Awesome school, staff are amazing! The principle is grouchy and teachers don't care for her but other than that it's great! : )

I do not usually review the schools my children have attended but every that my son has attended has been great. The teachers all care about him and his development, he knows most staff members and they know him by name. They make sure he fully understands the assignments and communicates with me before there is a major problem. Also, we had a health diagnosis last year and thankfully his teacher noticed a big change and asked me about it. This led to an emergency meeting with the pediatrician and the diagnosis. Since the symptoms weren't showing until the Monday she reached out, things could have been a lot worse. Each teacher he has is trained in his diagnosis so they can see the warning signs before things get worse. I highly recommend this elementary school. The office staff are a pleasure and kind, even the crossing guard is lovely and knows all of the kids. She is adored by kids and their families. I do not have enough words of to speak about how great the school is for all kids.

SO far I am more impressed with the administration staff than the teaching staff at this point. I hope that changes going forward.....

We spent time in Frisco ISD and another McKinney elementary school before moving here 6 years ago. This school and community is amazing. The tone starts at the top and Mrs Sanchez gets it right. The school focus on character traits isn't just something they talk about a few times a year, it is lived daily at the school. The school culture does a great job of recognizing the whole child and the family and not having unrealistic homework expectations. Also I've never experienced such a strong sense of community at our previous schools which speaks to the tone at the school but also the neighboorhood overall.

I am a former school administrator of a neighboring school district who now lives in the Walker attendance zone. As a school volunteer, everything I hear about this school from parents, teachers and the community is positive. Kudos to Deborah Sanchez, School Principal, for her leadership.

We came to Walker from Frisco ISD a few years ago and were blown away by how amazing it has been from the very beginning. Walker's staff is so friendly. The community is very strong and stable. One of the teachers was even a student there once! They're incredibly picky about who works there - even the student teachers. The principal is completely in charge, but not in that rude, snooty way. It's more comforting, knowing that the person who should be in charge IS in charge. There are great family activities run by the PTA and lot of opportunities to volunteer. Even little siblings are welcome on campus when you're volunteering! (In Frisco ISD, that was not allowed). The kids have PE three times a week and recess every day. Yippee!!!!There is only one (annoying) fundraiser each year, instead of continually being hit up for money. It's been several years now and we just love it at Walker. Overall, McKinney schools are much more stable and friendly than Frisco schools, because the boundaries aren't changing all of the time due to overwhelming growth. It was hard to feel settled in Frisco ISD.

I don't go to this school but I had a friend who did. She hated the mascot cause they were the Walker "Stars" which really isn't a good mascot. I went there for summer camp. It had no doors but nice vibrant colors. If t didn't have colors maybe I meant a different school.
