Hutchison does a great job of providing challenging academic opportunities to students but within a nurturing environment that leaves room for girls to have fun. We have been impressed with the leadership, faculty, personalized choices for courses in the Upper School, the facilities and all of the opportunities students have to be engaged.

This school is amazing! I have been here since 4th grade, and I have loved every minute. The academics are tough - I have to work hard, but my teachers are always so helpful and supportive. I know they want me to succeed, and I feel like they really know me. My English teachers are always suggesting books I will like, and it is fun to discuss them. I am going into 10th grade, but I have already met with my college counselor twice, and she has helped me look for some summer programs. Also, I really, really love the Institute for Responsible Citizenship. We get great speakers and I am looking forward to having a cool internship. Exploring different careers is really interesting. I also love the travel opportunities. I am going to Singapore with the Chinese class. This is a school for all types of girls. I don't play any sports, but a lot of my friends do. We also have friends who are into theater. This is not a "clicky" school - especially when you get to high school. There is something for everyone! The Hutchison community is awesome. I really can't imagine a better school. I also feel really safe here. I don't always feel safe in Memphis, but I do feel safe at school. I like that we have guards and gates. There really is no better place to go to school.

Hutchison has provided me with countless friendships and relationships that has helped me grow into a better person over the years. I have been at Hutchison for 6 years now and as a graduating senior, it's hard saying goodbye. There are plenty of faculty members always ready to lend a helping hand when one is struggling whether it be with school, college, friends, hobbies, etc. Teachers value good relationships as well. Something I have also enjoyed is the arts and athletics. Coaches and arts instructors have steered me on the right direction to help me improve my volleyball skills and my singing skills. I have appreciated everyone I have met here and will miss it so dearly.

My experience at this school has been nothing but incredible. Hutchison fosters a supporting, loving environment, that sets you up for success in the future. The academics, extracurriculars, faculty, facilities, and more, are impeccable. I am so lucky to have spent four years at this school!

Hutchison has helped me become more independent and allowed a space to find my voice and confidence. Through Hutchison theater, I have delved deeper into my creative and comical side. I have had the opportunity to try out activities such as bowling and journalism in an environment focused on growth and school spirit. I will miss my time here and am grateful for the relationships I've built in beautiful Labry.

I have attended Hutchison for most of my life and I would not have it any other way. The culture at Hutchison is one that is warm and inviting. I have always felt supported in all areas of my academic and athletic career. The teachers are simply unparalleled; they are all genuinely invested in their students academic success and overall wellbeing. If I were to do it again, I would choose Hutchison every time, without a doubt. There is no place quite like Hutchison.

As a current senior, Hutchison School has been such a consistent home for me throughout my whole life. The students and faculty truly care most about seeing you succeed. I will never forget about one of my teachers. He worked constant hours to see me perform to the best of my ability. I have noticed that my class has been able to really understand and listen to one another. I have never had a conversation with one of my peers and felt as if I was never heard. I am thankful to have spent years with girls who listen, understand, and more importantly, one's who really care.

As a current senior, my departure from Hutchison is bittersweet. My heart is so sad to leave Hutchison behind. For the past five years at Hutchison, the community has served as my family and second home, and I will be so incredibly sad to leave. However, I know that Hutchison has prepared me for the next chapter of my life and that I am completely ready for this new and exciting journey next year. Although my future will take me away from Hutchison, I know that the friendships and memories I have made will stay with me forever.

Outstanding. As a grandparent, I have limited expose and knowledge of the school, but from what I've seen, both in my interactions with the school and the progress of my granddaughter, I think it is an excellent school. For example, I find the Christmas programs put on for the grandparents is excellent, well produced, extremely creative (no over-exposed Christmas music; all music that I've never heard) and very entertaining. The girls' enthusiasm is very evident.

The school is on a good path. Parents who complain about a singular incident hurt the school's reputation because usually they don't know the whole story and they are just speaking in the heat of the moment. When they come to visit the school for conferences or other events, they are overwhelmingly appreciative and complimentary. Girls who graduate from this school are not only intelligent and poised, but also confident, well-rounded, and passionate. Through their experience at this school, they have narrowed down their interests well enough so they don't spend time figuring out what it is they want to do or be--they are ready to pursue their next chapters right out of the gate.

Hutchison is amazing. I'm continually surprised by their innovative and cutting-edge approaches to teaching our daughters - both intellectually and physically. They take their "mind, body, and spirit" mantra seriously! Those girls are so confident, poised, clever, and well-rounded. It's amazing what this great school can do!

