The teachers at this school are great! They are very personable. The Principal seems a little off. She likes to dress like she works in Beverly Hills.

Best school we have EVER been to; BY FAR!! My son needed an IEP and Behavioral Plan starting when he was in Kindergarten, but the school wouldn't help and wouldn't provide the support we needed to get one. Second elementary school, he was in 3rd grade. Better but still wouldn't help or provide the support we needed to get an IEP but provided a Behavioral Plan. Third elementary school and he was now in 4th grade. The school gave us a teacher that was supposed to be understanding and helpful but often sent him to the Principals office. The principal seemed understanding and willing to help and work with us. It turned out that he was part of the problem because the more often that my poor son that has Aspergers/ADHD was sent to the office, the less of himself he thought and thus his behavior became more of a problem. Before the covid shut down, the principal told us that if he didn't shape up, he would end up in Juvenille Detention (btw, my son's behavior NEVER EVER reflected that of someone who would need to go to Juve) or last chance school. When we came to Melba, they welcomed us with open arms and were very welcoming and encouraging! They helped to rebuild his self esteem and to see himself as a good kid. The BEST part of the school is the principal. My ratings reflect what my spouse as a teacher has seen from the school. The school did incredible things with my son, but learning could have been a lot better. We will see how they do with my next child.

The facilities seem like they cost a lot of tax payer money, yet the high school is falling apart, is lacking a proper auditorium and enough classrooms. The teachers are nice, but the principal doesn’t deal with bullying well and behaves inappropriately at times.
