child just look at it as an investment into their future. The only thing I think Lausanne could do a better job with is keeping more permanent teachers. Lausanne is always trying to hire respected teachers to offer their students the best educational experience possible.

The school administration was always horrible. In my experience, I was in all "High-Level" Classes, but when comparing what we were doing to some of my friends in public school, we were well behind. The only reason I've kept up academically is due to using online learning sites. I have hardly learned, and the administration refuses to let people move upward if they are capable. The school brags about a 8:1 student faculty ratio, yet this disappears in high school. My smallest class in my first and only semester in high school had around 15 people. Due to all these reasons I was driven up the wall to the point where I decided to leave the school so I could challenge myself more.

Lausanne is the worst school my family has every been apart of. My daughter attended this school during PreK during the 2016-2017 school year and every moment was nothing like they has promised. Her PreK teachers were horrible. She was spanked and bullied by staff at the school. During tours, the school promises that all children are valued and that they teach so many things about and none of them are true. The education provided does not equate to the money spent, neither does the level of care provided for such young children. If you happen to value your child and would not like them judged by who you are, where you work, who you know, or how often you can sit at the school and laugh in staff faces... PLEASE do not choose Lausanne Collegiate School.

Diversity is a very big part of this school, it is true, and many students are from different countries and that is great for students socially. However the school's cost is constantly getting higher for no good reason academically!

My child attended Lausanne in PK 2015-2016 school year. Among countless other things that transpired, she was sent home once with soiled underwear the teachers claimed not to have noticed (the smell was obvious the moment she was helped into my car in the after school pickup line), and she was also sent home once with an apple filled with pencil lead, which she was told she could eat. I tried to reach out to administration to talk to them about these issues and countless others, to no avail. 0/5 would never recommend.