The academics were sometimes the best imaginable. The social politics were the worst imaginable. Save your money and send your daughter to a great college. I have been mainly negative in my review, but I do wish to acknowledge that there were a FEW nice families. However, even these nice families did not make an effort to truly include an outsider to their country club.

My daughter spent one year here at the start of high school. Academically, the school did challenge her and she was succeeding under the pressure of it. The school also offers many academic choices for the girls, which is a positive.Socially, this school is a completely different situation. It is very difficult for any "new girl" to break-in and make true friends. Most of the girls we had contact with were nice on the surface, but devious and exclusionary beyond that...and, most of those girls had parents who acted the same way. We met very few truly welcoming people here. I am sure there are some very sweet girls and parents attending, but we sure never found them. The upper school administration also did nothing to help any new child assimilate. On class trips or in group projects, girls were grouped with their friends--so any type of "bonding" experience that was promoted just became another typical high school clique. The girls are not ever placed out of their own social comfort zone. That is a huge missed opportunity for administration. Our daughter ended up leaving due to the poor social environment. She is now thriving socially and academically at another school.

The middle school is very weak academically. Some of the teachers are sweet but we did not feel our daughters were getting the best middle school education here so we switched schools.

I really enjoy working at Hutchison. I love my coworkers and I enjoy working with our girls... they are truly incredible! I am blown away by the work our school does with training the next generation of leaders. Our support of the development of partnerships with organizations in the community makes me feel like I'm working at Hutchison for more than just girls education. My efforts impact our girls, who in turn, impact the world around us. Happy to "bee" at Hutchison? You betcha!

This head of school does not know what she is doing when it comes to running a college preparatory school. She does not care about the lives of students nor teachers and staff members.

Although no school is perfect, Hutchison has been an amazing experience for my two daughters. I've found that most of the criticism that comes from parents are from those with students who were not a good match academically and want to blame in on something more than it was not a good fit for their daughter. It is definitely not for everyone! Our oldest daughter actually called to thank us for her Hutchison education and for being so prepared during her first semester at a competitive college. She is now graduated and owns a thriving business. My youngest is still there and doing very well. Hutchison is challenging academically and seeks to educate the whole child. Much learning goes on outside of the classroom through her activities. We chose it, in part, because of the myriad of extra-curricular activities available in sports, art, theater, music, leadership and community service. The teachers and coaches have been nurturing and encouraging at every level. Developing a passion and leadership capabilities outside the classroom is every bit as important to me as academic success.

I am currently attending Hutchison and am in the 8th grade. I have been reading the comments and am very offended by the people saying we are all about the money and you have to be talented, popular, and rich to go to school here. This is most definitely not the case. The days at school are very fun, but we get down to business and do our work. I have learned so many things from not only the teachers but also the students. There is so much diversity at Hutchison. Of course, St. Mary's is a great school. I have many friends at St. Mary's that tell me how miserable the middle school is and how they only care about academics and how boring school is. This year, we had the most new girls come from St. Mary's, so that can tell you something about Hutchison. There are so many things offered at Hutchison that people don't know about. Leadership opportunities helped me get over my fears of speaking in front of people, and the arts classes helped me have fun and let go of the stress of a test or a project that is going on. Hutchison is definitely the best school to go to. Not only do we have great education, but there are so many choices and different paths you can choose. I love Hutchison!

In early childhood at Hutchison, they draw you in and make you believe it is the best school on the planet. All of the teachers are so laid back yet disciplinary, and they all work well with children. In "lower school" or elementary school, it is the same way. Here's, though, is where you should watch out. Starting in 5th grade everything goes down hill; it all starts to be about the money and who you are, and not just between the students, but the faculty rather. There is really no way to explain it other than the school does not care about you child anymore, and they only care about the money. They cheap out on everything now, and more importantly they're way of thinking is very off. They try to include this very liberal way of thinking, but it does not work. The teachers in middle school are also very wacky (especially when my daughter was 5th and 8th grade.) It is hard to explain, so you would truly have to see for yourself.

Hutchison is an average private school in terms of academics -- and based on many of the parent reviews on this site, above average in terms of public relations! I attended Hutchison for part of elementary and middle school. My teachers were for the most part caring and competent, and I received a good education. I was also in every advanced program that was offered. In reflecting on what my classmates have gone on to do, however, it's hard to justify the years of tuition dollars their parents spent. At least half of my graduating class went to schools such as Ole Miss, UT, Auburn, etc. Fine schools but far from mostly Ivy league/prestigious as some are posting on this site. Some have gone on to have successful careers but a surprising number that I keep up with on Facebook work retail and other jobs that do not require a college degree. I'm posting not to be critical of the school but I do think there are other options, both public and private, the provide a comparable academic experience and more well-rounded social experience (and cheaper, to boot.)
