The nurse at this school is completely incompetent. DO NOT send your kids to this school, it's the worst I've ever experienced in my 30 years of parenting children

Let’s start off with the principal having a terrible attitude and is completely unprofessional. He doesn’t meet with parents, his tone and demeanor is very rude. He suspends students unnecessarily. The teachers are not fully certified and lack the knowledge they need to help students make academic progress. They provide little to no social emotional support for the students. I wouldn’t recommend this school at all.

We have had multiple issues with this school in the last 2 years. Vindictive and inexperienced teachers. A special education department that is non existent. Bullying by teachers and students.

We were zoned for this school district and our kids were in the demographic minority. We had serious misgivings because it's a Title 1 school and our kids had just finished private pre K but overall it was better than expected. We did have issues with bullying this past year but they were handled immediately to our satisfaction. Teachers and administration are extremely responsive and acted immediately when things happened to both our kids. My son was in the gifted program after his first year and I really feel he got a wonderful start and many chances to excel. My daughter started off in Kindergarten with a wonderful teacher who was then transferred to another school after she moved to 1st grade. The downside is that my kids had a lot of their things stolen and to fit in both felt they needed to engage in vernacular and expressions we are now trying to remedy. I also felt that reading and grammar skills for my daughter's grade level weren't as strong and now she'll have to do some remedial work in her new school despite getting strong grades.

I visited my child for lunch a few times and on today's visit I personally witnessed more than one teacher yelling at children in the cafeteria. One teacher was yelling at children who were standing in a line. These are kindergarteners. They are not robots. The teachers should be pleased that they are standing single file and not jumping all over the place. I felt concerned immediately. If a teacher feels comfortable screaming and also belittling kids with her comments WHILE a few parents were seated 2 feet away eating lunch with their kids..imagine what happens behind the closed doors of the classroom. I intend on eating lunch with my children a few times each week and record this behavior on my cell phone. Disgusting!! How can you groom a child to have good self esteem and proper self identity if they are being broken down by their teacher for 8 hours. The school is in poor condition and the staff's behavior matches. -Parent of 2 student who attend this school

We attended 2014. Starting the year off we had nothing but issues. MY CHILDREN'S TEACHERS WERE WONDERFUL. BUT The front office isn't very welcoming and the person they put in charge of the fundraising and other events is rude and disrespectful to parents. She went even as far as to tell me that they believe that parents are a distraction. The principle is not very good at parent interaction. VERY UNORGANIZED IN ALMOST EVERYTHING EXAMPLE AWARD DAYS AND FIELD DAYS. I would recommend people to try to do the school choice and do not go to this school.

My chidd has been a student here for two years she is in second grade. The educators are great the only reason I took away one star is due to the disiplinary problems that my chid has encounter from other childre, but that is not the schools fault rather that of the parents. Oakland is great they are truly concerned for the kids!

The teachers we have had at this school have gone above and beyond with our two boys. We have one child that is gifted and needs advanced materials and he is provided everything he needs and more. Our second son is dyslexic and the school has worked so hard to follow the laws and provide him what he needs. He is now excelling thankfully because the teachers at this school have gone above and beyond to try to help him and provide him with what he needs to succeed.

My son is in 4th Grade and this was his first year here. He ABSOLUTLY LOVES THIS SCHOOL! He has been challenged in every way and has brought up his grades and LOVES it. He never wants to miss a day of school because he is afraid of the learning he might miss. His teacher really shows that she cares about her class and there learning. Im glad we will be at this school next year!
